  1. Ditto Croc: How can a stupid hunk of metal that will soon dissapear from view, nonetheless be made with such sensual, clean lines?
  2. Have heard similar concerns before. I can say that he built my 1st Caterham and the build was flawless: unlike the TMW Birkin I bought wh/had to basically be rebuilt part by part. Also have had many dealings for parts, always on time, and for advice, always helpful. Told me not to buy the Birkin-I shudda listened. Just another perspective. Buyer beware is always good advice when buying used cars and esp true of used ''kit cars."
  3. Jeez, SuperSport, Caterham flat-out stole yr paint scheme. Least they can do is donate the new engine as partial compensation:)!
  4. It's now on their Facebook site. I will leave it up to Croc to supply the link.
  5. It has 1100 miles on it. I suspecct the link is to the original sevens and elans listing wh/they just put back up on their website w/o modifying to reflect that it's now a used car. Or it's the original for-sale listing and Croc has sleuthed it out from archives at sevensandelans and linked to it?
  6. Yes, thx, must have just been added. I am trying to wipe the drool off my keyboard:)!
  7. At Sevens and Elans. A 2006 with Cosworth Duratec, 1K miles approx. $67K. Blue w/white stripe. I have seen photos and it's lovely. Don't see it on their website wh/hasnt been updated in a while, or on their Facebook, wh/is pretty current. As a side issue, they also have an like-new 6 sp Quaife dog box for sale (under 1K miles). Negotiations begin at $10K, $1K under new.
  8. Noble M400 was on my list for a long time. Even bid (a lot) on one on E-bay but not enuf. Later got an e-mail from an owner who said they are great, but fall apart with great regularity, need many upgrades to be trackworthy, etc. So I ultimately passed. The one track comparison I saw with a Caterham, the Caterham was much quicker (4 seconds a lap?). Noble was replaced by Rossion and it apparently was recently purchased by someone who also bought the Mosler "plant" where both will be assembled? Its tough selling "kit cars".
  9. SCH: maybe send Craig an email, he doesnt reguarly visit here (chima97@aol.com).
  10. Corvette: new and used prices are close to new and used Caterhams. On the other hand, the new v-8 Stalkers shd own the track and likely cost considerably less than a new, high spec Caterham. So it depends on which Lotus replica is being discussed. I think folks who drive se7ens are motivated to do so by more than pure track performance. So even tho I occassionally get waxed at the track by well driven 'Vettes, I am not even slightly tempted to own one. Not saying it's a bad car: it's awesome, just not my cup of tea.
  11. I "fell under the spell" (to quote Peter Egan) of the se7en in 1962, at age 16. Forty five short years later, I bought my first of 3 and counting. Well worth the wait. Little things kept intruding, like college, law school, wife, family, house, remodeling house, furnishing house, kids, kids college, saving for retirement, etc., etc.
  12. Is this the same course that you just got FTD on (per the Chasing the Dragon thread elsewhere here), or is this a nearby road?
  13. Klassic: Any idea why a top pro rally team from Italy wld enter this little SCCA sanctioned mostly amateaur event? Does it have a long history? Is it particuarly challenging? It harldy is a Pikes Peak. In any event, it is amazing that they didn't win. And, in all honesty, sort of amazing that you were only 10'' off FTD in a street legal se7en. What tires were you running?
  14. Got mine as well yesterday, looks even better in person!
  15. Ya haven't lost yr touch: it is beautiful!
  16. Croc a wizzard? Well, maybe the Great Oz:).
  17. Looks a lot like Caterham's 40th year edition of the seven (vs the 40th anniv of the Caterham, I guess), issued in 1997. Apparently this 2013 version is already sold out.
  18. Sure are a lotta Mikes around here:). Anyhow, since Mike J asked: Mike G is running a GoPro3 White series, per the credit at the end of his vid. Not sure why his sound was so muffled/distorted. When I ran a remote in my boot it sounded pretty good. I recently bought a "wind proof" mic w/the fuzzy stuff. When I got it, the pkg said it was guaranteed to elim wind noise-up to 30 mph (a detail the ad had not mentioned). Mike M
  19. Sorry, I dont, Croc will have to chime in. It was fairly large, but light. He had a variety of them and he may be able to advise wh/brand/model did best. I think he was happiest w/my car's setup, but not sure, stay tuned.
  20. Thx guys, I will order the M10x1.5.
  21. Wow, you are a braver man than I: all I cld see was Armco!!! Did you pre-run it in yr Caterham, or tow vehicle, prior to the race so that you knew just where the road was going? Our buddy Croc has made a hobby of dialing in GoPro's, etc., on track and I am sure he'll have some wisdom. When he wired all our GoPros up for sound at NJMP, he placed the mic in the engine bay, right below the steering column. Mine was held in place w/copious amts of duct tape. That placement eliminated the wind noise that your mic was overwhelmed by (the only time I heard the mighty Zetec was as you were coasting to a stop at the end). The engine bay placement provided a nice, lush exhaust sound, so maybe try that nxt time. He also used a small, self powered mic, at least on my Cat.
  22. OK, I followed Martin's lead and ended up back where I started: does anyone know what thread size is used on the Caterham 6 sp? Martin's link asks that I choose from a lengthy list, starting with M8x1.25. I assume that's metric. It also has a list of thread sizes in inches. Any thots?
  23. I asked for one on yr website yesterday, if sold out, plz add me to the waiting list.
  24. Thx guys. Since it is a Caterham designed transmission, I assumed they wld use a combo of Wentworth and other obscure metrics and that nothing wld fit. I use a driving glove already. This car was driven in endurance races like the 25 hour of Thunderhill, apparently by REAL men, not wimps like me. Maybe they thot that hand pain wld keep the drivers more alert? My favorite suggestion from above is Blubarisax's, followed closely by Slomove's but I will probably opt for somerthing off Martin's list.
  25. I have a Caterham 6 sp transmission. After 3 recent days on the track I have a hole in the middle of my right hand from the abrasive nature of my stubby little gearshift handle, or knob. Also, I am still missing shifts and am hoping a longer handle will give me the needed leverage to put the shift lever where it suposed to go. So, does anyone have a source for a replacement? My Googling has lead nowhere, ditto my look at the Caterham home page/parts dept.
