  1. As you mentioned, California does require one on the front, but I don't have one and I've never seen a Seven here with a front plate, or have heard of anyone being stopped for it. I suppose the CHP have more important problems here in California!
  2. I keep all the important papers in the pocket of a small back pack, along with small tools, fuses, etc. The pack is nice because I can put my removable steering wheel in it and take it with me if I'm parked where I can't keep an eye on the car. The pack sits in the passenger footwell or boot when I'm driving.
  3. Thanks Jeff and Martin, I ordered a set of 9 inch fenders from Coveland, and I'll let everyone know how it turns out. They are available in various colors, so maybe I'll get lucky and the green that I ordered will be a close match to my car!
  4. I'm looking for a source for wider front cycle fenders than what are currently on my Birkin. The effective inside width of the stock Birkin fender is only about 8 inches which will fit a 195/15/50 size tire but not the more readily available 205's. I've already checked a Caterham fender and it won't work. Any suggestions on where to look? Thanks!
  5. Works for me Boy, there are lots of early risers this morning!
  6. I've heard good things about the Toyo R888 from the UK guys, but still not available here in the states. Anyone know why? Probably not the best for street use, but looks like a agressive track tire. http://www.toyo.com.au/img/R888.jpg
  7. Done! thanks Mazda
  8. Here is the address of the photo, taken by Doug at the California Caterham Club web site. Seven Se7en's packed in a two car garage, and yes we could still close the door! >http://www.californiacaterhamclub.com/chat/attachment.php?attachmentid=235&d=1176864104 (Scott's Megabusa is in the front center)soareyes2007-04-17 20:03:08
  9. Sorry, no photo as I forgot the camera. Maybe Gert (Slomove) can post the photo of our seven Sevens packed in the rental garage, which includes the Megabusa. Scott's car has a full cage now so he must be serious about racing! Unfortunately an oil leak and rain on Sunday limited his track time.
  10. Scott, the current owner of that Megabusa, is bringing it out to our NASA event this weekend (Buttonwillow, Ca.). I'm looking forward to finally seeing the car in person as I too followed dp's build with great interest(before I had my own Seven!). If I get a good photo I'll post it up here.
  11. Thanks! That was quick!!! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif
  12. Hi Al, Your post reminded me of this question, but I wasn't sure who to ask: how do I get my status changed from Groupie to Member under my name? I paid the membership fee when I signed up for PNW2007 awhile back. Thanks!
  13. Yes, I think the second color scheme option of black with gold and silver trim would look better than the car in the photo above. soareyes2007-03-01 09:14:32
  14. I agree! I wonder if the name has anything to do with the old Lotus Eleven? This new car could be seen as a modern interpretation of the old Eleven. I'm glad they didn't name it the 7-Eleven http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gifsoareyes2007-03-01 08:43:16
  15. Found these on Autoblog today. First, Caterham is releasing a limited edition Seven celebrating the 50 year anniversary: http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/270207-a-cat_450.jpg Full article is here: >Caterham Second, Lotus is releasing a track-only derivative of the Elise, and it looks wild: http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/lotus_2-eleven.jpg Full article here: >Lotus 2-elevensoareyes2007-02-28 16:22:15
  16. This may be helpful to any Birkin owners. I bought the same Caterham half doors that Al has, and they fit my Birkin perfectly. They come without the snaps installed so you can place them where you want. They really cut down on the air blowing in from the side.
  17. Wow, that is one neat, clean garage! What brand garage floor paint did you use? It looks great!soareyes2007-02-20 16:35:00
  18. Jack, I loved the second comment on your YouTube video: Do you ever stop at stop signs, or are they for other people? At least you used your turn signal, sometimes. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif Tell the guy it's what we on the left coast call a "California stop", it's the intent that counts. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif

    Not fair

That's a long drive to pick up a car! Did you get a new toy? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif
  20. I enjoyed the video, but I just can't get use to them driving on the "wrong" side of the road!
  21. Yes, this one at 2.9 seconds: >http://www.tigerracing.com/cars/tiger-z100-main.php Twin bike engines, four-wheel drive (one engine drives the front, the other the rear). Maybe its not a Seven anymore, more like a Fourteen? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gifsoareyes2007-01-29 12:13:47
  22. Yes, that was my car. I was there with our local British car club, but I've never told them that Birkins are made in South Africa! I also use to fly full scale sailplanes back in the 80's with the Antelope Valley Soaring Club, back when El Mirage field was open. The club owned a 1-26, 2-32, Blanik, and an open class Cirrus. The only flying I do now is of the low-flying variety http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif

  24. Wow, that is a big weight difference! As I look into this more, I'm finding that most track radials are designed for heavier cars than ours, whereas lighter bias plys like the ACB10 can work well on lighter cars. (broad generalization with many exceptions I'm sure!)
  25. It's a nearly stock Zetec (larger throttle body, Pectel ECU, light flywheel), and I'm told about 165 hp. The wheels the car came with are 15x7 all around with 195/50/15 tires. I've since put new tires on these wheels, retaining the 195's up front but 215/50/15's on the rear. Honestly, the only reason I went larger in the rears is because I think they look better filling out the wheel wells! On the street I don't think I could tell any performance difference in the slightly wider tire.
