While working for the Fire Department, I was put in charge of making plans for an avian flu pandemic affecting the city... now that's some bad stuff! Yeah, that pic's just a joke in regards to all the hype

Good luck, look forward to seeing it

So was that done on a dyno (no wind resistance)? Are a few cars really that fast (85mph in 1 second & 125mph in 3)... seems impossible? I got to tell you, Kevin's supercharged S2K is the quickest thing I've ever been in... with the traction of slicks I thought his front wheels were going to come up;)

Agreed on the use of a little levity... A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose.. A pretty, young, student nurse appears to give him a partial sponge bath. "Nurse", he mumbles, from behind the mask. "Are my testicles black?" Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet." He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check. Are my testicles black?" Concerned that he may elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worry about his testicles, she over comes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles in the other. Then, she takes a close look and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir!" The man pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her and says very slowly: "Thank you very much. That was wonderful, but, listen very, very closely...... "A r e - m y - t e s t - r e s u l t s - b a c k ??"

There are many valid points in that article. I guess it comes down to expectations of our society. We don't want to be a nanny state but we want some security. Seems, with this election, that most people felt government was taking advantage of the average Schmo to the benefit of big business. Right or wrong, the pendulum has swung to the left. Perhaps we can learn from the mistakes being made in Europe/Canada as we're the last to be addressing some of these issues. I hope people will soon see the political correctness of Global Warming and start getting objective facts instead of the hyperbol (the Galaxy doesn't revolve around us anymore than man creating an environmental apocolypse in the last 50 years - read Red Hot Lies). Lets put our efforts toward clean energy and self suffiency (all options) so we aren't dependent on the middle east. That alone is good enough reason for me. As far as healthcare, the latest from Obama is "affordable healthcare" not free universal care. Granted, it could be the first step down that road. I still think some type of open pension plan that is based on investment, not taxes, is the way to go... just have to keep the politicians hands out of the till (they tried to take ("borrow") some of California state workers pension money a couple of times and luckily failed - they said it was overfunded). I just fear we're heading for tough times due to the switch from managed pensions to individual 401ks.

If middle class workers here are going to have to compete with 3rd world countries for pay/benefits than we're all screwed.... who's going to be able to afford anything? It's a downward spiral. We all can't be stockbrockers/financiers or executives. People in America who work with their back/hands need to be able to have a decent living. We can't taxcut our way out of a service based economy. It's a complicated problem and those complaining the loudest seem to have simplistic answers or none at all. What do we need to do to have a decent middle class whom can own a home, a car, pay college for their kids and retire at some point with enough money for 2 people to enjoy life a little? Personnaly, I think most individuals aren't smart enough or have the time to invest properly with 401Ks. Plus, when you can take money out to buy a home etc... it leads to problems. Someone should come up with a transferable pension system that large and small businesses can join (but not be responsible for). I recently saw something about a national retirement program proposal that would have employer/employee (it's all comes out of the same bucket really) contribute into. It would guarantee 3% over inflation per year (don't know how that would work). Social Security is a safety net and if you end up having to live off of that I feel sorry for you. Anyway, I think Wall Street has a lot more explaining to do than the UAW. Sorry if I sound like one of those commie, pinko, socialist... I'm really not. We'll always have lazy people and greedy ones, but the U.S. needs a strong middle class and not turn into (or should I say not go back to) a country of the few haves and the many have nots. No hard feelings to anyone who feels different... we on this board won't solve this. But we're lucky enough to have a car that allows us to go for a quick blat and forget all our troubles;)

I've never used this but the one time I could of was at the track when 10 other bikes were around me and they had louder exhausts;)

You didn't list it but I assume you got the whole pedal assembly too, or at least gas pedal set up? Think you'd be fine then.

WCM S2K Ultralite Wheel and Tire Recommendations?
Mondo replied to powerbookguy's topic in Wheels and Tires
I have the same rear tires but with 9 inch rims (and they fit nice on the rim)... By me eyeballing the tire with tape measure, it's about 10 to 10.25 inches total sidewall to sidewall width (not tread width); . The fender is 12 inches wide and there looks to be over an inch of room on the inside. You'd need an inch (25 millimeters) of additional backspace to keep the rim flush with the outside fender lip... as mine is in the pics. With all that being said, due to the cost of rims and any tire movement due to suspension travel, I'd figure out a way to make sure before purchasing... though it would likely be ok, I'd hate to steer you wrong. I've seen wider rims (slicks) on S2Ks but it's been 15inch diameter and they've stuck out. I know Kevin has ran 17inch slicks but don't know how wide the rims were. Just remember it'll really be for looks as our cars don't need that much rubber unless supercharged... good luck! -
ULTRA 7 - 2008 WCM Ultralite S2K for sale in Seattle
Mondo replied to banjo29's topic in Cars For Sale
I've spoken with Chad on several occasions and 2nd Powderbrake's comments. I can't imagine a S2K with more attention to detail and better sorted (wish I could of had you make 2 sets of the interior bits like the panels and center console while you were at it;)) Sorry it wasn't what you expected Chad, it will definately make someone happy! -
Do you have to put front fenders on for autox/track? Guess it might throw up some loose gravel with sticky tires;) Boy, my wife would love to have the exhaust go down the middle of the car. Glad to see you got it all sorted and now are doing the fun stuff!

Had family over.... 2 out of 3 loved it. My 12yr old son, who's doesn't miss an opportunity, my 24yr old neice who used to race go karts loved it but it was a little too hard core for her mom;) Others didn't want to try and squeeze in.

That's pretty cool.... just wish I knew what half that stuff meant;) I'd like to have a set up that gave me tach & speedometer and then switched to a gauge screen measuring something that went out of the parameters (and maybe a little flasher in the corner to get my attention). That way I'd only need to see what's important when it's important; kind of like the old idiot lights but with pertinent information.... guess that would include fuel below a quarter tank too.

I know your not in the market for a new Lotus but I went to the LA Car Show and Lotus is coming out with the Evora. I think it's a slightly larger and more civilized to address the issues you guys have been bringing up. http://www.likecool.com/2009_Lotus_Evora--SportsCars--Car.html http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/2009/top-2009-Lotus-Evora.htm

I've found that with a black car all you need is a black sharpie (98cents)
