CONGRATS! If im lucky i too will be gettin gmy ultralite... back from the tuner with a fresh hydra ecm install.
-
this is the image that got me sold on 7's. http://www.mjswebgallery.com/carz/images/Caterham%20CSR17.jpg
-
looks rather simple to toss back together! guy would have probably gotten more money if he CLEANED it all up at least.
-
i thought i was new.. but now its hard to keep track of the NEWER people!
-
i just ordered a set of ultrashield pro drag seats. they are nice because they already have a mold form wcm ultralite so they cut 6" off the top so it wont look all tall and goofy. seats and harness 5 point fia with cam lock were $800 shipped for driver and pass including covers!!!
-
thanks very much for the offer! at this point i dont think a trailer will help. the tuner will need the car to be able to drive in order to do the work to it. so this leaves me high and dry until brian at wcm can help me out with the parts. once its together i will drive it down, or trailer if in the case of bad weather.
-
for the show the car was actually 1 inch lower and it did not rub. the rear wheels camber in as the suspension compresses and the dampening adjustable coilovers are set fairly firm to keep me from chewing tires.

so i'm sure may of you have seen my post about the show/gtg on the 30th. in case any of you missed my seven here is a short rundown of what happened. long story short. wake up ~> wash car ~> pack car to make 2 hr trip from show to tuner (later in the day) ~> pull out of garage ~> find car wont accelerate after 1/4 mile (fear clutch went bad) ~> limp to garage ~> find one of the axles (driver) has crept out of the rear (don't know how or why but it has horizontal play but glad its not clutch) ~> quickly remove the driver side knuckle to investigate and slap off a brake line fitting in the process ~> scream, curse, throw various tools across the garage ~> get to the show in the wagon at 2pm now i don't know how/when i will be able to get the car to the tuner because i have no trailer and it will rain for the next week. this means there is NO way i will make the April 20th autox in warminster and i would be VERY grateful to make the may 4th autox. i think they call this Jewish luck?

ill take a pic of my current setup today to give you guys an idea of my space as well as the completed work. i think this may be possible for all sevens.
-
money i dont think i will be saving.. i estimate spending $1200 on parts/labor on this venture

no coffee cans here... you may be looking at the tips which are 3". in person they are no THAT big. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In other news, i think i may have found the solution to my exhaust problem. I will be keeping the rear exit but i will be rebuilding the system with 2.5" from the header. i will be using oval tube (http://www.drgas.com/store/home.php?cat=8) in order to keep this stuff in the frame or worst case no lower then the oilpan. i will end up using 2 magnaflow or borla muffers at the which will be on their sides for clearance. now to just find someone willing to build this exhaust for me...
-
my exhaust does not run on over the rear axel, it comes right out of the center channel. http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3289/cimg1146resizebu5.jpg

Hello all my seven is the only one i have ever seen to have exhaust piped through the center channel and out the rear. the problem i have is that i think its compressed way to much in a few points that reallllllly restrict the flow. as much as i hate it i may have to go with the side exhaust. i would like a QUIET setup that flows good. are there any recommendations?

id love to go but the se7en has tore up and wallet no loot for a a place to stay and a safe spot for the se7en. if anyone has a couch and a safe parking spot i may be able to make the 2HR+ drive out from home base in hatboro pa . Roman

this week: 1) installed rear end with LSD supplied by Brian at WCM 2) new plugs on the trans so its no longer leaking purple stuff all over the floor 3) miata (not GM) sensors on the for the motor (gettin ready for hydra install at end of march) 4) new front and rear rear diff bushings 5) readjusted wilwood ebrake... if you every think about buying one of these... dont, its crap. 6) got some pegasus mirrors, still hot sure where i want to mout them though. 7) noticed that my wind screens are mounted on top of the hood unlike all other ultralites... think i like it better like this. things that made me laugh: 1) since exhuast is running under the diff i had to bent the seat belt brackets back as far as possible to get the exhuast flange past. THEN i pulled the rear with the drive shaft. 2) bolts connecting rear to drive shaft were, you guessed it, loooooooooose. 3) the plug non top of the rear was no where to be found... perhaps thats why it was all wet after driving.. 4) half the suspension arms in the rear were loose... makesme wonder why i paid for when they guys "looked" over it.. perhaps he just looked? lol 60 degree weather in the forcast for this week and i plan on driving!
-
thanks guys!!! this is way more info then i hoped for. i do want to go with a classic set of aviator goggles and noopy hat for the cold days and just some nice tinted goggles for the around town/backroads drives. now lets see pics of you guys in your snoopy hats!

So i finally had a chance to change the bad driver side shock and thought it would be a perfect time to try on a set of wheels ive had collecting dust for well over a year now from my old corrado project. sadly i found it was not to be . the wilwood knuckles in the front have this cone shaped hub jobber that is just too big for the center bore of these wheels . btw the back is jacked because ive removed the fuel/ rear and a bunch of other things. azev typa a 16x9 et 15 5x100 http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/7494/cimg1652hj5.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2594/cimg1654ph4.jpg
