  1. Looks like a security system component. The Induction ring would encircle the ignition barrel and would recognize the correct ignition key. Since it is still located close to the key, I would wager that it is still active and functioning normally. m
  2. I bought a used kit. Weber Alpha ignition, Matching DCOE 45s with massive 40mm venturis, 150 main jets, 50/F8 Idle jets, 155 air correction jets. Runs fat once warm so I'm going to reconfigure the carbs to something more streetable. One thing that seems to be critical is to keep the carbs in ambient air rather than the hot air they are ingesting currently. m
  3. I'm on 30k miles now. I missed the 7s. m
  4. Ellerby's Westie is red without the skirts. Jeremy is the Teen Son of Jeff, the car owner. They are local to me. m
  5. The English Rocker, Chris Rea who was prominent in the '80s is/was a Caterham nut. He is mentioned in one of the Caterham/seven books. I don't know what the song is though. m

    Morgan 3 wheeler

Yup. The seat belts. I reckon you'd get your torso torqued to the out side of the tub in a collision, and not be held by the shoulder belt if the car was on its right side. I thought she was a tall woman but she looked really small in the tub. m
  9. I just watched this and noticed something rather scary. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-video/morgan-3-wheeler-video-review Who else spots this issue? m
  10. Ammo is/was Raceco. Raceline is a different company. m
  11. ^^^^A Big Ditto on that. m
  12. I thought it would be a lot more $$ than that. I always thought that he was a little OTT. Too bad for the employees. I hope things get sorted soon before the engineers go somewhere else. m
  13. Inboard front suspension...Yum! m
  14. I've had the Birkin for nigh on 11 years. Within 5 minutes of getting out of it I have the following short term issues: 1, I have to concentrate on walking. 2, I can't write until the fine hand tremors go away. 3, Simple addition and subtraction are beyond my ken. I don't think anything other than an Atom or Mono or KTM Type of machine could have the same effect. ...And this is just driving on the street. m
  15. Ok, One last time...You're absolutely sure that you weren't parked on a Nicolodeon set? m

    Hot Feet

I have read about the heat in the foot wells but I don't notice. I have a hole in the foot well to access the top starter mounting bolt but that's it for non standard ventilation. Maybe a NACA duct on the side panel? m
  17. It was nice to see these club racers in action. I prefer these small budget mildly converted racers in action compared to the Outlandish silhouette racers like todays DTM. I'll have to pull the 7 out today. m
  18. I rebuilt my Zetec and did not remember to do my separator mod. I ran 3/4" tube from the breather unit into a catch can. Since the rings now seal tightly, there is very little crank case pressure, and no oil in the catch can. As the engine wears, I'm sure I'll be working on this issue in the future. m
  19. The Olympics only last a week. Someone wants attention. m
  20. The argument for/against the block of plate for the crank case ventilation system . Some say it should be retained With/without the one-way valve off the separator in order to prevent the build up of air pressure in the crankcase. If the pressure builds up, it prevents the oil from draining back to the sump. This is something I have experienced, so I'm in the "for" camp. Raceline are a highly respected UK builder/supplier of Ford engines to the RWD Escort engine update market, and to se7en builders. They say that if the engine is correctly built, the Crankcase vent hole can be blocked off. The last time I saw a debate, it was on the Westie site http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/ m
  21. It sounds like you'll have to punch out the plug in the oil dipstick hole. Be careful not to eliminate the shelf in the hole that calibrates the penetration of the dipstick tube. On the ZX1, the end of the dipstick tube is splined. The large hole is for a air/oil separator, which allows air out of the crankcase into a feed for re-ingestion connected to the factory intake manifold and other emissions equipment. Typically the hose from the CCV is routed to a catch can instead of the intake manifold because the oil vapor and any extra oxygen re-ingested tend to lean out the intake charge. There is a one way valve between the separator and the hose. There is a lot of debate as to whether the valve should be deleted. Raceline in the UK who build/sell a lot of Zetecs usually just cover the hole with a plate....Big debate in the UK regarding this mod also. If you are using an engine management system that uses a trigger wheel/sensor combo running off the crank pulley, by all means cover the CPS port so that stones don't have access. On the intake side, a piece of sheet aluminium can be cut and used as a stone block. I'll leave the query about the water hose to a ZX3 owner. Mine is a ZX1 and is routed differently. m
  22. Oh No, One of my dream Cats. Thank goodness you're ok. Looks like Cold tyres and the peak torque of the engine hitting at the moment the rise took the vertical load off the rear axle. The resulting flare broke the rears loose. Probably nothing you could do with the steering as there was no grip in any of the tyres. If there had been any heat in the tyres, I think you would simply have spun if the rears had happened to break loose. Bummer. m
  23. How about this one? http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/6%22_STAINLESS_STEEL_SILENCER_SIL6 m
  24. Lol. I've always associated the worm infested Fleabag stance with front wheel drive cars. I'm going to try a shorter spring to reduce rear arch gap as long as it does not negatively impact the handling. m
  25. That's good. I bought a used Weber/Alpha Kit from a Tiger Zetec owner in the UK last year. The twin DCOE 45's have 40mm Main venturis, jetted to match and runs too rich when warm on my engine. I need to re-jet before getting to the track. m
