  1. I can’t wait to see the documentation you have, and I’m certainly willing to be a caretaker of the originals since my car is a 1600 BDR. Sorry to hear winter has appeared early.
  2. I finished the polishing a few months ago and it still looks great. I want to get it a bit nicer, then think annual touch up as needed. i always keep it covered so i think that helps as well
  3. Well, that’s an interesting question. I started with Mothers but that didn’t provide the results I was looking for. After lots of trial products, I landed on Wolfgang Metal Polishing System, basically a corse, medium and fine polish system. It has a sealant as well. This was the only multi part system I found, and I’m happy so far. The corse did a great job tackling the heavy oxidation and letting the medium and fine do their job. it looks good, but I want to work on the finish a bit more.
  4. Enjoying a great fall drive
  5. I have a Lotus - Steel Brothers, S4. The vehicle is identical to the Lotus, as well as Caterham S4 cars. I have a list of the S4 chassis S/N Steel Brothers built from their Lotus supplied kits.
  6. 94 Westfield SEiW on BAT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-westfield-seiw-lotus-seven-replica/
  7. I’ve used OWATROL Marine Polytrol which does a nice job bringing back the color and pretty long lasting
  8. I registered my 83 Caterham in Mass. no issues at all. Assuming you have a prior title if used, and RMV1 for registration it should be easy. The only question that came up was the VIN since it wasn’t standard, but it was accepted by the RMV.
  9. I highly recommend Hagerty as well, and have used them for many vehicles over time. One thing they’ve added which I like is the option to get the vehicle back at no added cost in the event of a write off. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen!
  10. @PJJacksonnot sure where you are located but there’s a GBS currently for sale in CA maybe that’s close to you
  11. Here’s an early Westfield on BAT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-westfield-seven-replica/
  12. This is certainly an interesting S4. I have an early Steel Bro S4, TC BV, and based on the information I have, Steel Brothers sold S/N 3001 through 3043. The remaining chassis and components were assumed to be stock on hand or work in process when Steel Brothers sold the manufacturing rights. The S/N is not listed as a completed car at the time, so it looks like this chassis was constructed with aluminum body similar to the S3.
  13. I think you’re correct on the re-skin. To my knowledge, and it’s limited, the MK4’s were always fiberglass bodied, and not a combination of aluminum and fiberglass. Certainly interesting.
  14. @Slonie while I haven’t seen it in person, it does look nice. Adam brings in some great JDM cars, this one was brought in last September. When I first saw it, I found it interesting that it has cycle fenders instead of clams, which I have on my Steelbro MK4.
  15. @IamScotticusand @32eachtime that’s correct a Twin Cam Big Valve. Well $16k is out of the budget, I’d need to sell one of the 7’s and that would be difficult to do.
  16. @IamScotticus I’m loving that S4, looks just like mine! I can tell that’s a BV under the bonnet! If you ever decide to part ways, and I know that’s unlikely, but I’d be interested. Very nice.
  17. Love the neon 7, that’s a great find.
  18. @IamScotticus, that’s are really nice airbox, thanks for sharing it. I think it I need to change my setup! I also appreciate the link on the S4 development. I had not previously seen it. This Forum is truly amazing!
  19. @wdb, that’s an interesting thought. The S4 manual show a box type unit, but with an air inlet in the front of the unit, which is different than the pancake style installed. I need to see how much space exists between the filter and Bonnet to see what I can fit. Thanks for your insight.
  20. @MV8thanks for your thoughts. I may try to repurpose a round and see what luck I have shaping a filter. I’m also going try and straighten and reseal where needed as you recommended. I was a little concerned with the bent areas, but overall the other side is much better.
  21. @JohnChthanks for the recommendation to the OZ Club, I’ve also found the NZ Club, so maybe one of the will recognize it. @mrmustang the KN Tech was my first try. I agree it certainly looks like a KN filter, but they didn’t have any details. I never thought it would be a challenge finding a filter, but worst case I’ll install a couple of low profile KN. Thanks both for your help.
  22. Thanks for your feedback and insight @JohnCh, I agree the others may work out. I’ll also look at the ITG. I was hoping someone would recognize it. part of the issue may be the car was originally made in NZ (Steel Bro) so it might have been a somewhat custom part. Thanks again
  23. I’m on the hunt for an air filter for my S4. It’s a BV TC running Dellorto DHLA carbs. I’ve been unsuccessful finding a replacement, and thought it was a K&N based on the sticker, but no joy there. The assembly covers both carbs showing measurements, and installed on the car. I don’t want to cut into the Bonnet. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  24. @wdb nice illustration, I’m not a FB person, so I it’s unknown to me. I appreciate you sharing it! Have a great ‘25.
