I have seen steel cables with eyelets used on some other type cars to secure the belts to a structure. The crotch belt is wise also. Gary

Go for it, I had over 20 of those over the years. They kept improving them each year. The only problem, the fun starts @ 130. With the 7, the terror starts @ 100. Gary

Put me in for one. It could further help with my 67 Lotus / Birkin with lifetime plates. I don't think I'll be here in 2050 to renew them.

I just pulled the plug and will be having Tom @ Focus Power do the top end for me. Presently have TB's and adj. cam gears on a stock engine. It is run by an Emerald system. The plan is to change the oil pump, P & P the head, larger valves, add stage 3 cams.

This looks like a deal for enclosed trailer: http://columbus.craigslist.org/for/479924704.html I still want a light open trailer though. Gary

The Garmin 196 did another great job on the trip from Fl. to Oh. I had to make a stop in W.V. and pick up a tool box for a friend. W/O the GPS I would have had a problem finding the pick up place. Now at home trying to learn the new Garmin Nuvi 650.

I had to move the Birkin to the hanger, about 100' away in the snow today. I just found the reason for Firestone, Firehawk tires. It moved through 4' of snow under it's own power! I have had a few cars if you had them on snow and leaned on them, I think they would have slid out from under you.

Still driving in the Fl. area and the Garmin 196 has been great. Still have the wife that sleeps as soon as I start to drive. Gary

Andrew7 I have the Delorme on my laptop. About 5 years ago I used it im my Motor Home as the screen was big enough to see 3' away. I listed the type of roads I wanted to use and didn't have any isues with it. I had a 47, 000 pound unit pulling a 2 wheel trailer with an M roadster on it. Weight, length & height was an issue to me. In the set-up section I was able to list the defults I wanted and could list the avg. speeds to get an idea of the length of the drive. It would update ETA as you drove and corrected for present speed. I was also running a 196 Garmin aviation GPS in the road mode, it would up date ETA as well. All worked great for me. I have had issues a few times with the Garmin doing what you said as well as with my wife's 08 Civic and factory GPS. It helps to know where you are going, so you don't make those kind of turns but in a city it can be a problem. I'm presently out of state with the Garmin 196 and wouldn't be W/O a GPS. It is great to let you know when the next turn is coming at you when the PX is asleep. It will also tell how many miles to and time to the next road change. The value of a GPS? With out it I would loose over 50% of what little I have and would have needed to take the time to retrain a younger trophy wife that could read a map while riding. I'm not sure I have that much time left or the money to buy one of those.

I just looked at Trailerex as they are close to me in Ohio. The price is much higher than I want to spend. A 12' Aluma trailer is about $900 less than what they are offering. I can do an Aluma Trailer with aluminum floor $2460. The local dealer here http://www.mrtrailersales.com/CONTACT.htm will change over to a double fold ramp for me on an ALUMA. These people had the best prices http://www.johnstrailers.com/ in N. E. Indiana he has them with wood floor, around $1560. I need to stay light as I just purchased a little F150 Ford to pull it with. It is a 2003 with 6 cyl. Off to Fl. in the AM to pick it up. Here I thought I was saving money buying a 4 Cyl. car. Now I just need more HP & tires. Ihis is bad as A/C & boats.

Sean, You are correct Costco. I did your link and ordered it. $299 + $15 non member add,, $9.05 S&H, $19.44 sales tax. Total $343.48 Still a better deal than all I found. They had ended the sale on 11-16-07 it now is through 12-10-07 while they have them. I had given up on them, thanks. Gary

All, thanks for the input, now I’m confused. Should I get water proof, price driven, compact, and more? I have a local friend that has a Tom-Tom unit I can try. I have had several aviation Garmin units that have been problem free. Likely for this weeks traveling I’ll just use my Garmin 196 aviation unit in the land mode. The COSCO deal is off the table for now. For a change I’ll wait and look for a deal. As it will be used for a couple vehicles I don’t GPS in. I’ll look for one with many features except Blue Tooth as I don’t see a need for that, or should I? Gary

As I was talking to a Garmin tec. rep. on an aviation related gps problem, he told me Cosco had a sale on the Garmin 650 @ $295. That was much les than his emp. cost. We don't have any Cosco's around here and online they are sold out on line. Their aviation units are very user friendly.

What is the best deal on a portable GPS? I have been using my A/C GPS for a few years and would like to do an land unit. I don't need blue tooth. Garmin Nuvi 650? Gary

Here in Ohio, I was out Friday & Sunday. It was cool, but light traffic to deal with. As there was no rain the top was off. It is raining this AM so I'll add a touch more toe in. Tomorrow it will be dry and will be driving again.

b19bt I also had many Porsches, and more than my share of exotic cars. For many years I had the wants for a seven type car, but never made the time to dig into them. The only good American powered powered cars I had was a AC Cobra & a Griffith. About 4 months ago I picked up a Birkin, and have enjoyed it. The little 2.0 Zetec pulls well at all RPM. Not wildly quick, but very nice. As I had read about, it is loads of fun below 100MPH. Untill I got mine I didn't understand how it could be fun at low speeds. It is a riot! You can push it and toss it around and still be at below go to jail speeds. With most of the others fast started at 150 MPH. I would think any type of 7 will deliver the same fun. Enjoy

I think Mazda is gathering toys for another career. Movies where no screen writers are needed?

I have a set of aluminum racing seats sitting in my hanger you are welcome to try. They have a light cover on them. I got them with my Birkin.

I like the graphics on Xromad's enclosed, and had a speed loader before. I love the weight and looks of Bernie’s trailer. I have looked at them before. My goal is to stay light, like the car.

You should practice taking a deep breath as that black rod trys to find the otherside of the car if you get T boned. I have seen some photos of a WCM with a few bars running front to back for protection, that will work much better. I don't think any of these cars will make it to the top 10 of crash worthy cars though.

It was not quite 70' yesterday and today, but was out yesterday and will be out today some.

Xnomad, I would like to stay away from enclosed as I doubt if I would use it more than a few times a year. I had a F350 dully deisel and a 28' enclosed when I had classic cars. The truck and trailer took too much room in the hanger. With the open I could find other uses for it. After 15 years I need to redo and finish some landscaping. The low trailer would take up less space in my hanger also. The Alum-line has a tilt option. I just purchased a little 03 f150 in Fl. to pull it with. I can look around while down there for a trailer also. As I'm not a truck person either, I would think the trailer and truck will be sold by the end of next year. As things change who knows, I could start an Ohio Sanford & Son operation.

I had thought of the snowmobile trailers that are covered as well. The tire size is too small on the road for my liking. I would like to have a open trailer. If the trailer is lite and the Birkin is also, there isn't much I couldn't pull it with. I have been trying to down size on my toys. The more you have, the more you to mess with. I built a air dam for the front of the open trailer I had for the M roadster and was fine with it. Prior to that I had a 28' enclosed and it was hard to find a place to store it while on the road.

Anyone here with a www.alumline.com trailer? I have been looking for a light Wt. trailer to use with my Birkin. They have a 2 wheel tilt axle 12' Long that looks to be the ticket. Any others I should look at? Anyone interested in trying a group buy? I did a two wheel trailer behind my motor home and it worked great. I towed a BMW, M roadster with a S/C setup. It was a heavy trailer and I sold it with the BMW and MH to the same person. The MH had 500 HP and didn't feel it back there. Once unloaded it was easy to move the trailer by hand. The MH @ 43' and wider than the trailer and long W.B. was not something I could back up. If someone has one I would like some feed back on it.
