  1. Unfortunately the 1st of May is an unattainable goal. Both of our schedules preclude us from spending much time on the car until May 12th.
  2. First let me apologize for the crappy phone pics. We both forgot our cameras this weekend. One of the major things I still need to make was the new transmission mount. I decided to go with the lightweight approach. Only took me an hour and a half to make, including modifying my sheetmetal brake http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1157568942_picture0001[1].JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/744880961_picture0002.jpg And, the chassis as it sits now. We added a few more tubes to help stiffen up the tunnel structure and modified one of the cross tubes that was interfering with the trans placement(the bent round tube in the middle of the pic). http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1585725529_picture0005[1].JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1004299210_picture0004[1].JPG And we loaded up the car yesterday and Mazda took it home. The theory is that he will have more time to work on it when he doesn't have to travel 4.5 hours each way to work on it. We'll see
  3. Bob, may I suggest utilizing a bracket that has welds/gusseting inline with the axle tubes? This will signicantly improve the torsional resistance of the bracket. Something similar to the bracket on the right, where the bracket on the left is more like your existing situation.
  4. Fosters? As in the knock off australian beer that tastes like, well, crap? Bob, it looks like typical undercutting of the welds. Who did your welding?
  5. This thread is amazing! This STUPID kid steals a Skyline GTR under the premise that he's going for a "test drive" (car was for sale) and never comes back. Owner of car posts on local forum, and within 48 hours car is recovered through some serious internet sleuthing! http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=3c52fd55dd8b8ceff106070b2c0ad3fd&threadid=212943&perpage=40&highlight=&pagenumber=1 For the impatient folks, guy gets arrested on page 22, pics on page 25, video on page 32
  6. Snuck away from school for the day to work on the car. Who's further behind now Bob? :ack: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/173890452_Rotus without engine 002 (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1874229332_Rotus without engine 006 (Medium).jpg
  7. Glad to see you guys got some enjoyment out of it! The fact of the matter is that the auto trans is what kept me from driving out of it. All the guys I know with manual trannys have no problems driving on their sides. I'm gonna try overfilling the trans a bit and see what happens. BTW, when I got home I pulled the interior door panel and beat the door back out. It works just fine now(had to really slam it to get it to latch before), and the window works great
  8. I don't expect most/any of you to understand why this is fun, but figured I'd post anyway
  9. I'm not up on this whole issue, as I don't watch the news, but from what I've read here, I wonder what ripple effect this might have in other cities with similar laws, such as NY?
  10. I'm curious where all of these crappy roads in disrepair and bridges that are falling down are? All the interestates around here are either very nice, or very much under construction. Now some of the local streets are more potholes than pavement, but I blame that on corrupt localities not a failing tax system.
  11. Right, but are you refabricating large portions of your frame? or just body panels?
  12. LOL, that would be pretty cool. Although a bit drawn out. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be able to sneak away for a weekend or two and do some serious damage to that list of "to-do's".
  13. I can assure you that that is the current condition of the car :ack: It is only more complete in our minds, well at least mine, I think Mazda is still cutting things off in his

  15. Nah, I think I made as many cuts as he did. In case you hadn't noticed, I like cutting up vehicles
  16. Make it the middle of May so Mazda and I have a chance of attending
  17. They would use "sand ladders" Basically long sheets of metal(~18"x48" ) with ridges formed lengthwise to add stiffness and flared holes all over to add traction. They work really well. Land Rover guys use them for when they get stuck too
  18. Ok, maybe iGoogle is what was being linked to. Can someone explain to me what is so amazing about iGoogle?
  19. Link doesn't work for me... Takes me to a generic google page
  20. http://jalopnik.com/361391/boyd-coddington-hot-rod-king-dead-at-age-63
  21. Mazda and I were joking about sending you the whole trunk so you could have that sticker
  22. Very cool YouTube Video
  23. Fantastic!
  24. That concept is not in Mazda's vocabulary
