Croc, ....Only one SV at LOG30--yours.... Is that another jab because I wasn't at the picture? Autocross? Track Day? Mike, At least you didn't say anything like, "I could spot the SV owners/drivers because of their weight and girth...." Taber

Well, I've made it half way to Gettysburg--Joan and I are in a motel in Southern VA. The Cat 7SV is in the trailer in the parking lot. I had to work on the TRAILER--it hadn't moved in over a year. Cat prep only included dusting off the regular top, the bikini top and putting them on the back. Packing--too easy when you have the truck and a trailer--you can bring anything you think of--wish I had thought of everything... See you guys tomorrow. Taber

Are we going to try for a USA7s meeting, or dinner, drive, etc. at LOG 30? Dean has well-advertised the "Lotus" events, but we could use this opportunity to meet, as we did at LOG 29. Any plans or ideas?

Plus one on that! Driving my brand new 2007 Caterham 7 SV from RMSC, Inc. home to Fla, I had problems in Alabama, about two hours from home. It seems that one of the caps had come off/been knocked off-lots of people were looking under the bonnet the whole way home. Ran fine at speed, but wouldn't idle at all. I was very relieved to find the problem and fix it for a couple bucks--package of caps and package of twist ties--which are still in the boot now nearly three years later!

Not everyones cup of tea: custom plates
Taber10 replied to twobone's topic in General Sevens Discussion
My Fla License is "CAT 7SV" It is the special "save the turtles" plate, with the sea turtle pictured between the "T" and the "7" Taber -
Croc, I'd be interested in the driving tour of the battlefields, but I'm going to have to look at it beforehand--the Caterham does not have a CD player! Boxologist must have a pretty sharp 7 if it has a CD.....

I will be there, with the Caterham SV and my wife. I haven't actually registered, or decided what to participate in, but drives with other 7s are my goal. Also, I would like to encourage meals with the 7 group over the entire LOG group when feasible. Taber

About to pull the trigger, but have some important questions
Taber10 replied to biomax's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Biomax, I'm sorry I have little advice to offer, but I think the rollbar will be painted black, but I really think the wife's opinion is an important step! Good luck, Taber -
Tall w/clown feet: Caterham SV vs. Birkin?
Taber10 replied to e043656's topic in General Sevens Discussion
e043656, Welcome to our group. I am 6'3, and have narrow Size 12 shoes. When I first "jumped" into a Caterham, in the '70s, I had to extracate myself, since I had gotten in while wearing a pair of "street" boots, I think we called them "Dingos" or something. However, I have driven my SV in all sorts of street and dress shoes, including Columbia hiking boots, with no problem. On long trips, I also can slip my left foot behind the pedals, although I try not to make a habit of it. I don't own any racing shoes, but get into the SV with whatever I'm wearing for those trips to the Post Office, gas station, etc. that I'm always looking for. I don't have the lowered floor pan. Good luck for your search. Taber -
In November I drove down to take a look at this kit. While the kit of course doesn't begin to compare to my Caterham, it does seem well worth the advertised price. The bid is well below that right now. What impressed me was the friendliness of Paul's crew and their apparent willingness to help the buyer/builder. They are available to source any of the additional bits, and are willing to assist in any step of construction/assembly. Specifically, they would weld suspension points for any setup/donor system. Scannon, Thanks for posting! That was a great guy--wish I'd have gotten to meet him! Taber

MHKFlyer, I just had the opportunity to go through the pictures in your build log, and it NEARLY convinced me to buy your car myself! Really impressive the time and effort you put into the construction, not to mention the documenting itself. All of it looks great. Taber

It must be either my computer, or my eyes, but it looks like "THE Stig" lost that round. Can't be! But as the video says, "more to come" so I'll keep watching!

While I don't disagree with the basic thought of this original thread, and I definitely agree with the quote above. But I guess I have to give Ford some credit--other than for the Zetec in my Caterham--because they didn't take any of the Federal "Bailout" money that Chrysler and GM got.
-
And since it doesn't have the suspension attachment points yet, would you have to learn AL welding to complete? Is that hard?
-
The S4 sold for $15,500, which would be an OK deal, if it is in as good shape as it looks like in the pictures. Does anyone know who bought it? Hopefully they will join us and post some more information.

What was the reserve before? Or, how high did the bidding go? I'd love to have a Series IV!

List your projects for the winter modding season
Taber10 replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Alaskossie, I wish I still had Nathan Down working on my SV--this list would be longer, no doubt! I have to add a Power Outlet. I have a "Marine Grade" socket, but need to mount and wire it. I want to add one of the LED Brake/turn signal strips on the roll bar. My car does not have the CHMBL. I have started procurement of the "older, longer" Caterham wings/fenders--I have one and another on order. I want to try them to see if they will decrease the amount of rocks and trash thrown into the passenger seat... However, Ben said that some people believe they look less "traditional" than the shorter wings the car came with. I am all about the traditional look--forget that highly polished look! I will eventually procure and mount a fire extinguisher. Of course, here in Fla panhandle, the driving is often BETTER in what most people call winter than it was in the heat of summer, although I drove the CAT all summer.... Taber -
MNLotus, I rarely post here, but there are times when I can't keep myself quiet: I have nearly 30 years experience as a Safety Officer, researching how, when and why things went wrong after the damage is assessed.... You need to go back to your other thread, and read scannon's advice again, this time with an open mind. And again, no disrespect intended, trying to be helpful, but if you can't pick out a hot wire, switched or unswitched, a proper connector, etc. you should be very careful working on your electrical system. And everyone else should be very careful trying to give you pointers that could lead you to a potentially expensive mistake. Good luck.

For those of us that were involved, we will never be able to say "THANK YOU" to John often enough, so I'm taking this opportunity. Not only is the museum "top notch" whether your interests are restoration, autos in general, Lotus or the two wheeled machines, it has something for everyone. But during their busiest weekend of the year, no doubt, John was able to arrange special introductions and tours for us. Absolutely amazing--the museum, the hospitality and the weekend!

Guys, When I used to live in Albuquerque, I did the "Tour of the Inner Loop" in the Gila Forrest, a two day bicycle ride sponsored by Twin Sisters in Silver City. Wonderful road for USA7s, and none of our route was dirt. Some loose gravel, some horses, but really overall great riding. Taber

I don't know what you call it, but it certainly looks great--esp. compliments that polish job on the bare metal. Taber

So what is your Tow Vehicle and Trailer look like?
Taber10 replied to MHKflyer52's topic in General Sevens Discussion
My daughter, a former employee of Digital Image of Savannah, GA, completed some graphics on my trailer.
