  2. Oh, I also just picked up an Edelbrock "Uni-Syn" (#4025) to help synchronize the ITB's. You could probably pick one up super cheap at a local British car specialty shop - many cars taken in on trade have one in the boot.
  3. I'm running pure AN. I gave up on SD - don't waste your time. I was stubborn and thought I could do it. Screw it. Run pure AN. I'll have to dig up my AE settings. When you're tweaking AE, watch the TPSdot along the bottom, and try to blip the throttle to a consistent set point. Watch what the AFR ends up with, and richen or lean it as needed. Then move on to the next set point and do the same. I also datalogged and watched where the AFR's went as I moved the throttle. I'd make a note as I went through the datalog of points that went rich or (usually) lean, and tweak the AE settings. Seeing what my foot was actually doing (tpsdot) helped me set ~where~ to set AE, and watching the AFR change helped me set ~how~much~ it should be. Does this make sense??
  4. I'm running used Hoosier R35 slicks. I lost by two full seconds to a CSP Miata on Hoosier A6's driven by an immortal.
  5. Some footage taken by one of my groupies:
  6. I had a blast. Didn't race at all last year, and finally have the MegaSquirt really working for me. Now on a set of vintage Corolla steelies widened to 13x7, and some used Hoosier slicks. The course was stupid tight, and I was pretty rusty but I had a lot of fun. Love the flick-and-catch steering action. Hahahahhahahahahahahaaah!
  7. Mine's a home-built as well, but I'm mostly a lurker. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/skinnyg/DSC00139.jpg
  8. Mine is done with spray-bomb bed liner. Maybe not show quality, but I built it to drive it. Don't mind the wee bit of mud and dead bugs. You can still see a few rock chips on the edge - I should probably tape a bit further around the curve and re-spray. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/skinnyg/BedLiner.jpg
  9. You need a Hydrocopter, used in the movie "Bear Island" (movie filmed up in Stewart BC, where I used to live). You just need cooler winter vehicles.
  10. I teach highschool shop. I have a Hobart in my Metalwork shop. It has survived six years of abuse from a raft of students who won't follow instruction, with naught but a mess of tip replacements. I would have no reservation recommending a Hobart.
  11. It gets better. No wait, it gets worse. Or better. Or both. Definitely both. If you remember the 60's - you weren't really there.

    Wtf

Lucky. I must have had a more sheltered up-bringing. I couldn't hold the hose so well whilst pedaling.
  13. I got to cash in my credits this summer when my sweetie approved the purchase of my dream welder. Life is good.
  14. And if you have PogeyVision like me (bunny ears), you can watch them ALL here: http://www.amctv.com/originals/the-prisoner-1960s-series/ and, like a chump, I bought the box set last year..... G
  15. My Locost is 4-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the frame on street tires. 3" to the bottom of the oil pan. I can clear all the speed bumps I encounter (so far) as long as I creep over them - if I go fast enough for the chassis to droop coming off the speed bump, the pan gets hit. I have bottomed the chassis coming up steep driveway onto the street. With 20" slicks, it's a touch shorter: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/skinnyg/locost2007091.jpg
  16. The Sylva Striker has a pretty steep angle... http://farm1.static.flickr.com/107/292198876_c7b886deec.jpg?v=0
  17. I haven't had a ticket in all the years I stopped speeding.
  18. I teach highschool shop. Stupidity at that age can run pretty deep. Thankfully most people grow out of it. Or are killed.
  19. You also want the engine to reach optimum temperature quickly for fuel economy, emissions and longevity reasons. Engine wear can be considerable when it is cold and clearances are not perfect, plus a warm engine helps to vapourize the fuel better. Raw fuel will wash oil off the cylinder walls which isn't really what you want. G
  20. Dumped two loads today.
  21. Write to the president of the company. Skip the local schmoecals.
  22. How does the pricing of the Leitch compare? http://home.earthlink.net/~earleymotorsports/id8.html
  23. Build it the way ~you~ want it. Others' opinions be damned.
  24. Our lot is(was) pretty small too.... G
  25. I stopped speeding and have never had a problem since. Go figure.
