MoBoost
Here goes: Cars 1972 Datsun 1200 1972 Triumph Spitfire (the ash tray was perfect for holding the loose hardware that was always falling off) sold to my brother, who put a lot money into it, sold it to a friend who had it for 20 years before selling it back to my brother! 1974 Triumph TR6 (nice drive train, but the body succumbed to the tin worm) 1972 Volkswagen Beetle (still have the holed piston from the dropped valve) 1976 TVR 2500M (a nice car, but had to go for the Seven) 1969 Dodge Polara (acquired for the good heater and my 210 cm skis fit in the trunk) 1984 Dodge Colt (was supposed to be reliable daily driver and it wasn't) 1985 Caterham Seven (still in the fleet) 1988 Ford Festiva 1987 Saab 900 Turbo 1996 Saab 900 SE 2001 Volkswagen Passat Wagon (the most boring car I have ever owned) 2004 MINI Cooper S JCW (my daily driver) 2005 Volvo V70 (wife's daily driver) 2005 Chevy Malibu (really dislike this car, but it's fine for my high school age daughter) 2011 MINI Cooper 2008 Lotus Elise SC (waited a long time for this one and it was worth it)
twobone
Still early days... No longer with me: 1982 Nissan Stanza - POS 1990 Mazda 323 - a bit better 1997 Mazda Protege - better still 1974.5 MGB - my first classic - shook like a SOB at above 60, but sure was pretty in BRG with wire wheels 1980 Porsche 911 SC Targa - a bit of a rat rod, but fun..serious money pit though...learned all about how not to buy and own Porsches 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 - amazing condition, so gorgeous (I still miss her), great value and a terrific GT - sold it for more than I bought it for to buy the seven - basically an even swap from a cost perspective $24K Now own: 2000 Nissan Pathfinder - starting to rust out, but she still starts every morning 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i - not all that sexy, but gets about 450 miles per tank and kicks butt in the snow 1989 Caterham Super Seven - my mistress! Sabbot
Past(cars and bikes) 1980 Suzuki x1, 49cc's of raw coolness (at 16 I thought so) 1967 Triumph Spitfire mk III, more rust than metal and terrified the driving test examiner into giving me driving licence 1974 Triumph Spitfire mk IV, Pristine when i bought it, not so after a few years of autocross. 1962 Triumph Spitfire mk I, first full restoration 1972 mini, first introduction to front wheel drive Self designed and built Alfa Romeo "boxer" single seat mid engined special: turned out to be a bigger drain on a student's beer fund than I thought but learnt all about Ackermann angles, roll centers and polar moments of inertia. Honda XL 125; It went from A to B come rain or shine and helped rebuild the beer fund 1979 Kawasaki z400, Sort of surprizing I survived to continue the list 1980 ford fiesta 1600 1985 Fiat uno turbo; An entertaining introduction to torque steering and turbo lag 1979 Fiat X19: Painted with yellow and black zebra stripes to hide the rust 1981 Alfa Romeo, Alfasud 1300: their was a good reason that the workshop manual highly recommended changing the handbrake cable if you ever had to remove the engine... 1971 Ginetta G15: A hillman imp in pretty fiberglass clothes, but hugely good fun after getting used to little on no feel from the steering 1965 Triumph Spitfire mk III: A triumph of ignorance - I really should have known better 1982 Sylva striker 1300cc: A lotus 7 that shrunk in the wash, incredible chassis but the live axle rear had more a constant desire to swap ends in the wet Susuki gsx550:Finally found the limits of both adhesion and talent- this was almost a farewell to motorbikes and essential parts on my anatomy 1967 Lotus Elan s3: Started out as box of bits that finally served our wedding car Citroen ZX 2.0L 16v - I never did figure out how the variable length inlet manifold worked but it did go quite well Citroen ZX diesel hatchback - couldn't kill it after quarter of a million miles Citroen ZX diesel turbo station wagon - 40mpg and would cruise all day at 80mph – you have to love European diesels. Sylva striker 1600cc Dunell