New Caterham concept

Ok. Here is one. I actually like it. I think that it looks cool, and I also think that in person it would probably look better than these pictures depict. I mean, the actual scale doesn't come across well in the photos because there is no reference to show how small this thing is. But don't forget that big flat hood is really only about 17" above the ground...

I haven't seen one positive comment about it anywhere on the web.

  • It has great seats
  • It says Caterham on the side
  • The gauge cluster is way cool
  • I'd have the only one in El Dorado, AR

Other than that . . . :deadhorse:

For what it's worth, it's not going down too well on the forums in the UK either. Although Caterham are calling it a concept, it's actually going on sale at the end of 2014.

Love "xcarguy"'s comment and picture. It looks like an electric razor Braun would come out with. The sideburn trimmer is the rollbar and it's on the end you hold so you can't see what your trimming. I already had one and threw it out.

Just watched the videos and here are my top 10 comments:

1. Our cars are hard enough to get into, but this one... You never see anyone getting in or out.

2. Looks big in the video, the size of a Z4 or bigger.

3. Does it have enough Christmas lights? And where are the headlights?

4. Lotus 7s are simplicity its self. The electronic displays are for the youngsters and don't belong on a 7 or a replica.

5. Will be almost impossible to restore 30+ years from now.

6. Seems to bog down when spun. Imagine the embarrassment on the street, when showing off for your friends, if it stalls.

7. Where does the roof go?

8. Are the slats between the green and the grey at your elbow to assist with getting water into the cockpit when it's raining?

9. Won't have much damage when you hit small animals on the road... they'll be sucked in and shot out the side vents.

10. It's hard enough working on the engine in a seven with the clam shell fenders. How much fun would it be on this car without scratching the bodywork?
