  1. Yes, a TDI Touareg. Except for the unpronounceable, meaningless name, I love it.
  2. I have been v happy w/my '11 Touareg. It can tow 7700 lbs, gets 32 mpg at 70 mph, 22mpg around town, and has the footprint roughly the size of an Accord, so easy to drive. Towing my 16' enclosed trailer it gets abt 12 mpg @ 70mph.
  3. Three weeks to go. I saw on the Noble/Rossion Forum that a coupla those cars are coming Monday 6/25. Always been a dream of mine to own one. They weigh under 2500 lbs, have 400 hp, kind of what I imagine Colin Chapman wld bld if still alive. Will be interesting to see how they match up w/the mighty se7ens gathered there.
  4. Steve, yes, no ABS (LOL!) or inboard suspension. Such mis-descriptions are what happens when non-se7en types list both a CSR and a S3. It does have everything you'd ever want for tracking tho, incl full cage, dry sump, big brake kit, 21 gallon fuel cell, full body race seat w/helmet wings, lap timer, 4 sets of tires wheels (full rain, lite rain 2x slicks). I agree, I got a fantastic deal for so much kit, and they are splitting cost of shipping it. Hopefully I will have in time for NJMP. Mike M.
  5. Congratulations, excellent replacement vehicle. Don't be shy abt updating us with a little car comparo: the car mags never seem to do a se7en vs 'Stang matchup.
  6. The U.S. owner of this car says his family has $125K in receipts in US $$$$'s for this car.
  7. Scott has advised me that he wont be w/us this year. He is going to Hyperfest tho.
  8. Karl: You make sooo much sense:).
  9. Noticed this car is currently offered for sale at Park Place LTD, in Bellevue, Washington for $64,950. Click on "pre-owned", then "general inventory", then "Caterham"(how many dealers have a Caterham category?). I just bought an '03 Zetec Caterham from them. They were a pleasure to work with.
  10. Its so cool it makes me want to ditch my se7en because it's too practical, and get this:)??? " Other than crossing the center line occasionally and looking thru, rather than over, the steering wheel, it looked wonderful. What have you spotted?
  11. U-Haul has lots of tow vehicles, probly not cheap tho(:. Or, just drive the se7en to the event like Croc does:)!
  12. Funny, and completly false per Snopes. Was a satire, totally made up.
  13. I think Hank's Westfield would round out my collection nicely:). (And I seriously thot abt it, before buying this one).
  14. I just bought this Caterham. Decided to go full-tilt w/dedicated track car and skip the street experience. Mike
  15. I now have 2 cars. Wish I had a bigger trailer, I'd bring both:). Karl, you can always rent a car. One of the little spec racers the track rents maybe, or a spec Miata. The rent-a-racer place on SCDA site also has a track prep'd Camero for rent-I think you'd fit in it.
  16. Skip & Terry: And any others who have added big power to your Caterhams, vis turbo's or sc, had to do anything to the rest of the car? Like beef up the clutch, tranny, diff, rear suspension? Most of the discussion here has been philosophical as in: does too much power spoil the essence/purity of a na cat? My question is more practical and is limited to post '96 Caterhams, in the off chance I might end up with one again (soon).
  17. I took Croc's advice and bought slightly used Duratec w/9K miles and will add cam, ITB's, water rail from current motor and call it done. Shd be good for 200 hp and live a long happy life. Will modify oil pan w/"trap door". I will have it tuned and will post dyno sheet once done.
  18. He is finally moving so we shall see. I thot abt that, plus lots of other options including a new or used se7en. We shall see what finally transpires.
  19. Mechanic finally is working on the motor. The #4 cylinder spun a rod due to oil starvation. Let the rebuilding begin. Really are not a lot of aftermarket options for the Duratec. Sure, Cosworth makes great stuff-like a crank for $3.5K:). But I was not planning on spending much more than that for whole engine. The turbo option is popular but I decided to pass on that (for now). I communicated with Forum member 1TurboFocus. Tom has built many Zetec/Duratec engines, done 100's of Zetec/Duratec tunes and designed after market parts, like rods and turbo systems for both engines. If he weren't so far away, he'd be building it for me (w/o turbo tho). His prices are very reasonable for a pretty high spec engine.
  20. I'll ck w/SCDA, I think my Touareg wld be awesome-it's just a Porsche Cayenne w/VW badge. And, I'd own the corner entrances-who is going to challenge that towering beast? I cld run right over a se7en and not even notice:).
  21. Decisions, decisions. I'd love to rent the Caterham but @ $1,300 a day, $2,600 for 2 days it's pretty steep.
  22. As my repair saga drags on (and on and on) w/little/no progress I am examining other race car options. It looks like SCDA has Spec Miatas for rent. That is quickly becoming my plan B for the ever increasing chance that my worthless mechanic will be working on excuses rather than repairs over the next 4 weeks.
  23. Kitcat

    Hot Feet

Switching to Brooklands really cooled down my Caterham's cockpit. Still hot, just not AS hot. Better wind flow over body too.
  24. Doug. Congrats! Bring both cars to NJMP!
