xcarguy
Going to be in the Los Angeles area for a couple of days (flight crew layover). We'll have most of Thursday (tomorrow) / Thursday evening and Friday free. Suggestions on what to do while there.
subtlez28
Look up Jay Leno. I hear he is kind of a car guy. Or, if you travel the correct streets, I am certain you will be approached by some friendly folks looking to befriend an fine Arkansas gentleman... dvl
There is lots to do, but around LAX and the general LA area. Here's my quick list. Car/Aircraft Museums: Automotive Driving Museum (http://www.automobiledrivingmuseum.org). It's right next to LAX, but relatively small. It's a good way to spend 30 minutes to an hour. Museum of Flying (http://www.museumofflying.com). It's small also, but worth the visit. The museum is located on the grounds of the Santa Monica Airport. The Peterson Mueseum Book Stores: AutoBooks AeroBooks in Burbank (http://www.autobooks-aerobooks.com). If you have a rental car it's definitely worth the drive. Jay Leno and other car owning celebs stop in pretty regularly. Roads/Driving: Drive up Mullholland and have lunch at The Rock Store (another Leno hang out). http://www.rock-store.com Drive up Angeles Crest Hwy in the San Gabriel Mountains and have lunch at Newcomb's Ranch. (http://newcombsranch.com) This is my favorite motorcycle/driving road. Use caution and watch out for motorcyclists, bicyclist, cars, and cops. I hope this helps, Back to work (you can email me with questions if needed dvanlueATgmail.com) Dave
xcarguy
Well, here we are. Beautiful day in L.A. For now, it's Hermosa Beach for lunch. Skipping the hairdresser and padicure.
xcarguy
Just had lunch with Manshoon11 at Hennesey's; nope, no Vipers in the parking, but right next to Hermosa Pier and a great ocean view. Tomorrow, we'll take dvl's advise and try the Rock Store for lunch. Who know's, maybe we'll see Jay. Manshoon11, I'm now on the 405, headed north, staying out of your way. Manshoon11
I told XCarGuy over lunch how I was looking for another carbon fiber seat for my Stalker. While we were eating I got a PM at Lotustalk.com from a seller of a seat. What luck! Until he sent me a 2nd email (after I first responded) "Hi Anthony, I still have the Reverie Mulsanne C seat for sale in excellent shape and condition as seen in the attached photos. I'm asking $850 shipped for it. I will be shipping via UPS or FedEx whichever you prefer and shall accept payment via Money gram as my PayPal is dormant. What's your shipping address? thanks, xxxxx." He attached 5 pictures of a reverie seat from the below link. This was my reply " I will pass. 1. http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f95/sold-1-reverie-mulsanne-c-carbon-fiber-seat-89030/ 2. Money gram 3. Brand new profile 4. Too cheap However, If I am mistaken, I would gladly pay via an escrow service. (I'd initiate and cover the escrow fees on top of upping the total price to $1000) https://escrow.com/ " I am frustrated that I got my hopes up and frustrated that someone thinks I am that stupid.
