  1. The lastest issue of the online magazine Winding Road, has an article on the Caterham Roadsport 125. Starts on pg 75... http://windingroad.com/download?issue=new&EMC-Issue21Announcement&attr=Caterham# Bruce
  2. Congratulations Skip! Good to have another Seven on the road!! Bruce
  3. Cool videos Martin...thanks for sharing!! That polished aluminum Lotus Eleven is a work of art!!! Bruce
  4. Hi Dave, Beautiful car and countryside!! Glad to see some more Birkinowners showing up here!! Bruce - Birkin BIY1899
  5. I'm hoping to get my car done for the TotD, but I'll definitely be up for some race weekends at LRP and the Glen. A NEPa blat sounds like fun, too!!
  6. Hi Al, As I mentioned before, I'm definitely interested in a trailer like Michael D's or something similar. Brakes would be a nice option, too. Bruce
  7. Good luck in your new job, Dave! If I remember correctly, Binghamton is not too far from Watkins Glen. I was lucky enough to do a 2-day PCA DE event at the Glen and had a blast!! Lime Rock Park should not be too far away, either. Hope to run into you at one of the local events once I get my Birkin back together... Have fun, Bruce
  8. Hi Al, I'm definitely interested in picking up a trailer the same as Michael D's, or something similar. I know when I talked to the dealer about the trailer, he was recommending getting brakes on it, too. I didn't think it was going to add that much expense to the deal. Let me know the details when you get them, then I can give you a definite answer. Thanks again, Bruce
  9. "all open as the Pilot can't really hack the weight of an enclosed." - I'm in the same boat. I've got a buddy that races 911's that probably has 45k invested in his diesel truck and enclosed trailer. I'm looking at the Colin Chapman version of my buddy's rig!! I'd like to keep the weight of the car and trailer as close to 2000# as I can, so a vehicle with a #3500 capacity can tow it with ease. Let me know how you make out. Thanks, Bruce
  10. Hi Al, Would love to join you guys, but I'll be working on my Birkin that's in pieces. I'd be interested to hear what you find out at the trailer place. I originally had planned on ordering an Aluma trailer like Michael D's, but one of the dealers I talked to didn't seem too interested in ordering it. Then it got put on the back burner... Well, enjoy your ride, the weather's supposed to be great!! Bruce
  11. That last picture should be framed!!
  12. I have two of Dennis Ortenburger's books, "The Legend of the Lotus Seven" and "Lotus Seven and the Independents". I would think with the research he has done on those two books, he would be a wealth of knowledge for all things Se7en. I think he lives in California, and was building a Locost if I remember correctly. Not sure if he is a member or lurker here though... Bruce
  13. Congratulations Skip! I've been following your build and have been very impressed!! Bruce
  14. I know some of you have checked out the DP1 website with the DP1 track car and the 2.8L 375hp V-8 powered Ariel Atom. But if you click on "Past" and go about a third of the way down, there's a nice write-up on the build of his '01 Westfield Megabusa. The website is really interesting for anyone who loves design, engineering, and cool cars!! Here's the link: http://www.dpcars.net/ Bruce
  15. Hi Dean, There's a place in Stratford, Ct. that does a lot of business (and vintage racing) with early Lotus 6's, 7's, and Morgan's that used that motor. I haven't had any personal experience with them, but might be worth checking. http://www.newenglandclassics.com/index.tpl?action=company Hope this helps, Bruce
  16. Sorry for the late reply, but I'd probably check out these sites and ask their opinion: http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/list.php?3 http://www.spritespot.com/ Hope this helps, Bruce
  17. I've had good luck using this penetrating oil called Aero Kroil, along with some heat and some patience. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to cut them off.... Hope this helps, Bruce
  18. That was a great version, thanks for sharing! My wife and I might check them out when we vacation in Florida in a couple of weeks. Bruce
  19. I think those frame shots are of a 1:12 scale Tamiya Caterham JPE model. I've got one of the BDR cycle wing versions, and the quality is superb!! Bruce
  20. Cool video, thanks for sharing!!
  21. Nice car JeanEd!! Love the video too...I must have watched it 10 times!!! Bruce
  22. 2. Here's a good link explaining some of the different Ford gearboxes: http://www.zetecinside.com/xr2/gearbox.htm 3. Don't know. 4. Are they 4-spoke like these?: http://www.revolutionwheels.com/classic_fourspoke.shtml 5. As an owner of a '64 MGB and a 2001 Birkin, I say keep it and drive it. They are two totally different cars. I've driven my MGB as far as 800 miles in a day. It's a much better cruising/traveling car. The Birkin on the other hand, is a LOT more fun to drive but on much shorter trips! PS: You're a lucky dog!! 11Budlite2007-01-13 10:26:43
  23. Same age as the seven. Will be 50 this summer! Bruce
