  1. Are Jon and Tom having a few too many beers right now? Cause I want to see some pix and vids!:jester: (I spoke with Mazda and he told me the basics....Norm B. rules!)

JOP- DO you have the Cat 6 speed box? Regardless, does putting the clutch (even if you're in neutral...no load) in kill the rattle? I say all this, because I have the 6 with a lightweight flywheel and my box rattles a lot when you have the clutch out and are in neutral. So much so that my very experienced mechanic (though not necessarily with Se7ens...he only services one other) didn't want me to drive it at the Dragon. But a quick search on BlatChat (the UK club site) revealed that TADT="they all do that". Especially apparently if you have a lightweight flywheel. Scott L. had a similar rattle and I think they wanted to take apart his gearbox. When I was down at the Dragon, I left my car idling and some of the guys asked me "What the hell is wrong with your car?" Seth of BAM (Canada), asked about the flywheel, and when I told him I have a lightweight one, he said..."Yeah, that's typical." That said, check your gearbox fluid too. Oh, and welcome aboard. I certainly hope this thread's not your last.
  3. Thanks for the updates and pix....for a "motley" crew, we do pretty well.
  4. Saw this at the LOONY site: http://lotusowners.com/ForSale/97%20Caterham%20For%20Sale/index.htm
  5. President Rohaley? Hmm...I may nominate you at the 2009 election....
  6. Yes, but is he wearing the "wing hat" in the pits?
  7. I think you have a few folks up your way Mike R., Mike M....maybe Frank F. will want to sell his crossflow when he gets done building the CSR? Or is his wife taking that car when he's done?
  8. Thanks for the updates guys...try and post pix and vids when you can. Reading this and seeing the little green seven sticker on Jon W.'s car in Martin's post on his visit makes me all nostalgic. The US Se7ens (inclduing USA7s) community seems like it's really getting some good traction/momentum. Best of luck to all RnG participants.
  9. We've got a bazillion new forum members. Please introduce yourself here...and your car in the "members rides" section.
  10. Box- Call me when you have a wife and kids. -Al
  11. I doubt I'll be able to make it down for this one, guys. Just too many Fall projects to do. Will definitely try to make the Warminster one at the end of hte month. Sorry....:nonod:
  12. Does this belong in Tech?
  13. I was up in the Lake George area this past weekend and think it could be a nice spot for a NE regional. North of Bolton Landing (a little ways away from the main tourist area, which IMHO is just like any other touristy area) there is at least one great Se7ening road. Any thoughts on this vs. Lime Rock Vintage? I like the Watkins idea, but fear that it's too much inland to attract many folks from MA or CT. --- I'm considering the proposed VIR meet a "Mid-Atlantic" event, so the NE should have its own event for next year.
  14. Jim, while we all have our biases, of course (high-strung 4 bangers unite!)...the forum and club are marque-inclusive. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a great destination for new folks open to the many car type options as well as a very fun group of people.
  15. Whatevs Jonny. Your Jalopnik pieces were amazing (the photography too) and got the party started. Just because it wasn't ink on paper doesn't lessen the achievement. BTW, you are in for the 2009 national, right?
  16. At least he was cute...in that unkempt 20-something West Coast way....:jester:
  17. Who are you calling high strung? I prefer "indefatigable" :jester:
  18. Jim-If you're looking for encouragement, you've come to the right place. Keep in mind that you have have your V8 and eat it too...Mazda has an LS1 drivetrain in his Rotus. A bunch of the guys have also built their own, either from a kit, plans, or from scratch. I went the easy route and bought one already built...but have "improved" it in the 2 years I've had it. Welcome and I hope some of the other guys chime in.-Al P.S. If you could swing it, hop on a plane to St. Louis today and watch Run 'N Gun...which is pretty much a Cobras vs. Sevens shootout, from I know about it.
  19. As long as he's not coming over all the time to ask you questions about the little eccentricities of our cars... Should I give your swag to him?
  20. Roman...I would think about getting at least a Spa center on a stalk.... Pegasus has them.
  21. Of course they loved it! It's handled as a sidebar article to the main 7-7-7 piece.
  22. For the past week, I've been stoping by my local magazine stands to see if the Nov. Automobile had come out. It came out today. I'm still in the middle of reading, but thought I'd update. Mazda, if any of the auto-xers in the Maryland region read it before the Ripken event, they'll be gunning for you.... :hurray:
  23. I've got to check with the home calendar. If I don't make this one, I'll will proably do the one at the end of the month in Warminster.
  24. This car was at Lime Rock on Sunday. Very very nicely turned out. A good deal for the next owner, IMHO.
  25. No worries Don. Having seen the selects for the Automobile shoot, my car is barely in any of those shots either. Guess that's the price you pay for working the registration desk for a lot of the weekend.
