Hey everyone! After a year and some change and an unbelievable amount of support from Tom my 7 is done. I can't believe what an adventure it has been, I am insanely happy with the finished result. Specs for the car for anyone interested. Just a standard widebody Birkin kit only thing I asked Tom for was an upgrade to the 2.5 and a dry sump, also had the car painted the same color as my last car "Nitrous Blue" and asked to remove any chrome possible, otherwise I just deferred to Tom on everything else. For context I knew nothing about building cars when I started (still don't think I know much). I did not know what an upright was or an AN-fitting or anything really, I went in completely clueless. This was only achievable for me thanks to Tom and support from friends at work. Getting some last min paperwork together to head to DMV this week, looking to start SB100 process and hopefully everything goes smooth. There are a few things left for me to do. I need to decide if I am going use the grill the car came with, I would really prefer one with the seven logo I may try to paint one on. I also have some buddies in the fab shop at work making me up a license plat holder for the rear. Also, the under guard for the sump will probably have to be modified to clear my oil lines. Once I get an operators permit, I will need to get the throttle bodies balanced and more than likely the car needs a tune. Anyway, can't wait to get out there we have some amazing back roads here in Fresno CA and I haven't been on a track in almost two years, to say I miss it would be an understatement! Ok sorry I was so excited I forgot why I even posted. I wanted to ask if anybody has information on a good cover for 7s? I am looking for something kind of form fitting but ultimately something that can protect the car more than anything. My car will sit in the garage and my dogs go in and out through dog doors I just want something that will protect the car from furball paws. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Did you respray the car Papak or is that a wrap?

Years ago I drove my Friends Atom at a cart track and immediately went looking for something similar. An Atom almost demands you know what you are doing at all times, it was more scary then fun to me. I feel so much more comfortable in my Seven.

I would agree with kayentaskier and reach out to Tom Carlin at Birkin Direct. Whenever I have questions I always call Tom and just do whatever he recommends I am a pretty simple guy sorry about the car though buddy.

Main reason I want a kill switch is to save my battery but everyone talks to me and says the same thing. "WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO IF YOU ROLL IT AND CANT SHUT OFTHE FULE PUMP HUUUHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Look I am not saying that cant happen but Jesus haha. I also want some safety I guess. Another buddy even mentioned the starter could get stuck in the on position or something insane. But if I am being honest I just want to make sure the battery doesn't get drained if I don't drive the car for more then a week or so.

Hey Everyone, So I am nearing that stage with my car where I need to start focusing on electrical. I just got yelled at work over the fact that I don't have a kill switch (I work at a truck dealership) . I am sold on adding one but I was wondering if anyone had any pictures or recommendations on placement. We sale them here at my dealership but they are huge and kind of an eyesore. Looking for something functional and simple, if you can also maybe mention the brand and were you got it from thanks in advance.

I am currently in the process of building my Seven and was wondering if anybody has an idea of the time frame it takes to register a vehicle with the DMV. Specifically I am just trying to get a feel for the whole process. There are lots of guides that explain what documents you will need and who you will need to speak with but I was looking more for timelines, as well as specific cost associated with the whole process here in CA. Should I wait till the car is completely finished, about how long does it take once you have your first appointment ect ect?

Hey Papak, Id be interested in what you purchased I think we both have the same chassis type so id like to copy you straight up. are you planning to install it yourself? If there is one thing I feel was worth every penny it is the 3m clear bra I had on the last car.

I am definitely going to pick up some kind of rivet gun thing preferably an electric one as Vovchandr mentioned I have heard if you need to do more then 4 rivet's get an electric one!

This is exactly the info I’m looking for there is quit a bit of stuff (tools) here that I don’t have so I’ll be off to Harbor freight this weekend. There’s a lot of stuff that I’m gonna be surprised by like hole drilling and god help me anything that requires some kind of cutting. I was trying to source some kind of rolling stands and everything I found was going to be to expensive or months away. Tom suggest just a sawhorses type work bench so I picked these up today does anyone think these won’t work? They are rated for double the weight of the full built car but I’m more concerned about if the chassis will sit properly on a set?

Hello Papak I did ask Tom for a Master cutoff and he told me to not bother? Plan is to do Auto X for the first year to get comfortable with the car and then get back out on track. I don't know what a stone guard is so is that something I should try and option from Tom now? I didn't pick a Diff or a LSD I again deferred to Tom, I basically told him my plans for the car and let him set me up. It looks like I am getting a R180 LSD?

Hello everyone. I will be receiving my Birkin sometime in the next 2-3 weeks and was curious if anyone had any tips or links to any resources that they thought would be useful? Tom has been great about answering questions and mostly set me up for success, I am going into this fairly green about what to expect so if anyone has advice like " make sure you buy one of these" or "only use this kind of (X)" I would be super thankful. If anyone is curious these are the only things I asked for 2.5L Duratec Please run lines for additional usb plugs Daytime led headlights Drysump oil system Other than that the car will be completely stock. That very first Gray 7 looks like Toms Birkin Direct car?

So I don't want to hijack the conversation but I have a Birkin that will be turning up here in 3-4 weeks is this "fully closed PCV system" something I will need to be concerned about? Is this something I should ask to have addressed before the car ships? I was shooting for the same performance as a 420R but if that's not gonna pass an SB100 registration should I assume I wont.

E85 is pretty available in my area, what it sounds like is I will need an actual Tune and if possible a flex Tune. I was more concerned that I would need different injectors or maybe even a different fuel pump? Sounds like I need to reach out to Tom to find out if I can run some kind of Flex tune.
