  1. All part of the fun of owning an LBC.
  2. I'll bite, what is a spigot bearing? Might that be what is called a pilot bearing for the nose of the input shaft?
  3. A fellow from the mid-west stopped by today for a ride in the Seven I had promised him a few weeks ago. The temperature where I live was 105F, 107F in Denver. The official temperature was 105F measured at the airport which is a tie for the all time high temperature recorded for Denver. He was game for the ride even at those temperatures so off we went. The original plan we had discussed was to do a couple of canyons. Since most of Colorado seems to be burning the smoke is pretty heavy in the foothills and because I am allergic to smoke of any kind we had to stay out here in the flatlands. We did about 25 minutes of spirited driving and came back to the airconditioned comfort of the shop and chatted for awhile. To my surprise neither of us were sweating after that drive. He had a huge grin on his face and mentioned that he couldn't think of anything he had driven or ridden in that compared to the Seven.
  4. Hank, Congratulations on the sale. Please ask the new owner to contact me, I'd like to meet him and get him on our Colorado Sevens Mailing list. 303 661 9914
  5. This too will pass.

  7. Doug Peterson brought a new race car to the SCCA Chicago Region's June Sprints at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., June 15-17. But the car's status moved from new to trashed in a few blinks of an eye. Video from a camera mounted on the car shows Peterson making a move to the right as the field moves toward the start/finish line. A car two ahead of Peterson's slows suddenly and is hit from behind. That pushes the slowed car to the right and Peterson's left front collides with the car's right front--after that, Peterson begins collecting frequent flyer points. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20120620/CARNEWS/120629994?utm_source=DailyDrive20120620&utm_medium=enewsletter&utm_term=image1&utm_content=20120620-Video-shows-race-car-flip-from-driver%27s-view&utm_campaign=awdailydrive
  8. Wasn't me that hit the turkey at 45 mpg. I do drive 45 sometimes, when I go through it accelerating or decelerating.
  9. Wow! Your grandson was very lucky he didn't take that turkey in the face. Happy to see everyone but the turkey survived uninjured. Are you going to cook the turkey? Will the grandson be willing to ride in the Seven again?
  10. Steve, Call me up until 11:30 Mountain time tonight or early in the AM as I am leaving around 9AM for the weekend and will be back on Monday afternoon.
  11. Steve. I have a whole Zetec/Caterham SV exhaust system except for the tailpipe, never installed on a car. Call me at 303 661 9914 and we can talk about it.
  12. Penguins Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins On the ice in Antarctica - where do they go? Wonder no more ! ! ! It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: "Freeze a jolly good fellow" "Freeze a jolly good fellow." Then they kick him in the ice hole. You really didn't believe that I know anything about penguins, did you? It's so easy to fool OLD people. I am sorry, the devil made me do it!!! BTW, I fell for it too.
  13. If that car were on this side of the pond and the price was in dollars, not pounds I'd be the happy new owner.
  14. Great news! I'm happy you got your car back.
  15. It is a Delahaye from the late 20s or early 30s. It is a one off land speed record car with a magnesium block v-12 engine. The way it was parked in the shop made it impossible to get a good picture of the whole car. There is a documentary about the car on Discovery but I haven't been able to find it.
  16. That Talbo Lago looks a lot like this one. I cannot remember the year or model designation but I followed it around the track one day. I think Bruce's car is a Bentley but don't know the details on it. Here's my mystery car at the bottom.
  17. Ferrari 250 GTO but the Statos is high on my list.
  18. Very nice. Does the new manifold mean there will not be a hump on the bonnet or part of the engine showing through an open hole?
  19. That AH driver had a big can of whup ass for those E types, Lotus Elites. Elevens and the Mustang GT350. Great driving!.
  20. I saw this excellent display of 19 performance cars at the Utah Fine Arts Museum in Salt Lake City last weekend. If you live in the area or are passing through it is worth your time. It will be open through mid September. http://www.speedumfa.com http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=143844&d=1339110020 http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=143845&d=1339110031 http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=143846&d=1339110040 http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=143847&d=1339110047 http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=143848&d=1339110056
  21. What car would the 2.5 liter engine be found in?
  22. Steve, I've been to the one in Vegas and the one in Aspen in '07. I had a great time at both of them and I am planning on going to Orlando for this one.
  23. I've seen a few and read about a number of Cobra's with Chevy engines. I have also seen several Cobras with automatic transmissions. :banghead:
  24. The Miata engine in my Caterham is factory stock except for the turbo, injectors and ECU. Its last dyno was 301 RWHP and 268 lb ft of torque. The clutch is a factory clutch for the '04 & '05 Mazdaspeed Miata, a factory turbo so it is a little stronger than the original clutch. The transmission is a 5 speed Miata box. The differential is the Ford Sierra unit to which I added a Quaffe LSD. The suspension is factory Caterham with the Roadsport springs and shocks. I added adjustable coilover mounts to the Bilstein shocks that came on the car. So far there have been no problems related to the extra HP and torque. I do check the torque on the diff mounts and the suspension at fairly frequent intervals. I also inspect for any cracking or bending of the differential mounts.
