  1. Mazda, where would you like the PNW tour participants to post pictures and commentary as the tour progresses? I'm assuming (and hoping!) some of us will want to post periodically. Less than 3 weeks till the start! :hurray:
  2. I was going to suggest drinking a bottle of wine, the plugging the hole with the cork, but I guess that would have been the wrong way to go! Glad you diagnosed the problem before starting the tour :hurray: One leak down, two to go.
  3. Bruce, I looked up the specs on the Canton Mecca filter and I see that it filters down to 1 micron. The Jegs filter I just put on is only rated to 40 microns. Should I replace mine with something that filters better, or is 40 microns acceptable? Thanks!
  4. Being a long time Mac guy too, I'm tempted, but Cingular has lousy service in my area. Also, I got stuck with the first generation "hand's free" device and swore I wouldn't jump the gun on new technology anymore: www.technow.ca/Hands%20Free%20Cell%20Phone.jpg
  5. Wow, Bruce, that is a very nice (and clean) setup! Is the main advantage of using steel braided fuel line durability? While I was replacing my pump, I went ahead and replaced the 4 year old rubber lines as they were looking weathered, but I just used rubber again. The new pump solved my fuel starvation problem I was getting at higher revs. Thanks Mazda, Seth, and Bruce for your help!
  6. Is the sensor end dirty/loose/broken? On my Birkin, the sensor seems very vulnerable located at the end of the drive shaft tunnel, but so far I've never had a problem. It seems a hit from road debris or even a splash from a mud puddle could put it out of commission.
  7. Nice video! It looks like you had the place to yourself, probably because it was over 100 degrees! I've done the Streets of Willow several times but only clockwise, never counterclockwise like you were doing. Looks interesting in that direction.
  8. Maybe track miles should be counted like dog years - 1 track mile equals 7 street miles
  9. My copy, umm..... I mean my daughter's copy should come in the mail today. Hopefully I will have completed the fuel pump replacement project before it gets here!
  10. Nice skid pad you have in front of your house! How many g's you pull?
  11. With my Birkin approaching 10,000 miles (purchased used with 1000 miles in 2005), I was wondering who on this board had the highest mileage? I don't expect mine will be anywhere near the highest. So post up and we can find out!
  12. I'm replacing my fuel pump and filter on my Birkin this weekend with new units. They are inline, mounted outside the fuel tank. I noticed that the old pump and filter are hooked up so the filter is inline after the pump, but I remember reading somewhere that it is best to put the filter before the pump so that it protects the pump too. Any opinions? Thanks in advance!
  13. Along with the lucky socks, take a narrow pair of driving shoes. When I went to test drive my Birkin, I had to drive barefoot because the street shoes I was wearing were too wide, catching the brake pedal whenever I pushed the accelerator. Don't know about the Locost pedal box though, it could be wider than the Birkin's.
  14. Check with the Map Admin guy, maybe he can help. Oh, wait...... :leaving: Just kidding, but everything popped up automatically when I was inputting my stuff. Looks like you are getting a great response! :hurray:
  15. Woody at MSI sells a set for the Birkin. They fit nicely under the Birkin's fiberglass tunnel shroud, which would give absolutely no protection by itself! 16. cupholder......... from Pep Boys :leaving:
  17. So how does he do that?
  18. You seemed to get very small very quick there! Sounded great too! :hurray:
  19. I just noticed there are 36 active users on this site right now, a new record. 3 are members. Most seem to be in the video section. Did someone post some porn?
  20. I'm not sure, but hopefully nothing of value is inside as I'm sure the building will collapse any day now! Here are some photos of the town from the official Randsburg web site: Randsburg, California
  21. One more, just for fun: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1840850696_DSCN2129_3.jpg
  22. Gert (slomove) and I did a desert/mountain blat this weekend here in S. California. I drove Saturday only, and Gert and his wife Rosie (sp?) made it a two day event and they are probably on the road as I type. Hopefully he will add more about his adventure when he gets home (hint, hint...). Even on a busy Memorial weekend you can find nearly deserted roads here in California. Temperatures were a little warm though, I'm estimating it was about 95 degrees Saturday afternoon once I got down to the lower desert elevations. That's Gert ahead of me: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/586669570_DSCN2064.jpg Roving chicanes: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/172449184_DSCN2059.jpg Our lunch destination, Lake Isabella: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2007121401_DSCN2084.jpg Now you know who "The Gert" is. Wish I had gotten a better picture of Rosie: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1840747444_DSCN2087.jpg After lunch, we seperated and I took the desert route home alone. I stopped at Randsburg, an old ghost town. It was too hot to stay very long: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/588592196_DSCN2135.jpg My total mileage for the day was 348. The last 100 miles looked like this: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2005602005_DSCN2091.jpg At that point I really wanted A/C and cruise control! :ack:
  23. That may have happened as there was mention of a possible trade for a motorcycle in the question section of the listing, just don't know who the question was from.
  24. Kitcat, As Dave said, Birkin has made little improvements each year, with the easy-access transmission tunnel being one of the bigger ones. I've owned two Birkins with the first being a year 2000 chassis, and the current is a 2004 (I like Birkins a lot!). The increased width of the foot box is very small as I still have to wear race shoes in the newer car. The fuses are easier to get to in the new car too (under the bonnet instead of under the dash). I wouldn't consider any of the changes major enough to be a deal breaker though. If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask. Edit - Gert beat me to posting by three minutes! Also: Kitcat - I'm sending you a PM

Camera speed matching rotor speed giving a strobe effect? I wonder if the camera man did this on purpose?
