  3. So Mike, did you notice that the powered mic actually made a difference vs the non powered one? I am using the non powered Olympus ME-15 you started with combined with a stereo jack adapter and have had pretty good results so far. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=7755
  4. Coincidentally, C&D just put up this video .
  5. My friend has an Espada, it's actually his second one. He says a good one goes for $40-50k http://www.caranddriver.com/columns/aaron-robinson-the-curtain-rises-on-yet-another-epic-battle-with-an-italian-original-column
  6. That was a scary one. I hear they are ok, only some broken bones .
  7. This is the story according to Bob Hall (the "father" of the Miata)
  8. I believe it was the Ferrari 90210 Probably the 365, too many numbers.... :banghead:
  9. Actually, the product planner on the Miata project is adamant that the car wasn't based on the Elan despite all the similarities and the fact that they had one on hand during the creation of the car. He claims the styling is based more on the Ferrari 275 Daytona. I don't believe him BTW, the Elan has a folding top and electric roll up windows
  10. Yes, that is my old Elan. It is pretty far from stock though, it has a lot of engine modifications and has had suspension upgrades as well, so performance wise it is closer to this Miata Super 20 show car. Sam had contacted me a couple of months ago and I put him in touch with the new owner. Sam, who is based in Chicago, also owns an Elan.

    Foggy 4th

Had a bit of a drive with some of the other fella's but sadly a marine layer of thick fog had rolled into the mountains. For most of the drive we couldn't see our hands in front our face and got a bit damp as well. This was the only section that was somewhat clear. .

  19. I am fairly certain that the ext mic port is stereo as I have a mono mic and initially the sound was only coming out of one channel until I bought a stereo adaptor and now it plays both channels. I am also fairly certain that the built in mic doesn't turn off since I was still getting wind noise and chatter from the camera moving around in the case even with the ext mic plugged in. I taped over the mic, sealed the case and put foam around the camera so it didn't rattle and the noise stopped. I have the same problem turning it on, not sure I want to spend money on the remote though and I think it can't be used with the viewscreen I wish they made it more of a pencil cam style like their competitors, it looks a bit silly to be sticking a box out into the wind, the other cameras out there are a bit more appropriate in style and "aerodynamics". That said I chose the GP because it provided the best quality and had the most aftermarket support Also wish they made a longer lens version, the FOV is a bit too wide and distorted.

Seatbelts are like that in the Lamborghini Murcielago too. Eye protection? I wear a full face helmet most of the time http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2148806/Golfers-shot-hits-motorcycle-rider-mouth-knocking-teeth.html The video was shot on a test track though, so not much need for protection .
  22. Congrats! That's amazing, when I did mine I had to camp out because the sequence numbers were all gone by 10am I didn't have to do any brake/light inspection
  23. While I am sure the entire $1 (if that) of your taxes that went towards the DMV payroll entitles you to special privileges, I kind of figured that wasn't going to be the case for me (I only paid $.50). I asked around first, and despite having a DMV literally a mile down the road from me, I drove 40 miles each way to a DMV with a "Kit Car Lady". And even she had to look things up in the book. She was great though, after seeing the car and declaring it "awesome" she gave me a 6 month temp permit (which is unheard of and no longer allowed) to use the car since I had to wait that long until Jan 2nd. If you had a rare medical condition wouldn't you seek out a specialist rather than going to a general practitioner? I also think a lot to do with how well a visit to the dmv goes is dependent on ones own attitude too BTW, the average DMV employee salary is $37,000 (factoring in management) and I believe some of the people who work the front desks don't get much more than minimum wage, so not exactly attractive to the cream of the crop .
  24. It is because they only have to deal with a minuscule fraction of cars like this that not too many people know how how to deal with it. Most DMV's have never even had to do an SB100 registration, you can't expect them all to be experts on the subject. If you want to do something outside the norm, it is up to you to do your due diligence on the subject. I've had nothing but great experiences at the CA DMV .
  25. A bunch of nonsense. Plutocracy is closer to the truth actually. And those that claim they are "producers" are making their wealth off the backs of the real producers. I have no sympathy for them. .
