a little off topic but thought i might get a few hits here. as i young guy i would like to pick up the old art of the straight razor shave. im looking for a straight razor, a safety razor, nice shaving cup, nice badger brush, and a shaving strop. im hoping someone has grandpappy's old shaving stuff in a box somewhere. btw, i know of ebay and craigslist. some of the pricing there is crazy. im also scouting the local yard sales and second hand stores.

wcm ultralite boot cover center console
RGTorque replied to RGTorque's topic in General Sevens Discussion
i believe the knob is an older momo anatomic. the only difference being the lower screw on part is bare aluminum and not black. it was donated to my car when it visited Loren for its rebirth last year. -
a few of you guys here have been giving me a hand with bits and pieces of info to help me and a friend construct a new boot and shifter cover. here is what we came up with. http://i.imgur.com/ezulg2Fl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kzhDe1vl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kbTKcQ0l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OZYFQV5l.jpg

no idea on the belt part number but ill chime in and give my dash opinion. 1) after sitting in a sk2 with the wheel under the dash bar and over, i would 100% go with the over bar option. first it looks a hell of a lot better, and second you can see the gauges in dash better (my opinion). 2) stay away from any type of reflective surface. my s2k has a machined dash, which does not have a high shine, BLINDS me when the sun is high or behind me. a gloss finish carbon fiber dash will do the same. i advise aluminum with a vinyl carbon fiber look, or a low gloss leather/leatherett with a slight bit of pad to make the gauges look sunken in. 3) keep the fuses on the front of the dash, move them to the pass side. some of us (me) have always had little electrical issues and do pop the push fuses while driving. its nice not to have to get out of the car to push the fan fuse back in. here is my dash (with the old maiata engine) tach is now positioned at the proper angle. also, here it is when i first got it with classic gauges (if you considering that look) http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/12/cimg1153i.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/10/cimg2771resize.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/132/cimg2762resize.jpg

bumping this up since we are getting close to the dates... may 16-17 people! -
i have one set of 4 hoosier FA and one set 4 hoosier r25b. i think they will harden up before i will get all their life out as im not a regular at events like some people
-
will hoosier fa slicks be ok for this or should i run regular street (nitto nt05) for this? im having new fender brackets made asap as the 15x10 wheels i have dont fit in front.
-
looking at the required experience list i think i will not be able to attend this event . on a positive note, i did get 2 sets of slicks (unintentionally) that will need to be burned off... so i hope i can get on the track to earn my way into these types of events.

i recommend all plasti-type products. WORST case you will peal it off. if its to thin you can spay wd-40 or pb-blaster and it will wipe right now.

i would be interested in this except that all the cars are slightly different. also many second/third hand cars have modifications that were not "factory" spec. -

So How Old Is The Average 7 Addict
RGTorque replied to BusaLoco's topic in General Sevens Discussion
got the bug when i was 21, late in my 22nd year i bought my first love... has been a fiery romance ever since. -
jim, while this may be the same in some us vehicles, the vw suv's do not sure the same platform or underpinnings as the sedans. that being said, the crossover tiguan does share some golf/jetta hardware but i would consider that the same as a jetta/golf for towing.
-
just as a side note, the aftermarket and modifications community for vw is MASSIVE. every generation has a base model and performance model. its VERY easy to swap the brakes from a performance model to a lower model. for example, i can upgrade the 10.1" ity bity rotors on that 2001 golf with the mid performance 11.3" good used knuckles, caliper, carrier + new pads and rotors for under $300-350 (depending on pad/rotor of choice). want bigger? just replace the carrier and rotor for additional $100-150 and get 12.3" brakes. ALL FACTORY PARTS, easy to find, no special anything required. similar modifications can be made in all aspects of the car. another thing. if i recall the european tow hitches from bosal have a higher tow rating then our stateside uhual/hidden hitch options.
-
your fine. what you wont want to do is try to tow a load with more weight than your vehicle. a trailer with a well placed axle will tow fine. manual trans, trailer brakes, a heavy duty rear spring or inflatable spring inserts are a plus but not required. it is of course a different towing experience that pulling with a suv or truck but coming from a truck or suv a sedan towing is awkward as well. i always advise my own customers to go to uhaul and get a 6x12 trailer, go to home depot and get a bunch of sand. this will simulate what you will experience in the future. if you feel comfortable continue on, if not, get a truck .

sometimes i cannot even call the bags of flesh that attempt to operate the vehicle a "driver". yes the v10s generally came loaded with all those goodies and then some you realy dont need all the power though. i would not mind having a t2 touareg with the v6. im not a fan of the t3 because the neutered it significantly (diff awd system, no air suspension, locking diffs, etc).

time to put in my opinion? i have a vw tdi specific shop here in pa and can say that most of the issues i see coming in are from a defective driving unit that is located right in front of the steering wheel. VW group has seen serious increases in sales because of increases in quality since 2006 (especially because the jetta series 5). yes these numbers fluctuate but they are a POSITIVE trend. the porsche, audi, and vw suv are generally the same vehicle with extra "fixens" so saying one has a higher failure rather than the other is just wrong. if you watched the turn on the tv you will see vw's most recent ad stating that they have more vehicles on the road over 100k than any other auto maker. you really dont hear much complaints from the luxury brand because people frankly do not drive them to the miles that standard brands do. electrical problems be damned, i have MANY customers that come for regular service with 200k+ and a handful with 400+ and 2 with over 550 on ORIGINAL ENGINE! this is why vw in tied with gm as the top selling auto manufacturer of all time, only a SLIGHT bit off from number one toyota. in regards to the touareg in general, ive had my v10 for almost 5 years now and ive towed a 20 foot trailer as a vendor to auto shows for that entire time. the majority of its life has been towing. my mother, until recently, has a v10 touareg since new in 06 and it was flawless as was mine. it was replaced with a 2014 audi a6 diesel. she was a completely different driver than me so you can see the variety in usage. efficiency wise i can hit 25mpg highway and 18mpg city if im not flogging it around, generally i see 22/16. towing with my dolly loaded i hit 20mpg no problem. improperly maintained cars always fail. poorly trained mechanics lead customers to believe that their cars are junk. read between the lines. pardon grammar/spelling/rant.
