  1. Good driver. He highlights what is wrong with F-1 when he struggles to find a ride, and Maldonado gets a seat every year. But...that's professional racing. I never saw Kobayashi as overly aggressive. As for his countryman Sato..well....
  2. Many thanks guys for the tips.
  3. I wouldn't drive a car that I welded.
  4. Photo attached. This is the forward port-side mounting arm. It's a bit tricky to get the camera down in there to show the separation, but in person the arm has detached and wedged itself on the head of the bolt above it.
  5. Hello, I have a Zetec ZX3 with a cracked engine mount. I noticed some Zetec mounts on the Raceline website. Does anybody have any other recommendations?
  6. Living in Austin with a 7. You are a lucky man. I remember a buddy of mine asking me to drive his new S2000 from San Antonio to Austin, because he didn't know how to drive a manual when he bought it. Great time. Devils Backbone, as well as any road between Dripping and Kerrville will keep a smile on your face for many years.
  7. Cowell will drive it once, complain about the lack of integrated SatNav and seat massagers, and it will rust ingloriously in a back garage of an estate in Chelsea.
  8. That is indeed helpful, since I'll likley be opening my own plate up for a pump out/fill in a couple of weeks. I'll be sure to keep it aligned. Did you have to replace the gasket, or do you just check it for wear and re-use?
  9. Hi Craig. Email sent.
  10. Is anyone using a radiator washer different than the fiber washer supplied by Caterham?
  11. I spent about a year researching and driving SC's through 964's before switching course to a 7. Zimmerman's 'Used 911 Story' should have been reason enough for the change of heart. Frankly, it's amazing 911's get around as well as they do, given their design. It's much easier (and less insane) to find the limits on a 7. And you don't need to take out a line of credit with Dieter to get it fixed.
  12. Hi Ron,

I'd be interested in a photo of the seats. I have a green 7 with a yellow stripe, so they may actually match.

    Thanks,

    David

  13. I'm not picky. Pretty much any rail mounted seats would likely do. I have the cheap bench seats. My current plywood and carpet padding seats are actually comfortable after my rear goes completely numb, but deathly uncomfortable up to that point.
  14. Ahh, I guess that would make sense to avoid pressurization. And today after running the car a bit, I noticed that indeed oil is coming from the cam cover. I'll look around here for potential causes. Hoping I don't have piston ring issues...
  15. I had noticed the bogging down in 5th, and I am running 15 inch wheels. I had also considered changing to the 6 speed transmission to help, but I have a lot of research to do there before proceeding.
  16. Hello group, The car I recently purchased (Zetec ZX3 including Raceline wet sump) was dripping oil two days after I got it home. I found the oil was actually coming from the bottom of a catch can from the PCV valve. The hose is loosely stuck in the can through an over-sized grommet, and I expect I either have a pinhole in the bottom of the plastic can, or its from the weak seal of the hose entering the can. The dipstick I have reads that the oil level is spot on middle. However, the prior owner appears to have made a mark just below the "low" mark on the dipstick. So, how accurate are the dipsticks? Would the Raceline sump throw the dipstick measure off if it's a stock Ford dipstick? Plenty of power. No misfire. No smoke. So I expect I'm probably just overfilled with oil. Anyone else have this issue? I'll thank you in advance for this, and future questions. New owner, so I'll probably be a pest for a month or so.
  17. Many thanks all! Great information. I did end up purchasing the car. If there is more horsepower to be gained, I'm not sure what I'd do with it! Fantastic drive.
  18. Leather was holding hoses in place that they said were moving around. They had it dynod when they had the engine installed. Sadly they kept none of the paperwork when they bought the engine, nor do they have the paperwork from the dyno. The ITB setup would be consistent with the super sport performanc package at that time, so that would be good news.
  19. Pic of nose cone off, but blurry. Not sure I got far enough back in the photo to see what you would want to see.
  20. I recently looked at a car advertised with Zetec's performance package, built around the year 2000. My understanding was the package included upgraded heads and cams for a near 200hp output. The model I saw appeared didn't appear to have a modified head, and nothing on the cam cover seemed to indicate an upgrade. My concern is that it is a stock Zetec with about 130hp or 140hp. Does anyone else have this setup original from the dealer? I've attached a couple of pics. Sorry to not have more specifics. I'm a noob, so perhaps ford applied the upgrades in a fairly stealth manner. All thoughts appreciated.
