  1. It does look a lot like a Nowegian Blue Parrot:). I wonder if has expired, passed on....
  2. I just looked up Bora Bora. Truely the middle of nowhere: 4K miles to Sydney, 4.5K to LA.
  3. THAT's a lotta tire! What are tire sizes front/back? Hoosiers?
  4. What a yarn-the essence of sevenism. Cant wait for the tale of the trip cross country from CA to NJ!. I know by now that Bessie is woman enough, the question is: Is Al man enough for it (or foolish enough:))?
  5. There is a write up in this month's Automobile Magazine about Bessie. Apparently she beguiled writer Jamie Kitman with her abundant charms. As I recall, Automobile did a nice story about Orange, also owned by Al N back then, and the USA7's event at the Dragon six years ago.
  6. Will you do my car next:)?
  7. Would love to know target weight (under 1,000 lbs wld seem feasible).
  8. At that price, I was tempted to buy it!
  9. $13.5K???? Wow! It runs, right? Shd sell today @ that price!
  10. I have seen those "Hamburg-Sud" containers everywhere-never suspected they could be full of se7ens:)!
  11. At this point, changing the Constituiton via amendment is a theoretical option at best. The reality is the Constituition also appointed the Supreme Court to "interpret" what the Constitution means. And, over the last 200+ years, the Court has proven that it is willing to ''amend'' the Constitution by varying degrees, mostly small, but sometimes enormous, just to keep things rolling. In other words, it is a practical alternative to the formal, and totally impractical, amendment process. Which is why it makes a huge difference if a majority of the Court's members have a liberal or, (as now) a mostly conservative bent. And, in spite of what they like to say, the conservative element of the Court is just as result-driven as the liberal members. Remember Bush v. Gore? As you know, the conservatives' public stand is against federal intrusion into the purview of states rights-no more power grabs by Big Brother in DC, etc. Except it turns out, when it suits the puroposes of the conservatives. Hence, Forida's state election law was made superfulous by the Bigs in the Supreme Court who liked the idea of a federal power grab when it resulted in a Republican president. Goodbye states' rights, hello Supreme rule by 5 guys in robes. Noy trying to revisit ancient history, just making the point that the Court consistenly does things that suits its purposes, regardless of its stated philosophy of judical restraint and the totally theoretical amendment option.
  12. Plus, the car itself is one massive "air brake": just lift:).
  13. The suspension is apart. Wow, huge damage, the damaged spline is permanetly fused to the 1/2 shaft, hub, disc carrier all banged up, disc gouged, nuts rounded off, etc. All will be replaced.

    Alaska lawyer?

Thx! I contacted Tom and he was supportive/helpful. I had explained to landlord we were be going to talking to attorney, and were going to report him to Chamber of Commerce and Visa. Suddenly the landlord got religion and found us a better place and he ate the cost difference. So a happy ending.
  15. Our long reserved and fully paid for vacation rental place for Sept 3-7 in Seward, Alaska has just been "cancelled" by the owner because he got an offer for the entire month. Any Alaska members here have an attorney to suggest who I could chat with, or a place to file a complaint (we are filing w/Chamber of Commerce, Visa, VRBO).
  16. This is an eternal and unwinnable debate because each side has a point. Not sure why anyone feels the need to debate it or keep the pot stirred on a se7ens site??? The Supreme Court has, rightly or wrongly, mostly settled it in favor of open and ready access to weapons. And its opinion trumps legislation. But since it is here, I wld add that if one were to Google ''Debunk John Lott" there would be lots of info discrediting him. And if one were to google those results, there would be studies discrediting them, and on and on. I had a friend who was shot to death when he walked onto his porch and surprised a robber who panicked and shot him point blank and without warning when simply asked why he was there. My adult son was held up at gun point last month when he was suprised by 3 guys with guns who came around the corner. Even if my friend and son had been packing, the bad guys had the drop on them, any "self protection" was useless. And if my son had a gun and reached for it, he likely would have been shot and killed. I am bothered by the fact that 2/3's of all suicides are by gun (whose going to protect you from yourself?) and that folks living in a house with a gun are 3x more likely to die by a gun than those in a house with no guns. Still, I have best friends who own guns and family members who own guns. They arent stupid, we just see things differently.
