  1. If you're close to a copart, I have another idea. Watch for a recent Polaris Slingshot (not the earlier GM engine). The Polaris should be light, the ECM and harness, etc. and Miata transmission in one shot. 210 horses with factory reliability. The people that buy them crash with incredible frequency, so copart has a bunch. Alas, it may take a while to find a stick shift as most riders choose automatic.
  2. Volkswagen Type 1. Built 1938-2003. Same basic engine throughout. Added FI etc. at the end. But they all drove remarkably the same. Same steering feel, same sound, same shifting...
  3. " C'est la Vie. I have to remember that this is a totally-stock 1700 Super Sprint and I can't expect miracles." If you're fast it's the driver. If you're slow, it's the car.
  4. "UK/Ireleand were able to do a tour here in the same way how we can drive our cars to Canada and why we see Quebec plates around upstate NY quite a bit. You're allowed to temporary have your car in other countries as a visitor. Less common with cars from the other continent for obvious reasons but you're allowed to do so nonetheless. You could drive your 7 in Europe if you wanted to." The temporary importer to the US must be a legal resident of the other country. You can't bring over a bargain British car to drive for a period, then return it, unless you can prove legal residency in England. Like Croc said, too complicated to be worth it, unless not built.
  5. You just need to drive a ways to the friend? Then it will be flushed to be refilled with new coolant? Why not just top off with water for this excursion?
  6. I thought we grade on a Curve, so all builders get an A.
  7. Off this topic, but @Croc you're going to have to tell me about the 1965 Holman Moody Mustang. Certainly doesn't look like a FIA Group 2 from '65. I dragged a 68 or 69 customer H.M. back from Mexico, and a bunch of '65-69 Trans Am Mustangs and Shelbys. PM or post in "other cars" section.
  8. You could hava V8: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/lotus-seven-roadster/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_2648441
  9. Hyper is an appropriate handle. You are burning it up with this build. Going for a "solo-regular garage" speed record? Keep up the great work. You must be hyper anxious to enjoy the driving.
  10. Congrats on the scope good fortune. That's a new one as far as I have heard. Too bad Champion wasn't more help, it would have been nice to know the original length to compare with an autopsy of the bad one.. I'm a bit surprised they didn't ask to see it. I wonder how hard the electrode material is. All's well that ends well.
  11. Thanks for posting. Great photos and a wonderful article on the Ferguson. What a master piece!
  12. Completely off topic, but what a car. 30 odd photos with interesting details. Amazing: https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/1924-mercedes-benz-targa-florio-race-car-first-drive-review-feature/photos/
  13. Congratulations. Nice looking car. Ditto the wanna see the intake.
  14. Did someone mention carrying a tool bag with tie wire, zip ties, tools (minus the one you will really need)?
