  1. Since we think we will have to be replacing the tailshaft seal on the stock ford T9 tranny. What is the best tranny oil-lube-fluid i should put in this thing? something by redline? or some synthetic even ? or?...not sure what the stock is supposed to be? who's the best supplier for parts for this tranny? does anyone have a manual for such?...we dont have anything apart yet but are guessing it has a typical rear tailshaft seal right?
  2. As a follow up, we got our 8" springs on (after a hassle getting the 10" off!) surprisingly...maybe it's our imagination but the car just seems to have a tad bit better ride taking the abrupt bumps. we set the shocks at 300 MM not the 294 just for good luck.
  3. and so it goes...we used the heck out of her this weekend..even got it all dirty in the rain! GASP! We also were reminded why we have always built-rebuilt cars on our own in the past.. After some 200 miles around ne-ohio we dug into some uncomfortable sounds and found the alternator hanging by it's belt..the owner-builder had used some grade -0 bolts and the atlenator bracket had broke off on the block. that was a fun fix...but it doesnt stop there, the engine mount had come off the engine for the same reason. YIKES! The bolts had snapped. :banghead: and we are going to have to take the tunnel off, we believe the tail seal is blown in the tranny.. well at least we should get these bugs worked out now before summer really starts.
  4. So,,what does everyone here say...when they get asked the first primary question wherever they go.. "so....is it a kit car"? :skep:
  5. Ok,,,we have a question....is this a proper british sportscar? :toetap: gee wont it leave a big oily spot on that fine grey carpeting? We have had our se7en for only 4 months and already it is acting british by marking it's territory. very cool though...we have a similar situation at a local parts house (summit racing) where they display random customers cars through the year..but it's tarmac time now! Looks like a dunebuggy?...sigh..i have heard this as well. also been called a "zoombuggy" at the gastation...and always always get the same question first...is it a kit car?
  6. If anyone is driving along the roads of NE-ohio, mainly Akron Tonight/friday, and through the weekend, wave hello we will be putting some miles on her. :7drive:
  7. We are very happy at the cockpit size of the birkin/se7en. We test fit both the birkin and a standard caterham, and it seemed the birkin had some fractions of an inch better in the right places. We are going to trial out a couple seats (thanks gary) which we suspect will make the car fantastically comfortable. point being the bigger caterham would probably be more interior size than needed for us. but it would be wonderful for the big boys and gals who want the expereince. Driver here 5'10" and 190. size 10-1/2 shoe driven with puma indoor soccer shoes. we dont need more room it's 90% perfect for us. better seats will make it 100% comfy.
  8. Nobody warned us... This se7en is addictive isnt it?
  9. Do they have any more??? oh,,this would be cool...i could bend up a new-higher one for those track days. what sizes did it accomidate?
  10. We will be camping somewhere on the show grounds, wherever designated camping is..or next to the car if they allow us? Mealwise,,we deffinitly like trying to find local cuisine. Which way to the best burgers? We always seem to enjoy ourselves more when we DONT eat at chains when traveling. Boiling springs tavern sounds great! 1 hr drive around sounds good? However we have never been to carlisle before and would like to see most of it. Dont wait for us if we are caught up with some vendor shmoozing for free stuff...lol go-kart track sounds fun, but will the se7en fit? We will be leaving friday early evening,,6:30 or so.. mary's gotta work till 5:30..we will be comming from akron. arriving at carlisle (mapquest says 5 hrs and i believe it) at 11:30? hope the weather is good, if it's really bad weather we will wait till saturday morning. So,,if someone wants to hook up and travel along that late,,,thats cool, but we wouldnt expect it.
  11. seats?!?! OHH!! well heck yes!..but what if we get spoiled by them? will contact you off forum for details. wow thanks! Actually we drove her to work again today (27 degree sunrise in ohio)..i was able to glue my eyebrows back on after they froze off. but it's supposed to be mid 50 by afternoon,,,and 70's tomorrow!!!
  12. The 190 airs seemed to help this morning...have to give her a good run tonight to feel (and check plugs) if anything really changed. Wish we had access to those rolling road dyno's the state of ohio e-check (emmissions) centers have. they have like 8 of them per station and only use 3 on any day...
  13. Kudos to the Mrs...without them we often could never make these things happen.:blueangel: And that also the reason Mary gets her turns driving the se7en as much as i do.
  14. For that price the buyer STOLE that car! From what i have seen,,and what we were looking for before we bought ours..he should have paid 6k more for it minimum. damn what a deal,,what a steal!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
  15. Heres a picture of our 1600 x-flow,,and the sign they posted for us when we got to the track...http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1778252674_x-flow.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1615814279_turtleraces.jpg our hourglass ran out of sand by the end of the 1/4 mile.
  16. >>> yeah they are positivly aweful :ack: temporarily (read : budget is going other places at the moment) we took off the covering from the seat bottom and repadded it, then made a spacer under the front seat mounts to tilt it back about 5 degrees more. These are not good answers to the problem as there is still NO side support and the contour is still all wrong..but it's at least tolerable. :skep: this will be a good week roadwise in ohio...warm and dry! oh yes...lets post those se7en roads! kitcat great to hear she's started and running..see you on theose southeaster ohio roads this summer?
  17. Great news Indeed. I hope that this venue improves the communications and product support between the Parent Birkin manufactures and Us here on this side of the lake. We completely enjoy our Birkin, and this can only be good news for us existing owners as well as new owners. Perhaps as time goes on, some of this refinement may even find it's way to our garage. To Dick we hope your continuing efforts are positive and your able to bring the miles of smiles to those who enjoy them.
  18. We are already fighting over who will get to drive our se7en to work on any given day...Mary loves driving the se7en. if we could afford 2....we probably would.
  19. wow,,,nice... So this is what mine would look like with the zetec,,,sweeeeet. very nice car, What kind of battery are you using? is it mounted on it's side? or are that where the posts are?
  20. Check out simpson safety website, they make car seats for kids..
  21. http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/map/interactive/USOH1098?from=36hour_map_large&zoom=7&interactiveMapLayer=radar However we use NOAA when sailing. http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sectors/eastgrtlakes.php?element=MaxT these charts seem to be surprisingly accurate. Following these charts Saved our butt's a few times on lake Erie. :7rain:
  22. Cool thank you SO much for the info! ((hey kudo's to this site, i seem to get faster-more info from the members here than the same from other places thanks guys!!)) I found both a set of eibach and afco springs this size-length-rate, but until i am more knowlegeable it's awesome getting confirmations that i am looking at the right stuff. Thank you!
  23. how difficult is it to get ahold of Woody? i have placed several unanswered calls (voicemails) and theres not an e-mail i can find. Any suggestions? i am not close in ohio. I looked into the Eibach springs website but there seems to be several options if i go that way.
  24. I see a speck of dust on the engine..and it's missing the windsheild washer bottle....sure i might make him a deal on it, but i would want my itb's red not yellow... damn nice looking!! ahhhh zetec. someone better have to pay more for this than i did mine...or i'm going to be depressed.
  25. Sorry to hear your stuck that way...i wont tell you about today..we hope you get started soon!
