  4. If it is that ugly at least it should be fast, why isn't the supercharged engine in it from the 620?
  5. My October issue of Road & Track came in the mail today and was sorry to read that Peter Eagan announced he will no longer be writing his monthly column for the magazine or for Cycle World. He will still do occasional feature articles for both magazines. I have been reading his R&T articles for 30 years and they were the main reason I kept my subscription current for the last couple of years. I was hooked ever since he wrote in 1983 about driving a '49 MGTC to Road Atlanta. Mike
  6. I didn't want to drill into the roll bar either so I ran the wires through heat shrink and zip tied them to the bar. I mounted the light using velcro and it held great. I tapped into the brake wiring going to the right light for power and grounded at the panel that covers the fuel neck in the boot. I also added a flasher unit that gave 3 quick flashes before going solid. Mike
  7. From SVC Components in the UK. http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/5-3-4--free-standing-steel I have seen them on a forum member's Caterham and they are nice. I put motorcycle headlights on my Caterham, I can dig up the info on them if you are interested. Mike

  10. Caterham just announced its new entry level 7 using a Suzuki turbo engine. It will have a 5 speed transmission and a live axle all provided by Suzuki. All the press I read was from outside the U.S. and doubt it was designed with the USA in mind. I was at Caterham USA in May and they were building a new car and I think the engine is from the Ford Fiesta with the idea of being a more affordable car. 15. Martin; here is a link to the Lotus Seven Club in the UK that decodes the Caterham VIN, maybe some documentation like this could help. Good luck. http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp?ChassisNumbers Mike
  16. I came across this car from Factory 5 in the latest issue of Road & Track . It is a Subaru based mid engine design, 0-60 in 3.8 and 1.12G for the track special and the street version should be potent and looks good to me. $15k for the street and $25k for the track. Seems like a lot of car for the $. The magazine article is much better than what R&T has online but here is the link and one for factory 5 http://www.roadandtrack.com/first-drive-factory-five-racing-818-r-track-day https://www.factoryfive.com/kits/project-818/ What kind of reputation does the company have? Mike
  17. No experience with it but Soft Bits for 7s makes a rollbar wind deflector. http://www.softbitsshop.co.uk/the-draft-reducer-10-c.asp I have a wind deflector in my Miata that does help, it is a solid piece but similar idea to what Soft Bits is doing. Mike

  20. My Zetec powered Caterham has the ECU located in the passenger footwell directly under the battery tray. If yours is the same set up I would look at ECU and its connector that is in the engine bay.Having the battery above the ECU was the primary reason I went with a Oddessy AGM battery. The rivets that hold the battery tray would also let acid get into the frame in the engine compartment too so a peek in that area wouldn't hurt. Mike
  21. Thanks guys! Mike
  22. I am looking to change the fuel filter on my Caterham and hope to find the part locally. Has anyone done this and have a part number that works? Mike