  17. Croc: All future memory cards will be well cleansed before each track day (that could have been a lot more embarrassing:))! I tried to do the ''trail-braking" technique our classroom instructor suggested (tho he didnt call it that) and, as a consequence, I was carring lots more speed into turn one and running off. It was a great way to practice the habit of trying not to jerk the car back on the track as soon as the wheels go off. I consider that lesson # 1 in the pantheon of important track-driving lessons. So many drivers' instinct is to yank the car back on track, the drivers' front wheel then catchs the edge of the track and around they go-sometimes right into the trafffic behind them(:.
  18. Brilliant! I need to get that little horn I kept hearing:)! I started to cringe everytime I saw my car (now what have I done?). Excellent mix of sights and sounds. I dont want to think of how much boring tape you watched but I don't think you missed a single one of my misadventures. Where did you get the out of car video of us on track? I will send my $50 for the photo CD. Can't wait for 2014.
  19. Soft pedal, uneven braking, hmm..... In addition to the car "self-steering", the right front brake kept locking up way early, and brake pedal kept getting closer to the floor (will do new brake fluid at same time that all wheel bearings are repacked). What brake fluid are people using? I put 16K miles on my 1st Caterham, wh/had 14K when I bought it and never touched the wheelbearings. Many, many track days as well on it. Just didnt realize this was an issue. I will give Ben a call (he still has my car listed for sale on his site) and then Cat UK, if I strike out. Edit: having read the links above, I mite need a new hub assembly, stub axle. Due to lack of mechanical skills I was unable to dx the extent of the damage but my amateurish dx was "what a mess". Everything was loose, grease and metal shavings everywhere. Hard to believe I didnt lose the wheel going 115mph down the straight and into a high speed right hander.
  20. I lost my passenger side rear wheel bearing at today's track day at Putnam Park racetrack. Car was steering itself down the straight, some times right, then violent left, all w/o any help from me(:. Came in, and the wheel was very loose, too hot to touch. Pulled wheel and the hub/brake disc was very loose, I am lucky it didnt all come off. Anyhow, today's technical question is, what is the replacement for the wheelbearing? Is it from a VW?
  21. This is an adjunct to my 13" wheel/tire thread. I am trying to find a 13" that fits my '03 Superlight. I have the bolt pattern as 4x108 and the center bore as 55 mm (2.16") and, obviously, the wheel size as 13'' (width likely 6-7"). Anyone know the offset? Tire Rack needs that to search their inventory. My Prisoner wheels had 21 mm offset on my original Caterham. The Mog site (only place that I can easily find that sells Caterham-specific wheels) lists various offsets from 21 for a 7x13 wheel, 9 for a 8x13 and 15 for a 9.5x13. Since the Prisoner wheels are 21, and the 13x7 are 21, seems like that is a safe offset # to use?
  22. Bump, in hopes that the photos on the "before the rain" thread can be posted here as well.
  23. These are definetly worthy of inclusion on the "best seven picure ever'' thread, which I have just bumped for ease of reference.
  24. LS6 with a supercharger?. Sure sounded like supercharger whine (along w/sounding great). How much hp? Street tires (heard lots of squealing). What powered the yellow se7en ahead of you? It was the only car that cld run w/you. What makes or models were the other se7ens-you blew by them so fast I wasnt able to ID. Was this a se7ens only event? Who hosted? Looks like a blast (I like that you finished w/a flourish:))!
  25. Regardless of quality, I find the soundtrack very instructive as trackday driving feedback. I can hear myself lift off the gas in the fast corner where I wld swear on a bible I never lift, hear the motor tail off way before the corner that I thot I was charging up to, hear myself get on/off the trottle in places where I shd be smooth. If I compare my "sound" to a fast driver on the same track, I can "hear" where they are faster.
