Mike Solan Wins!...Hurrah!... Carnage Ending Though!
slngsht replied to BusaLoco's topic in Seven Videos
knowing how much work it is to rebuild a car, that makes me sick. -
Since you are coming from a 600+ hp vette, you will not find any of the above choices satisfactory in terms of performance out of the box. Obviously sevens handle very well, but so do vettes. Sevens do better in tighter tracks, but a 600hp vette will walk away from any seven this side of 400hp as soon as there is a straight section in the track. And with the right tires, both cars will probably pull 1.2g's around the corner. Not trying to talk you out of a seven, but I came from a C5 with no power mods to a seven with about 160 hp, and did not get the kick in the pants I thought i would. I added another 250 hp, and the seven feels just fine now

fortunately all of the cars you mention can go from mild to wild. The basic concept is the same - very light spaceframe, drivetrain, suspension, 2 seats and a steering wheel. With comparable drivetrains and wheel / tire packages, they all probably weigh within a hundred pounds of each other. They're all as aerodynamic as a forklift. It all comes down to: 1- which one looks best to you 2- do you fit in the one you choose 3- can you find one for sale that's nicely done and gives you the least registration hassle in the price range you want. Adding power and grip is the easiest part of this. I can have the engine out of mine in 2 hours max. want wider wheels? bolt on a different fender... no tubbing needed. etc...

Only in BIG BOLD LETTERS

Nice. What's your asking price? and do you have details on the small headlights?

I don't want to be responsible for people's boxers and thungs not working properly

sorry... phidgets http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=1053 Their stuff works great... I have used a couple of their USB accelerometers and servos... true plug 'n' play. you can read accelerometer or control servo with just a few lines of code. Or in case of DashDaq, just plug in, tell it what's connected, and start logging.

A Mexican woodpecker and a Canadian woodpecker were in Mexico arguing about which place had the toughest trees. The Mexican woodpecker claimed Mexico had a tree that no woodpecker could peck. The Canadian woodpecker accepted his challenge and promptly pecked a hole in the tree with no problem. The Mexican woodpecker was amazed. The Canadian woodpecker then challenged the Mexican woodpecker to peck a tree in Canada that was absolutely 'im-peckable' (a term wood peckers like to use). The Mexican woodpecker expressed confidence that he could do it and accepted the challenge. The two flew to Canada where the Mexican woodpecker successfully pecked the so-called 'im-peckable' tree almost without breaking a sweat. Both woodpeckers were now terribly confused. How is it that the Canadian woodpecker was able to peck the Mexican tree, and the Mexican woodpecker was able to peck the Canadian tree, yet neither was able to peck the tree in their own country? After much woodpecker pondering, they both came to the same conclusion: Apparently, your pecker gets harder when you're away from home.

Make sure you talk to the bike guys about the reverse setup, as most don't come with a stock solution - you either have to carry the trunk monkey to push you back, or get the quaiffe box, or some other rigged solution. bike engined sevens can be fast, and I'm sure (no first hand experience - none of those guys would ever let me drive their car  ) a hoot to drive fast, but make sure you talk to those guys about what it's like cruising on the highway if you are going blating (our term for cruises). How far is VIR from you? Try contacting forum member R1 Seven. His car is a track-only car, powered by a Yamaha R1, and very well built. He has also posted quite a few videos of his track sessions.

DashDaq works with fidgets, which are usb sensors. You can plug in external accelerometers, or external data acquisition, external GPS, etc... for data logging.

2000/2002 CATERHAM SUPER SEVEN DE DION [STEVE T'S 7]
slngsht replied to Avery Waterman's topic in Cars For Sale
Sweet! hopefully they'll speak up. -
whoever it is - nice video setup! It would be much easier to read if the left / right lateral numbers were just one number with +/- so the viewer doesn't have to watch multiple spots.
-
There is no monthly payment with my DashDaq

Also, the seven is not a substitute for your vette - COMPLETELY different. After a long drive in the seven, I cruise in a vette, and I really appreciate how smooth the vette is. On the other hand, on the same road, same corner, where I feel like the vette is a handling machine, and glued to the road, I go in the seven, and it feels pretty uneventful. Then I look at the speedo, and I was actually going faster.

 I've been very impressed with my DashDaq unit so far.

damn. at least you weren't in the Rotus.

There are many good options... before I start, "off brand" was my way of putting down my own car - as it has been hacked extensively . The other brands have many strong points of their own with a wide range of powertrains. Here are the most popular ones in the US in alphabetical order: Birkin: Someone more familiar with it can chime in... I'm not sure if they are sold new in the US??? Birking and Westfield are more traditional sevens. Stalker: GM 3800 based powertrain... SuperStalkers use the S/C version. Very simple and very fast. WCM Ultralite: Mainly Honda S2000 package. contact forum member 7evin or WestTexasS2K about those. They ran a supercharged version in One Lap of America this year and finished 3rd! To give you an idea what 385 rwhp does in a seven, Kevin recorded 166MPH at the back straight at VIR. I know an instructor with a 450 RWHP head/cam C5 Z who told me he does about 140 at that point. Westfield: long history of making quality sevens. partnership with flying miata. performance options there are the turbo miata package, or if you want to get adventurous, I think you can get them with busa motors. There are quite a few more and hopefully members will chime in with more info... DEALERS AND MANUFACTURERS: If you want to chime in here about your products, please identify yourselves regarding what you sell... My advice to you... sit in a few to make sure you fit and you like the general car. It is EASY to make these cars go STUPID FAST - but not as easy if there is not enough pedal room, etc...
-
 There IS an offroad rally seven around somewhere with off road tires...
-
Dealers say the funniest things  :jester:
-
congrats! now you get to take the "(in progress)" off your sig
-
heh, fellow vette owner! there are a few of us here. I kept my C5 and bought an off brand se7en. and just to make sure I don't miss the power when I'm not driving the vette, dropped a LS1 in my seven  hmmm... i wonder if your supercharger will fit on my seven :leaving: SteveT's old Caterham is for sale... it's not a superlight I don't think but it's a very nice car. Good luck with the search.
-
THAT is a great goal... Now if you can just talk Steve T to buy his old car back again
-
heh, Work has killed my progress. Extended date sounds good. I have to leave for Austrailia in early september, so how about late August?
