  1. Oh, the fenders have seen quite a bit of water in their 4000 miles... Most notably, here and here.
  2. Jon-you are certainly doing a great job of convincing me to auto-x more. Not. My fenders aren't coming anywhere near cones now!-Al:d

  4. Honestly? I would ebay the new purchases and get some 13-inchers...it does sound like you may have to make too many fixes to be worth it. My 2¢.
  5. The photos are courtesy of killboy.com. Creative Direction by Steve Taylor, execution and retouching by Mint Advertising. Sorry for the delay, folks! "Framed" files are about 10 Meg, and look good even at 300% view. Note that the artifacts you think might be there at first are actually not there in the zoomed view or printed doc. The raw files are 100% unretouched, so you can see the volleyball net in the background and everything...
  6. I generally don't read car mags besides Evo (and now, Hemmings Sports & Exotics and Automobile, of course!), but I went leafing through R&T today and our very own Don Freeman has a little write-up of our event and club, complete with a group shot (though extremely cropped!). If memory serves me correctly, they managed to get get about 12 cars in the cropped image...not mine, of course :jester: I saw a few cars I recognized...Scott L., Steve T., Graeme G...
  7. I can ga-run-tee that it don't work on Mac/Safari/Firefox/Camino. Bummer...
  8. I wouldn't care about 60 in a 55, though I would still advise against showing any speedo in any vid that isn't a trackday or hillclimb....because how is the viewer to know the limit for the stretch of road you are driving. Regarding the CCC or USA7s.org thing...although primarily organized and attended by the CCC folks, Gert connected with USA7s to help with umbrella insurance and some admin. There was even a short-lived discussion to merge the two clubs a while back. As I've said, I'm over it...so feel free to caption anyway you want. I don't think you're coming off as defensive at all. I hope that I didn't come off as too accusatory. I sent you a PM to explain some back story that makes me particularly keyed into this sort of thing. Alls well that ends well. Hope to meet you at the next national (2009?), where I can guarantee there will be NO extra-legal speeds. In Germany.:jester:
  9. I think Mazda's car can do that in 6th.... Yes, I did think your speedo was in mph....hence my reaction and subsequent posting here. It's not that I found anything about the video "offensive", and you are free to do whatever you want on You Tube, of course. The only part that I had some issue with was showing the speedo and the speed shown (yes, I know now it was in kph) and yes, as one of the officers of USA7s.org, I felt some slight that you captioned it "CCC". I'm over it. Again, regardless of the actual speeds you were traveling and whether they were legal or not, my point is that we should all be careful about writing about or showing videos that indicate extra-legal driving.
  10. The new SOP for starting my car cold: 1. Turn key so "accessories/ancillaries" are activated (including fuel pump). 2. Repeat 3 times. 3. Give throttle one squeeze, then release. 4. Turn key all the way to engage starter motor with light throttle pressure. This has pretty much been my fix for the cold start problem since I came back from the Dragon. Works 80% of the time. The other 20% require just a little more coaxing. Still have not remapped ECU. Will wait until I do the head work.
  11. Even if it is in KM, I still think it's a good thing to police ourselves for (here or on YouTube)...believe me, I've edited a few of my past posts to protect the guilty...including myself. And of course, my camera is mounted with a view of the road, not the speedo.
  12. I was searching around YouTube today and found a clip of footage from the "CCC PNW 2007" Tour (thanks for your support there, video poster who shall go unnamed ) And I think the Club and forum (you can join the forum without joining the club, of course, but what fun is that?) needs to have a guideline or formal policy on videos and posts that show or mention extra-legal speeds — whether or not the driving happens in Germany or not. In this particular video, it's fairly easy to see on the speedo that the driver is more than doubling the double nickel on a public road. And by posting the video, he is exposing himself (and the Tour organizer/s...which I guess are the CCC :jester:) to jonny law. There is precedent for legal action being taken based on a YouTube vid. So, until there is a formal policy issued, I think we should all police ourselves for vids and posts that contain mention of extra-legal speeds or conduct. It's just smart foruming and CYAing... [/Al gets off soapbox]
  13. Jon-there is certainly more Jill Judd gear on your car than the last time I saw it...do tell....
  14. Well, there's 77, 777, 17, 27, etc.
  15. Wow...weather looked beautiful...thanks for the update and pix! (Hmm, does that box you're holding in the first shot have a NJ return address, Brent? ) And thanks to Brent for taking the initiative to put together a regional event. I tell you, I would have enjoyed my drive today a lot more if just one or two more Se7ens had been around...
  16. I was out solo today...had a great drive (weather was great and roads not too crowded). I ran into a convoy of fun cars that included a Bugeye and a pretty Iso Grifo, but when I got on it a little they didn't feel like playing, I guess. What I realized as I putt-putted along waiting for them is that, gosh darnit, I like to drive the car a little quickly in the twisties. For me, it's not worth going out for a drive if you aren't going to give it some throttle at least once or twice. It's what the cars are made for, wind buffeting be damned.
  17. Box, I sent Martin some Club Swag just last week...a big thanks to him, Drew, Bob S, and Lance M. for supporting the club and forum even though they didn't go to either of our inaugural "big events". I'll be out of town Columbus Day weekend, but might be free the following weekend. Maybe I trailer down to Maryland...think VA/MD posse would be there?
  18. A friend who must have been there with Steve in Germany told me that he is comfortable up to about 80 mph in his Caterham without a top and wearing only goggles. He can hit 100 for short bursts but sustained runs are not very comfortable. He's gone like 110 a few times and reports that the wind buffeting at that pace is quite bad.
  19. Jeff- Sorry I couldn't make it to have lunch with you on your way through NJ...I was tied up with our chili-cookoff fundraiser for the local education foundation. I was on my feet from 9 to 9 yesterday. Glad the trailer worked out. Sorry it took so long. Hope to see you and the Ultralite sometime soon. -Al
  20. I'm going to try and make Oct 28th...maybe some of the MD/VA posse will come up. D-Mod runs in the AM group...hopefullly the weather will not be so rainy this time.
  21. Bump to make changes to plan more visible. Note that I am going to change the meet time to 11:00 AM. No slots, just blatting.
  22. I'm sure this has been noted before, but the RA-1 and the Nitto NT-01 are basically the same tire...same parent company.
  23. I also use sorted to mean "all the bugs worked out". As in...every Se7en that I've ever met required some level of sorting out...mine was mostly with the cooling hoses.
  24. Tom-He mentions that they are 3 piece panasports in the top post....apparently Seth of BAM can get a relatively good deal on them.
