  2. Here's the official announcement with a few more details. No mention of who the broadcast team will be. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20121015/F1/121019908?utm_source=DailyDrive20121015&utm_medium=enewsletter&utm_term=article1&utm_content=20121015-NBC-Group-gets-U.S.-rights-deal-to-broadcast-F1&utm_campaign=awdailydrive
  3. Here's a vid of a crash in an Academy race. The damage, only a few stitches according to the driver. Try to count the number of times the car rolls in the slomo at the end.
  4. Somewhere in the text along with the clip it mentions that the crew repaired ~40 Caterhams over the weekend event so a smashed muffler was probably a minor item to them.

  8. Thanks for the info. I'm still on the fence but $1,400 just for the fuel to get the truck, trailer and Seven to Orlando and home is hard to justify. I could fly out for far less but then I wouldn't have my car there and that is half of the fun.
  9. Its more like 3 1/2 days if you include the track day at Sebring on Monday. It is a long drive but I planned on doing some of the Orlando attractions while there. I've been to two LOGs and had a great time at both of them. One of our Lotus club members is driving his Elan out for the event taking 8 days on the back roads to get there. If I go I will trailer the Seven and take two days to get there via the interstates.

  11. Congrats, its a beautiful car.
  12. I'm still contemplating trailering the Seven to Orlando but cost of gas and hotels is a bit prohibitive. Is anyone interested in sharing a room at the event hotel, assuming there are rooms left at the $125 rate?
  13. There are several polishes out there from Maguires and such. Usually in a scratch remover and a separate final polish. They might fix the problem.
  14. It would, the question is is there space under the bonnet for it? It is a fairly compact unit but it does hang on the intake side of the motor. Maybe Caterham will sell their version as an upgrade.
  15. I was out for awhile yesterday. Temp was 81F. Today the high was 49F and snow on the way.
  16. This just in: "UPDATE: A representative from Lotus has informed AutoGuide that reports the Esprit has been cancelled are a rumor and that the claim holds no validity."
  17. I'm guessing they will be using the MP62 positive displacement supercharger developed by Cosworth for the Duratec engine. Same one as sold by Flyin' Miata for the 3rd gen Miata. http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=5683&parentid=0&stocknumber=03-90010

  22. Did you participate in the ceremony?
  23. HOW DID I LIVE ALL THESE YEARS WITHOUT KNOWING THIS? THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND I'll bet you never knew this!!! In the original native culture of Thailand , when males reached the age of 18 they had to participate in the following community ceremony:- They lay themselves stark naked in a large circle, feet facing inward. A beautiful young naked girl kneels over the ankles of each the men. She places a blob of honey and various crushed sweet fruits around his navel to attract flies and insects. (This keeps them off his face during the ceremony) A specially chosen nubile and very beautiful naked girl then does a sexy and sensuous dance in the center of the circle. As soon as all the men become fully aroused and develop erections, the kneeling girls then reach over the knees, pull the fully erected penises downwards as much as they can and then on a given signal from the centre dancer release them. The men's penises would then spring back up and go "WHAP!" against their belly buttons. This exercise was a measurement of the strength of their masculinity . . .the man who killed the most flies was elected to the court of the King. And that folks is why the current capital of Thailand came to be named Bangkok .
