about the 2015 Mustang and it,s 3 engine options....

"The 2.3 liter Ecoboost four cylinder offers 305 hp and 300 lb-ft torque together with light weight and great fuel economy".

Sounds like a hell of a little engine and ideal for a 7, wonder if it would fit?

PS, there is also a fascinating in depth article about the build of the new worlds speed record attempt car , The Bloodhound, unbelievable, with 1050 mph top speed and the mile covered in 3.6 seconds!

This is a little better:

The exhaust manifold is integrated into the cylinder head which should help packaging quite a bit. I had asked Ford Racing if the previous ecoboost engine shared pierce points with the duratec. Unfortunately they said the engine mounts, bell housing, and sump attachments are all different. Of those I think the sump would pose the largest issue since it would make the very nice cosworth dry sump unusable.

It would be a cool engine. Anyone up for a project?

I had a Range Rover Evoque for a couple of weeks recently powered by it's little brother, the 240hp 2.0 Ecoboost and don't let the size or HP figures fool you, the torque is incredible - I actually thought it had the Range Rover Jaguar 5.0 V8 in it for the first few minutes.

So I think the 2.3 is going to change a few minds.

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=22999 for only 8K you can have this. Looks impressive but ford has a bad habit of letting the public troubleshoot new engines ( ask anyone with a 6.0 diesel that they cannot sell) My self I would go for a lowly Miata engine with the Flying Miata turbo, cheaper and likely more reliable.

Yes, dual VVT...same as previous 2L and GM's ecotec. These engines definitely have a wide torque curve :).

Height may be the killer for a 7. I'm not positive, but there is a guy on the CSR forums that made mention of it not fitting so he's building a 2.5L duratec. The GM ecotec should just barely fit (claims to be verified).

I was long contemplating putting in the new mustang v6 into the stalker. In short, it only doesn't "fit" because the intake manifold is not centered. The LS1 is hardly bigger overall, and actually fits, whereas the v6 would have to cut a nice hole into the hood.

Manshoon11,

Sounds like it's time for an LSx. Wait!! What was it you said about NEVER having more than 250HP? :jester:

You trying to kill me?

I'm lighting my wheels up in 3rd with 170 ish at the crank.

I'm actually thinking of going smaller, not larger. I have some acquaintances that are offering to do a certain engine swap for pretty cheap. There is something that annoys me about a crammed engine bay.

Once I move back to Texas, I'll show you what 250 hp does to 500 hp at the track. I need an overpowered car to pick on, do you mind being that one?

I think it'd be a hoot! And you can show me a good line through Rattlesnake! :jester: When you moving back?

The wife says we can't stay in California for more than 3 more years. We can't afford to buy a home in Cali, and I'm tired of not having a garage.

Yeah, a lot of people slack off in rattlesnake. When I was still on street tires, I hit about 60 mph at the location marked in the picture. I'd have to look at my AIM solo data to see how fast I was on R comps. Probably not much faster as I took rattlesnake in 3rd vs 2nd.

It shouldn't be an issue and I'd thought of using the engine prior to deciding on the the RST-V8. It would be great to see one in a Caterham.

The new Zenos E10 (Ansar Ali's new company) is using that engine (non-turbocharged, 2.0L). It's on the cover of EVO magazine right now and there are some pretty good shots of the engine inside. We can source this crate engine for you if you decide to pursue it.
