The Crates Are Open

Recommended Posts

The crates have finally arrived:hurray: and the CSR build is beginning. Just a few more weeks and all the delays will be forgiven and forgotten. Here's what it looks like at the moment:

Good luck with the build. :driving:

Can't believe it's been 12 years this week since I picked up my crate/boxes. Still remember the day well. Rented a truck, went to customs at the Philly airport, boxes were forked on the truck and when I got home, realized that I had to uncrate the big box on the truck since I couldn't get it safely onto the lift gate. Had to get it done right then as the rented truck was due back because it was college move in week and I had talked the guy into letting me take one if I brought it right back.

Thing I remember most was that the largest bag of fasteners was labeled "Miscellaneous" :jester:

Hope all your parts made it. Enjoy the assembly and post lots of pics.

Wow, beautiful car! Cant wait to see the pix of build progress and final product.

And, what a pristine build environment, that will help when those little fasteners go flying.

Exactly two years ago, my build was nearly three months between getting the crates delivered to Caterham USA to having the car delivered to me. (there were several builds in process at that time)

I found that calling three times a day to guide Ben through the process (yes I was excited) and to add on additional upgrades helped me feel better. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve.

To fill your time between now and delivery, I recommend starting the upgrade orders now!!!

Yes, that's now my car and I was well aware of its 'provenance' when I purchased it. It is quite the track beast. I did a trackday @Waterford Hills 2 days ago and it was me, a Panoz and a track prepped C6 'Vette neck and neck all day in the advanced group, no one else was close. Waterford really favors my car as it's only 1.4 miles long, really doesn't have a straight, is all wiggle waggles, and I bet I never topped 100 mph.

Sweet car. Would love to check it out sometime. Is my color calibration off on my monitor, or is that purple and gold?

Your monitor is set just right. It is a very dark purple (deep amethyst) and a light gold (champagne), both from model year 2000 Chrysler. The purple is almost black until the sun hits it just right.

The combination was chosen as a thank you to my wonderful wife. They are her favorite colors and, as it turns out, look really good on the Caterham.

And you can check it out any time you are in the area. Should be ready by mid-September.

Great looking car. You get to see its "birth". Since I bought mine from the original owner, I didn't get the pleasure of assembling the car. Wish I did.

I didn't see a mention of which powertrain you're installing. Are you going with a Duratec, a Cosworth prepped engine, or another choice ?
