  1. Frank & all thanks for the help. I did see it a few days ago. It is very clean, but a little shorter than I remember Jerry’s yellow S2K. Dick & I are the same height, but I could be a little longer in the legs. He is very nice & we have had some of the same cars in the past. I have the Birkin to where it now just fits & the HP near the Honda’s. The question now is do I need two and start on the fit and a few personal issues again. Now in Colorado & will think more on this when I get back to Ohio. Gary
  2. Chuck thanks for the correction, oh how I miss MS Office spell check while on the road. The thing I miss most about not working is my administrative assistant. Jerry & sue were indeed super hosts. A great time was had by all. Gary
  3. Jerry & Chuck, thanks for the feedback on the 615’s. Loren had told me about them prior to St Louis last year. On my Birkin, I have the problem of 15” tire size. I think I can only get to 205/50 X15”. I would like to do at least 225’s, now that I have a little more rear wheel HP. It could be the person’s bad review of the 615’s had too much PSI. Jerry I remember well the handling on the RT-615’s, I will never forget the fantastic handling on the back side off the track. It was an eye opener! We also enjoyed the great hostility after. That was another great weekend with -7 people. Gary
  4. Frank, I'm in Scottsdale for a few more days. I'm unable to answer his ad with my laptop as COX and my home server will not talk. If you can get a phone # I would like to take a look. My email address is: gjslutz1(at)roadrunner.com Thanks Gary
  5. Hi Loren, I had read somewhere where a Falken RT615 user complained of no feel to them. He said they felt much like an early 911, from stick to gone. I do know that lack of feel. How did they feel to you? Also PSI F & R? I think the Yokohama A048's are a little on the high side $$ for me. At this point it will be the 615's, RA1's or R888's. As they will ship to Ohio, I need to hold off on ordering any yet. When will you have wheels again?
  6. From the above it looks like I should keep the 710's for track and look for just good street tires. If I get a season of driving on a tire that sticks, that will be fine for me. Unless the track was near I would likely use the street tires, as road driving is the main function for me.
  7. Hi Robert, I think you missed them. A friend wants them for his daughter's car. The Firehawk grip was only slightly better than steel. I'm still in AZ. avoiding the cold and bill colectors. I won't be able to order any tires till next month when I get home. Al, where do you get the r500's? Choices, this is better than being single and looking for girls at my age.
  8. Thanks all, This is great info for us. Not many can take the time or money to do a quantified benchmark comparison of all the new tire development. The results at Tire Rack, I believe is derived from the manufacturer. I doubt if any of it is from cars as light as ours either. I have not found any info other than on this site for soft street / track tires. I like many others look for a tire to stick great on the street with a little track in the mix. I know no street tire will be a match for a good track tire. Please keep the info coming; reading is much less expensive than buying. Gary
  9. What is the hot 15" tire choice for road & track this year? I'm looking for good a dry set-up, that will also work to get the care home in the rain. My Kumho V710's stick well, but aree not a good street tire. The Firestone Firehawk tires are just good enough to roll the car around on. Toyo RA1? Toyo R888? Falkin RT615? Others? Gary
  10. Weather returns? After a little extra toe-in yesterday @ 22' F I did a little drive. There was just enough dust on the dry road that on the cam in 4th things would get interesting. The heater and roof works, so did a good wash job after the drive.
  11. Robert, as you know, I'm in the area and mine was set up for the track. I can turn the heat on for Mary also. You have 6 days to see it. Gary
  12. Robert & Mary Great looking 7! If I may ask, any issues with E checks in the Akron area? I had cocooned mine for the trip to N.C. and back. It now needs cleaned real bad also. What polish are you using? I have never found anything that would last on A/C. If I'm unable to find a good product, it will soon be paint time. #AB1036
  13. Locost 7018 If none take it. I could pay for it and pick it up In early March as I will be driving through in a car. As it is my wifes car it would need to be clean and wraped up as not to damage the leather. Just let me know, I can do PAYPAL. Gary
  14. My first 12 cylinder was an 1971 XJ12 Jag. I thought about adding stop leak to the vacuum system due to all the leaks. All of the hoses would crack from the heat. When I picked up an 1974 XKE 12 I found out the problem was still there. Both cars were problems from the first week on. I had a couple Italian 12's during the same time, with no problems, they just ran. Even my Lotus Elan was better than the Jaguars. Thankfully I missed the Fiat's.
  15. I no longer have a need, but this looks like a great deal. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/car/530077112.html Gary

