  1. as far as i know the donkervoot or how ever you spell it has a vw 1.8t motor from the 98-2006 mkv golf/jetta/passat
  2. i just got a deal on some 235/40/17 falken rt615's with 6/32's tread left. right now i have 215/45/17 and 234/40/ 17 on the car using 17x7 wheels. is it bad to use the same tire size front and rear? i was thinking it would be ok if i ran a higher tire pressure on the front then rear to offset the traction/over steer issues.
  3. im looking at steering wheels myself. the company i work with TMTUNING.COM in Berlin Germany has many nice steerings wheels. we sell mostly to US customers so dont worry about it being over seas. just go to tmtuning.com ~> vw or audi ~> interior ~> steering wheels check out the "RAID" wheels. they are the MOMO of europe. here is a nice one for $120 in any color! http://tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog/product_detail.php?default_product=623
  4. dang! im really sorry i missed this meet. we should have a 7's only meet up on Sunday at the warminster auto cross. on a normal Sunday there is usually 3 7's anyway, we could def have a race, cruse and dinner type of thing. jwduncan, can you put up some pics of your car?
  5. sold via other forum, thanks for lookin
  6. sorry guys, i got scared away by the weather. was spittin on and off around me in the am and mid day
  7. nice to meet you! ive called up a bunch of times trying to figure out my miata powered ultralite! very helpful peoples.
  8. omg! i am so grateful for the pics! boxologist, where u there? if so why no hello? if no who took the pics?
  9. weather is still rain! cant drive a 7 with no roof
  10. im loving these little reports LOL!! while i read them i hear it in my head in the voice of a horse racing track announcer. suck about the rain though, i hope someone has an umbrella for him. :7rain:
  11. i used the 2 mounting points behind the seat and 2 on the bottom; the seat is very SOLID. i also used the old rear end bushings (if you guys remember my old post about that) to raise my seat an inch or so cause i cant see over the hood. at this point Tom would fit like a glove, but will need to remove shoes so he does hit hit gas and break at the same time. i still have yet to do anything about the 5th point though... def gota think bout that one. im afriad of drilling that bar in front of the seats and having it flex ot break on me under heavy driving. i think im gona have it welded.
  12. dang, i feel lucky. i only knew about 7's for 2 years and was actually llooking for only a few months.
  13. yea, next is exhuast... after looking at my car the shop quoted me at $2500 for header with equal length runners and nascar style oval pipe out the read with QUIET muffers.
  14. i wish i had some better before shots of the engine bay to show you just how BAD it was!!! 15. well i spoke with my father and we think it would be fun to drive up on saturday so count me in!! if possible id like to pay my membership dues there??
  16. omg... that looked so slow on video and felt so fast in person.... also it does not show the super fun slide i did all around that turn at the very back of the track. the tires are brabus crapers... no name brand summer tire they are not sticky for the track but with the price of wheels/ tires im not sure it i can do ti this season. the first thing i really need to do is my exhaust because its very restricted and is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD. keeping it down the center channel is a challenge and will cost me $1500-2000 depending on how big a paint it is for the installer. thanks again for the help and hints from the old school guys. if not for guys like tom, i would have not broken 70 sec that whole day!! also regarding the 8 runs... i had so much fun in the AM i asked about running PM. they said since i was not running for times that it would be ok plus pm only cost $20. i would have run all 4 sessions if they let me!
  17. thanks a lot for the help guys. this seems to be a bit more involved then i thought. i dont have a welder at my garage (nor do i know how to weld) so fabing up brackets wont work. any bushings or hardware meant for my seats is gone thanks to yet again , the PO. regarding this pic, the bolts on the sides of the seats stick out and i already have trouble fitting the seats in my car. if i have any hardware i flat out wont be able to fit it in (pass side is 16" seat). http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/2107963406_seat05.jpg rv-4mike, if you can shoot some pics of your mounting that would help a lot. Thanks again guys.
  18. add says manual... but dont see a gear shifter??
  19. i just checked tire rack for comp/dot tires and the only thing in my size 215/40/17 front 225/40/17 rear cost 237 EACH!! thats a little rich to me right now. im going to work on getting new exhaust work done first.
  20. "will be a force to recond with once he gets the suspension set up" currently not sure how to setup the suspension. i did notice it was better in the turns when rear is set softer but with only one run its hard to tell... i wish i could just do laps around that track for an hour while tweaking it. "We did one 360 and stayed on course and then he proceeded to power oversteer all the way around the turnaround sweeper" this was the most entertaining part of the track for me. just a little throttle and i feel like i can "tokyo dift" the car around the turn. its a really strange but cool sensation. later i was told that this was not the proper way to get around the turn. the proper way is to go in slow keeping traction and exiting fast without sliding about. "There are plenty of competitors that will give you their suggestions for improvement in both your set up and driving,if you ask them" everyone there was super helpful and i loved hearing their tips / tricks . next time i will have to play with tire pressure and a few other things i learned about. "I bet his face hurts right now from smiling so much" yes my face hurts from smiling, mostly because i never thought i would be able to make it through that field of cones and gates without going OC every time. it also hurts because its about as red as the usa7s logo on the top of the page.
  21. YOU FORGET TO PUT ON SUNBLOCK!!! So i went to my first autox today in warminster pa at the old air field. i had an absolute blast. i was guided by Tom (yellowss7) and an instructor in the morning and by afternoon i was doing well. times were (in sec) am session 75 72 69 71 (hit cone and spun) pm session 69 69 68 65 i think Tom ran in the low 50's the entire day the rear end kept trying to come out but no matter how much i tried to feather the gas (i can only image the sliding without lsd in the rear) it still crept out and i was drifting through the turns. the car was on street tires (no name brand) so i could have picked up a few sec on slicks. im not sure if im going to be buying slicks soon because i want to get used to controlling the car when its very sensitive like it is now. a few autox like this and ill run slicks. then ill be gunning for you Tom :jonautox: . i was told to soften up the suspension (dampening adjustable coilovers) before my last pass to help with the over steer problem and it made a big difference. i look forward to the next event!!!
  22. i finally got in my ultrashieldsa nd 5 point harnesses and now im not to sure how they mount. the seat is supposed to be on an tilt but how would it mount then? could a few of the wcm owners grace me with pics of the seat install, under the padding bolt hole pics, under the car mounting pics. anything would help.
