  1. I went thru 3 powersteering boxes for my 67 truck. First leaked and way too much slack before anythng happened, 2nd was a quick-ratio box which was great around town but over 65mph was too twitchy, finally bought a 76 box from redhead (same bolt pattern/design etc..) and it was a variable ratio; the more you turn the quicker the ratio. 3rd time was the charm.

  4. People are so creative nowadays... I never would of guessed that much bodywork was done, very tastefully done.

Yeah, never fun watching someone run away with it. I liked when the TV guys would overlay the cars on the road (from helicopter view) and you could see where one car was faster than the other, pretty neat how they did that. Also remember them driving in fog once and relying on their co-driver's notes, it was the closest thing to driving by Braile;)

I felt the biggest thing that kept me out of the expert class in motocross was I couldn't recover from getting out of shape and back on the gas like the them. Those fractions of time add up. You can tell the pros just by listening to the throttle. Don't know anything about Loeb or other drivers but would love to go for a ride... it amazes me how they master the slide around corners, doesn't seem to matter whether its tarmac or dirt.

  9. Sent you an email before I noticed the dimensions... if you see this first, disregard. thanks
  10. Got invited to a free trackday today. A friend of a friend rented Buttonwillow Raceway for the day. Maybe 15 - 20 cars... vipers, those Chrysler hemi cars and a variety of others. This was perfect for my first time out... never more than 3 or 4 cars on the track. One time I was out there by myself for about 3 laps! Got to gradually increase my speeds. Did have one problem though... it seems I would lose fuel pick up on the longest sweeper. For the day, I just kept the fuel tank full (on site gas station). Now I'm more crazy about my car than ever before.... fullfilled my fantasy of driving to the racetrack, having a blast, and driving home (only about 30 minutes away). Plus it was all Free! Tried to give the guy some drinking money as he was going out tonight but he refused (guess if you can afford renting the whole track....). Everyone was having a great time. Plus, the weather was overcast with slight sprinkles a couple times, track never got very wet.. in the 70s/ I don't see how it could of been any better!
  11. My friend tows his boat behind his trailer.... but in California you need a special license to do this and there's a maximum total length.

  17. My basic/stock S2k would be 6lbs per horsepower (at the crank)... 1450lbs/240hp 2009 basic corvette is 7.5lbs per HP by their "spec".... 3217lbs/430hp of course it has doors & cup holders & air....
  18. saw that... looks like it's a "point and pull the trigger type car". Thought it would be better in the corners... maybe just the driver.
  19. I like it! Guess the key is to have the rear wheels on the ramp as the front wheels cross over the axle... Was thinking of something similar but with a wind deflector (maybe tool case inside it)... just tall enough to keep the bugs, debris off.
  20. need an all wheel drive 7 to handle all that!
  21. Thats what I'm talking about!!!! The spectators aren't wussies either;)
  22. Our town is probably one of the dustiest in the country and swore I would never own a black car as well.... I figured the 7 was small enough, and covered in the garage, that I could keep it clean. A shiny black car is hard to beat for looks though. Plus. all you need is a black sharpie to cover small chips;) I had a metallic root beer brown car in the late 70s, it was bitchin man. Any dark color is going to be a pain to take care of.
  23. wife ran over a skunk last year... chunks of hair up under the car. Took it to the spray wash twice and just sufferred for a couple weeks until the smell went away;(
