  1. So cool! I read the article when my monthly SportsCar came (right after my mandatory reading of the Pobst Postion) but didn't make the connection.
  2. Comp 2 for me. Size: 18x34, or, if not possible, 20x40. 30x70? Nope, that's bigger than my car:).
  3. I will take one, thx.
  4. I will take one also, shd they become available at a semi-reasonable price.
  5. Tom: I am guessing the poster's X-flow has same set up as yours. When the hydraulic clutch on my X-flow got dodgy, replacing the blue slave cylinder fixed it. My memory is also that it was a VW part.
  6. His post says 18 inchers. So, tires are likely low profile, as are yours Loren (40-50 series).
  7. Most 7's including mine, run 1&1/2-2 degrees neg camber, some run more. I am a big believer in results trumping theory, so if higher pressures work, great!. Tire mfg makes a difference along w/sidewall stiffness. Hoosiers are said to "like air".
  8. Bessie: I dont usually blush but.... Anyhow, thank God this conversation is totally private.
  9. Those sevens weren't that nice when they were new! (Did I see Bessie the Seven peeking around a trailer, eyes even more filled with lust than usual?).
  10. I rent an open space in a storage lot for $300 a year. I park my se7en there in the enclosed trailer I use to haul it to it track days. Lot is 5' from my house. Since the se7en is so small, I could also fit it into an enclosed storage space there, but dont need to.
  11. JohnK was kind enough to let me take his Ultralite for a road test yesterday. I liked that it started, nothing fell off and we got home under our own power. Given my recent history w/sevens that's big! Stuff I liked a lot; very slick/quick shifter. Always was able to find the right gear. Even after 200 track miles in my track Cat, I am lost occasionally as to wh/of the 6 speeds I am in and where the gear I want is. No problemo, I will learn it-but on John's there was no learning curve. Nice progressive clutch. Great exhaust sound. Tach, smack in front of my eyes, easy to monitor. Vastly fewer creaks, rattles, groans, etc. Not BMW like but much tighter than any se7en I have owned. Stuff I was neutral about: It is less of a rocket ship that I expected. In part because we were mostly cruising highly populated areas so I cldnt get on it. Like all VTEC's power is an on/off proposition. From 6K-8K it makes serious power. Below, modest. And I was usually below. Also, compared to the Civics etc I have driven, the VTEC power change is much more noticeable, perhaps due to the light weight. Seating position-much higher than my butt-on-the-floor Caterhams and Birkin. For better, and worse. Better view, but felt a bit less a part of the car. Stuff I didnt like as much as my other cars: Steering wheel sits real low, ya kinda reach down to your lap for it. Perhaps because the seat was so high? I did like the feel and speed w/which wheel turned the car, just not location. Brakes, not much feel and took a lot of effort to get the car stopped. John says new grippyer pads are under review. Unknowns: handling-didn't really push it. Something about driving in a residential area, w/cold tires on a irreplaceable car with the owner next to ya that adds an element of driving discretion for wh/I am not otherwise known for:). Bottom line: fun se7en that wonderfully captures the spirit and soul of all the se7ens I have owned to date. I'd be happy to have it in my garage!
  12. Love the jackets too:).
  13. Yah, I know I rweally messed up w/thot maid....
  14. If that's a se7en, then I am Arnold Schwarzenegger:). I do like it tho! Edit: And, a visit to their website shows 2 models, the beautiful one in your post, and a second one that is, in fact, a se7en clone.
  15. A quick stop at HD's website shows your weight # is a bit high Croc: Looks like the heaviest machine they make is a trike, at almost 1200lbs. But the Sportster is under 600 lbs and the big touring rigs 800 lbs. I suspect the # you were given was GVW (bike + riders+luggage).
  16. For someone looking for a trackday car, this is perfect. And, at the price, someone w/modest mechanical skills cld probably get is street legal (horn, turn signals, brake lights).
  17. Some designs are so original, and so iconic, subsequent redesigns that stray from the basic concept are doomed: see, e.g., 911, Mustang, Mini, and (IMHO) se7ens, etc.
  18. As I have found at track days, leaving the spare on can promote tail-wag: the mass of the spare tire promotes sideways momentum. Never noticed any issues on the street (where my driving style is somewhat more sedate). Also like the idea of a bit of buffer between me and the cell phone addict in the car following me. I haven't had a new car in years that has a real spare. Most have an air compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter and a can of fix-a-flat. No reason that wont work on a se7en (except for the cigarette lighter part:)).
  19. An SP300/.R ''without the downforce":).
  20. Have them on my Birkin. Mine are single adjustable: when you stiffen compression you also stiffen rebound . Do you also sell double adjustable (separate rebound and compression)? Mine also have adjustable/threaded spring perches so car can be corner weighted. They have worked fine on the street and track.
  21. For your own protection, do not view past the 3' mark, trust me here!
  22. I had the same experience as Loren. My phone is now set to operate via the ''cloud", a misleading name if there ever was one. I read recently that Google built one of its cloud centers near a hydroelectric dam in Washington state so that it wld have access to clean energy. It also added backup diesel generators in case the hydro power failed. The back up units can generate the elec power equal to 1/3 of a nuclear power plant. That is one energy-consuming cloud!
  23. One of my track day mantras is: "Never underestimate the Miata".
  24. Also saw that the NJ GP is in jeopardy (huge surprise).
  25. The Maz is freking unbelievable.
