Were Offenhauser valve covers standard? and what a bout the chrome altenator? I'm not a corvette guy, but they seem odd to me on a stock untouched car. Am I mistaken?

I had the same thoughts and I have never seen a stock Corvette with those valve covers and the wing nut hold downs.

It looks like it was "dressed up" including the chrome air cleaner. Now it looks like it will sit for another long time.

What a waste of a fast car.

he may have had the Corvette, but he really wanted a Cobra, from the Cobra insignia that is on the left side of the glove box.

In 1967 he could have had a 427 Cobra for the $5k. They were discounting them heavily by that time.
