  3. man, I am feeling SO unmotivated to work on the car now  It partly has to do with work picking up, and partly has to do with me wanting the car to be ready to jump in whenever I have 20 minutes. I worked on her for the first time in a week tonight. Russell Strough had graciously given me his old seats from his Birkin (yes, Tim Allen's azz was probably in one of these seats at some point  ). The seats are pretty nice, but since they are not bolted in, and they are smaller than the old seats, they would slide around a bit. Also, their rake didn't match the slope of the back area, so they rocked. I took some 2" thick pink insulation, and cut several sections to shape to position the seat at the correct angle. The side benefit is that the seats don't slide around anymore either. As for my front suspension, the plan was to take it all apart again and powdercoat it, but that means I have to work on the car again... hmmm... not sure if that's gonna get done before the dragon.
  4. pretty cool... must've taken 20 gallons of gas to load that sucker in
  5. 7:30 AM Clicky for map
  6. Sure. My car isn't very refined, so if nobody else has room, he'll have to put up with me
  7. locost7018's suggestion makes alot of sense. If your car really passes all applicable standards, take those documents to the station, have them review it. If you pass that stage, I'd look into someway of filing something on record regarding the a**hole's conduct... Just so the next time you have a run-in with him, it is on record. I have a feeling though that you may have to change at least the lights. Do they have a DOT number on them?
  8. Alright everyone... Proposed Route for Sunday: Start at Falls Grove shopping center, on shady grove road (near I 270). take 270 N to Exit for Rt 121 (Clarksburg Rd) 121N to Prices Distillary Rd. (Make Left) Prices Distillary Rd., merges with 75 Continue of Green Valley Rd (75 N) Make left on Finger Board Rd. (80), then right on Green Valley Rd. (75 N) Cross Rt. 40 and 144 and continue on 75 N Make left on Beaver Dam Rd. Make left at Lackery Rd. Make left at Bunker Hill Rd. Make left at Handboard Rd. Hit 75 South I don't quite know how long this route is yet. A total guestimate is 3 hours of driving to get back to I-270. I propose we meet at Falls Grove shopping center (across from Shady Grove hospital) at 7:30 AM and pull out at 8 AM. There is a safeway, starbucks, and krispy cream there. I don't have any idea about a good lunch place.
  9. that sucks. that could happen to alot of us I guess. They can probably pick on me for not having front plates, PIAA headlights, and possibly lack of front fenders. I did get pulled over in frankn7 once for a stupid reason (the loose nut behind the wheel), and there were a few other forum members there as witnesses
  10. That'll be sweet. I REALLY wish I had the time to go on a tour like that.
  11. kinda Seven related, so... off to the General discussion forum :yesnod:
  12. That is the Diva... I talked to the guy at Carlisle. His objective was a more "substantial" car than the Seven, with a real trunk, etc...
  13. Just a good all-around performer. Nothing wrong with beating a "drag car" at its own game. Can't leave it to those BEC's to get the job done :jester:
  14. Corrected it for ya http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=968
  15. Like that's gonna save you
  16. I just saw there is another thread going... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&m=6925#6925
  17. Busa someone else will have to run those forums... If I mention ANOTHER 2 seater, I think my wife will flip.
  18. Thanks Loren  Unfortunately I had to work all day Left for Pittsburgh at 5:30 AM, and just got back home.
  19. Martin, Actually 60 is as fast as I drive on those roads... so that was pretty much equal to the night's top speed. Deer is a real problem around here. I have just reduced the travel on the throttle, so it's a little more sensitive than I'm used to. I should've rolled into it easier on the shift. The slide wasn't too bad I had her dynoed at 380 hp, 250 ft.lbs of toque, at the wheels, so using a 15%, I figure the motor is putting out 440 hp, 285 ft.lbs. at the flywheel. Although, that was with 4.10 gears, so 15% may be a little conservative. I'm still running the stock exhaust manifold. Long tube headers (which will have to be custom for my car) will add another 40 hp. I also have to do something about my hot air intake (filter is right behind the radiator). I have corresponded with 2 journalists. I think both have decent track experience. My only advice to them will be to ease their way into it. Skip, it comes with HPTuners. HPTuners runs on a small PC mounted in the back. It functions as my gauges, data acquisition, as well as PCM reprogramming tool.
  20. there is one with a store on the dragon itself (with the tree of shame)... and at the bottom in Robinsville
  21. These (the Nittos) are the ones I'm bringing. Right now I have runflat (AKA runcrap) tires on the vette. They're worthless as performance tires.
  22. here's a plot of speed and throttle position vs. elapsed time http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/0to60_1.jpg
  23. well, sorta... I went for another rural run tonight, and figured I might as well give it the old college try for a 0-60 run. Cliff notes is that my results were inconclusive. It was alot more eventful though. First off, I should've found a better piece of pavement and set my tire pressure. That's what I get for a spur of the moment thing. The section I used had that glossy look to it where the tires go (you can barely see that in the vid.). 2nd, I short shifted, although that wouldn't have mattered. I think my current 6600 RPM redline falls at about 57 MPH :banghead: , so I'd have to shift anyway. I shifted at 6000 according to the logger. After the shift... the road got narrow I should take it easy on the go pedal. Car got sideways, but I kept her on the road. End result... I finally went full throttle at 39 MPH, hit 50 MPH at 3.195, shifted and broke loose after that, so i have no idea when I hit 60  My tires are pretty well used R compound Nitto tires, set at 30 PSI, which is too high for this app. I need a 5th wheel to test this car. There is alot more in the car with good tires, pavement, driver, etc... clicky for vid
