Kitcat
Is anyone running with a scattershied to protect them against exploding bellhousings, flywheels, clutches, etc? There has been off and on discussion here abt adding driveshaft loops/hoops, but I haver never seen anything on the use of scattershields. Is this something anyone is concerned about? I would assume the need increases in proportion to RPM's and power? Any particular concern with a 200 hp Duratec redlined at 7K?
HOTTTCAR
I used a Quick Time on mine just in case. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=17712

Not as much concern as with 309hp Duratec redlined at 9500rpm! :willy_nilly: I would not worry Mike - you will have spun off the track before that happens....:jester: ok I will be good and leave now...:leaving:
Kitcat
What, me worry? Actually, the question was posed by a potential buyer.
MichaelD
SCCA D Mod rules sataed that DM cars required a scattersheild where the potential for injury to the driver existed anf drive shaft hoops were also required. in Caterhamsnthe flywheel is forward og the foot well and the drive tunnel is boxed in as a result nither was required in a Caterham. slngsht
I had home made front and rear hoops on frankn7. No shield though. The only time I took her to the drag strip to see what she could do, they asked my approximate power and weight, and said to come back with a scatter shield and full cage.