zetec: More power equaled more fun in the dry and more underwear changes in the wet Honda cbr600: Figured my riding talent hadn't improved since the gsx but bike handling and tire technology had. Audi A6 station wagon: Determined to find 4wd alternative to a SUV for upstate NY winters Present 1967 Lotus Elan s3 fixed head: Still waiting to be put back together after years storage in UK 1972 Lotus Elan plus 2: another one in storage in UK, not as cool as the baby elan but a lot more capable 1998 Caterham 1700cc Supersprint in the middle of major organ transplant - midswap to a BDA but more of that later 1970 Lotus Elan s4 drophead - promised my wife I would rebuild it in time for the summer, but forgot to mention which summer 2007 Honda Pilot: I still don't really like SUVs but the kids have friends and 7 seats and a DVD player come in handy every now and again 2002 VW Passat 4 motion - its tow rating is half that of the pilot but it stops twice as quickly with the Caterham on the back. Future wish list Late 50's lotus elite Lotus 49: (I can dream) Early 70's Ferrari 246 gt Dino Landrover series 2 lightweight aiportable Riley mph Ariel Atom or Radical Ducati

yellowss7
Hmmm...I am trying to work out if you were really bad in a previous life or the Caterham was early parole after serving a lengthy prison sentence? :nopity: :seeya: Just a poor working stiff who had other priorities. The Caterham was my third choice. I originally wanted a 67 427 vette convertible, or an early Etype Jag. Realized that they were nice but old cars that didn't really handle like more modern ones. Someone once told me that the early 7's were the best handling road cars ever made and I looked into them, but again they were 40 old English cars that were fragile when new, let alone 40 years later and probably raced. That's when I found out that the caterham was the same but new. Proved to be a great choice. I have a great car and great new Friends. Happy New Year!! Tom
william robert
I have had an eclectic variety of cars over the years. Some were just to get from point A to point B. Some were used to get from point A to point B fast and in style. Some horrible and some fantastic. Some I'm really glad I got rid of ande some I wish I had back. Here's the list, in chronological order: 1936 Chevrolet 1952 Chevrolet * 1953 Chevrolet * 1954 Chevrolet: *It took all three to have one running and driving car (This was Hight School years) 1960 Bugeye A-H Sprite: Great entre into sports cars 1957 Chevrolet 1969 MGB: My first new car 1962 Ford Econoline Panel Van: Fixed it up into a camper and saw 49 states plus Mexico and Canada in it 1968 Datsun pickup 1971 Toyota Corolla 1600 1966 Shelby GT350H; Formerly a race car that I put back on the street. A real beast. 1967 Ford Country Squire: Tow car for the Shelby 1976 Plymouth Volare Wagon: Bought new and had it for 9 months. Sold it and was happy to get rid of it. Probalbly the worst car I ever owned. My last new car. 1973 Buick LeSabre 1970 Pantera: Great cruiser 1963 Shelby Mk1 AC Cobra: Autocrossed in parking lots and on the track. Never beaten. Now up for auction at Mecum in a couple of weeks. I wish I had that one back. I could retire. 1972 Nova 1973 Maverick: A piece of junk 1968 Chevrolet C 10 pickup 1970 Mustang Mach 1: 351 Cleveland 1970 Mustang Boss 302: Great track car 1978 Pinto; Not that bad, despite all the jokes; great autocrosser 1976 Dodge Magnum: A gift; albiet a not very thoughtful one 1984 Plymouth Horizon 1986 Chevrolet Spectrum 1969 Ford F100 shortbed pickup: Still own 1984 Plymouth Laser 1993 RX7 Twin Turbo: Still own 1992 Chevrolet C4 Corvette: Still own Brunton Super Stalker: Still own 2008 Honda Ridgeline: Stll own. To tow the Stalker to the track Plus a couple of trailers ovder the years, but I guess they don't count. That's 31 and counting. I'm looking to maybe get rid of the Vette and get something else in the spring for a daily driver. I've learned something, good or bad with each car, both about the cars and myself. Have a Happy New Year!!