    Fluids

The mineral oil has been Std. with breaking in an aircraft engine. I had done that for years. I ran mineral for 75 to 100 hours. The thinking now is to go to the oil you will use from the start. I'm still unsure of that yet. There is 4,000 miles on the Zetec so ring / cylinder break-in is not a issue. All of my work will be in the head as well as an up grade to the oil pump. I like Mobil One but was unsure of the results in the Zetec. There had been some bearing failures blamed on it in aircraft. Mobil had purchased some engines from that several years ago. I will go with Mobil One as that is what most of my cars came with it for several years now. Anyone have a oil filter number handy? I need to get a few. Thanks Gary

What fluids have folks been using, oil, antifreeze, gears, brake? I have done a search on the site and didn't find anything at all. I had to do something wrong with the ssearch. :willy:
  19. My Birkin deal was much more difficult. I called and we agreed on the price, that day we flew up and I paid for the car. My friend then flew the extra set of tires & wheels, and parts back for me. When I got home that night (I drove) the parts were in the hanger & the car was also. My trip was only 400 miles though. It was a pleasant deal from start to finish, I even enjoyed the drive home. Almost all of my deals are like that. It is great when both part smiling over a fair deal. If you get the car, you are welcome to borrow my side curtains & top to drive it home. You could need a drill & male snaps to fit it on the car. I agree if you wrote the check to the broker, that is who you go after first. He will need to then try to recoup his own expense then. I doubt if he was in this for the fun of it. Gary
  20. Mondo I don't expect servers where I eat, or places where I purchase things to kiss my hand. I sure don't expect to kiss a** of people who live off my tax $$, or that I pay $$ to. I treat them with the same warm Midwest way I would anyone I met. If I get attitude from them, I normally start up the chain till I get the attention of someone who can fix that problem. I also am one of the ones who takes the time to let people know they have an outstanding person working for them. In the process of doing this for years I have met some great people and a few bad ones also. The exceptional people as well as the bad ones deserve to have these comments in their file. It is one of the small ways we can make change. Gary

    retired today

Congratulations, enjoy the life of unemployment as some of the rest of us have done. Jerry hit it on, you now can avoid the rudh hour. Gary
  22. They are an incredible piece of aviation history. I knew a lady that used theirs for their honeymoon when they were fairly new at that time. We were on a board of a aviation group together. They were the owners of a large bearing company here in Canton , Ohio. I think she was one of the first women to have a type rating in a Lear Jet (hers). They were also used as a school bus to fly kids to school from the islands in Lake Erie for years in the 1960's, and I think into the 1970's. I also had the chance to fly a Trimotor from the right seat once.
  23. Loren, I was in the area and didn't even know of this show. Gary
  24. Robert, some times you just have to pay for what is unfair. You could likely just add a Zetec for less than $1500. I just purchased a truck in Fl. a few weeks ago to tow my -7 and it sure wasn't as listed. As I had prepaid also, it was my truck. Now over $2k later it is close to fitting my needs. I also just picked up an aluminum trailer to haul it with. I had not planed on any of this support equipment at the purchase of the car. I could loan you the trailer and gun, you and mary could go pick it up. I would need the trailer back by the 1 week in Jan. to take my car south. My wife just bought me a new head-job---------------and cams for X-mas. I'll tell her next year!
  25. Al, Now have been starting up mine in the low to mid 30's. At times if I don't touch the gas Pedal it will start & die the first time. At times it will also do a lean pop (backfire) on starting. It idles smooth after 15 seconds after starting. Gary
