They are custom dimension 3 part wheels for the CSR - the BBS center is not unique to Wesmo. I ordered bits recently from BBS for new wheels for another project. They are off the shelf motorsport pieces you can order direct from BBS if you know what you are doing. My wheels will not fit an R300 or any de Dion chassis. Thats ok as you can just show the center to BBS to order it and then ask for the inner and outer barrel pieces to get your custom offset and width to suit your car. For the record my wheels are: Front: 7x13 ET40 Rear: 9x13 ET8 (not sure about this offset as I am traveling and I really need to find my paper BBS order files at home) - either way it would be wrong for your car. The 13 inch wheels always look a little lost in the rear guards of any Caterham - mine is the same. This is a photo of it wearing the Hoosiers, which I used before I shifted to the P-Zeros. The P-Zeros fill out the rear guard a little more. About the same on the front as the Hoosiers. Width is perfect.
-
Neither will mine in some events which is why I made the comment about hand grooving a tread pattern. Easy enough to mimic the ZZR. A little quicker than ZZR Extreme - a second a lap. But if the ZZR Extreme are not available then the P-Zeros are MUCH quicker.
-
I didn't think much of the Nankang AR1. My track replacement for both the ZZR and the Hoosiers (now that Cooper Tires have changed the compounds and sizings) is to go Pirelli P-Zero for 13 inch wheels. If I need a tread (for a specific track day operator) then I have them hand grooved in a style similar to the ZZR - its easy to copy. Very close to the ZZR and maybe a fraction behind the old pre-Cooper Tires Hoosier R7 version. Downside - they are not cheap! I believe these are used for Formula 3 in Europe. For road I will stick with R888 for now in 13s. Still experimenting with my UK Caterham.

Caterham CSR - brake pad recommendations
Croc replied to NecronomiconJules's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I ended up talking to Luke's mother and getting my order that way. He does not ignore you then! My CSR runs the original pads it came with from Caterham 15 years ago. No idea what they are but they work for me on track and road. I drive so many different cars on track I can adapt myself to the car and make it work. The softness in the initial bite is master cylinder related and not pad related. Changing pads is band aid on the original problem. You can get a brake proportioning valve to work on a CSR as I have seen it done but it will need the race master cylinder like I recommended. -
I hope you do not mind Greg, but I wanted to add that I have seen this car on track at NJMP over many years in the hands of a former owner who attended the annual HPDE event. Despite being driven hard, it was well sorted, reliable and damn quick.

Geoff - Do you mind if I add these to the galleries on the USA7s site? If you do then I will add them on 6/27.

Caterham CSR - brake pad recommendations
Croc replied to NecronomiconJules's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Upgraded master cylinder changes pedal feel - firms it up. improves it along the line of what you are looking for. I suspect some of your feel concerns are not going to be changed by the brake pads alone. Try to get in touch with Luke at Team Leos Motorsport in the UK. Very knowledgeable guy but very hard to track down. He has a business supporting racing Caterhams including some race CSRs. I use his upgraded rear shock mounts after the Caterham ones showed signs of failing. -
Roman - I want to say thank you for making the effort to come and say hello. I recognize it was a long haul but it was great to see you.

A few cars missed out on the photo as they were worried about hair getting wet or had broken by then...

Caterham CSR - brake pad recommendations
Croc replied to NecronomiconJules's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Rather than change pads I will suggest something else. You are probably running the original standard master cylinder that Caterham supplied. Upgrade it to the Caterham race master cylinder. Try it out then see if your pads need changing. -
Some context for the above. We were running in the open wheeler group which was mostly us se7ens but a few Formula Fords plus Formula Enterprise, a 180hp Mazda version of the Duratec, power beastie. The Formula Enterprise is shown briefly chasing Vlad in the above immediately above photos, only to be passing Vlad within the next 75 feet. It was quick. Weather today was overcast plus a lot of smoke from nearby wildfires. First session was dry. Second session started with a drizzle. Slightly disconcerting as most of us were on slicks or close to slicks. It was decent grip until 3 laps from end of session when I noticed it was looking "shiny" track in places plus the rear was stepping out for me. Photo session on the start finish line was in light drizzle. Third session was a damp track. Kudos to those who went out, including @wemtd on slicks. Manageable but you had to be very gentle and not try to push it too hard. A few injuries today. Vlad managed to knock off another front wing. Same one...again.... Carl developed a little oil leak and sensibly packed up before it could get worse - something oil leaks have a habit of doing. We are done for the day now and all heading home. More photos will appear on here as people get home and unpack. Group photo will turn up once Mikey has some free time to process through the images.

The dildo of consequences rarely comes lubed. Fortunately the package Charlie got off Amazon came with its own supply. That SBFS tunnel accessory is excellent for storing things like that. That car will have a hat trick of knobs when the owner turns up later.

We just polished off the usual spectacular lunch. Track day luxury for the participants. Driver fails are a pretty lengthy list this year: 1) Simon corded his tires. Two spins on track. New tires installed. 2) Paul failed tech on 6 year old tires since manufacture. Now running used Miata race Hoosiers that TJ scrounged up. 3) Vlad lost a center cap off his wheel - super rare. He’s out with the track director looking for it in the grass. The tech instructions did say remove center caps… 4) Des failed tech on no battery tie down. No covers for the battery terminal. Too high for roll bar (seat base now removed). No long sleeves so he is now wearing my hoodie. 5) Blake has delaminated his fronts - now the great tire switcheroo is underway. 6) Graham broke a throttle lever on track in the last session and spent time chatting to the turnn2 track Marshall. - TJ is doing a weld job right now. …and it’s only 1.30pm on Day 1! Track is in great condition. Other open wheeler drivers are being nice. Weather is warm and sunny/overcast. Perfect.
