Al N.
The recent listing of that Birkin in NY and the comments there, not to mention Mr. Ebrahimi's own efforts over the past year, led me to think that very few people leave their cars in "as purchased" condition. So what mods/upgrdades have you done since getting your car? And if you feel you have the time/energy...what mods/upgrades do you think are essential for the type of car you have (kind of the opposite of that "what mods do you wish you had not done" thread). I'll start: ATL Fuel Cell Custom Fabricated Sump Guard* Dual 12v power outlets Jet Hot Coated Headers Jill Judd Half-Hood Jill Judd Trackday Cover Raceline Water Rail *I'd say out of all of these things, the Sump Guard is the only MUST. stevet
Changed original 16" wheels for 14's (much better handling) Momo steering wheel for original (nicer feel, plus now I can actually get in!) Intake cam upgrade (at least I think it's an upgrade - time will tell...) Jill Judd half hood (still not fitted... one day) On my wish list - bigger brakes, 13" wheels and tires, long first gear, Watts linkage, Cosworth Duratec... and, of course, the winning lottery ticket that's going to pay for it all. locost7018
Windshield. The wind deflector just did not cut it. Windshield wipers. Just in case. Bikini top. Also just in case and it is nice on hot sunny days. Hood scoop for air cleaner that sticks out of the hood. Looks just like the cover of "Lotus 7 and the Independents" Rear boot. Usable space to haul beer without it falling on the pavement. Installed a heater. Now I can stay warm in the winter while going to get the beer. Next winter: Install an 1800cc Miata engine and trans to replace my Ford xflow1300cc. I'll more than double my HP. Hope the dif can take it. Getting beer will be faster now. Make doors New fuel cell New dash insturments New pedal assy. Russ
scannon
I can't really call it an upgrade since there wasn't and engine or transmission to start with, but I have "upgraded" to an 1,800 cc Miata engine and transmission with the addition of a turbo, intercooler and custom exhaust system. I have also swapped out the original MOMO steering wheel for a used no-name (literaly - I can't find any ID on it at all) wheel that is about an inch larger in diameter. I have threaded coil spring adjusters in the shop, to be installed next week. I need to raise the car a bit to get back some of the sump clearance I lost. I also have the Caterham chin spoiler and the whiskers for the nose cone ready to be installed sometime soon. Future plans include: Brooklands windscreens Adaptors to fit Miata wheels on the Caterham hubs so I can use my lightweight 15" wheels and track tires on both cars. Video camera mount Bore & stroke the Miata engine to 2 liters, head work and forged internals for about 340 WHP. Other than that, I will keep it stock. Center mounted LED brakelight on roll bar Plus brake fluid sensors in all three master cylinder reservoirs. New Battery Cutoff Switch .. New Rear Fenders and tail lights still need to be installed. Boxologist
luckily mine was well sorted for what i wanted. but it still doesn't stop:_deadhorse: picked up a softbits e-bag. very nice. i have a 1/2 hood with them now waiting to be modified for a 2nd ez-in and a yellow sripe to be added. i just added 2 SPA CF mirrors i got the mirrorsforseven panoramic unit when i knocked the caterham unit off over the winter. was driving just with thereflective nature of the chrome headlamps! i have to add the rear fog and reverse lights that came a couple of days ago. acouple of new wiper blades came with those. i learned how to install those, even though i haven't yet. i'm waiting for some reason on installing the 12V outlet. i have one, i just have been a sloth. now that the GPS has been sent back to teh manufacturer for sevice, i should take care of it i have an extra set of large Rockblocker film that i will install over the headlamp glass. I have my autoX tyres, bridgestone re-01r, i just need my other set of wheels :nopity: arriving with that will be 1/2 doors and the caterham 3rd brake light. easier to fit that that modify the 1/2 hood for some reason. in the future i would like a quick release for the steering wheel, maybe go over to the black pack stuff. SVT shortblock when i have full control of this bugger.
