There are something like 195 countries and I have been to only 80-something of them. I have not counted them in a very long time. I'm lucky if I visit 2-3 new countries each year now as most of my 150-175,000 miles a year in a plane is to places I have been to many times before. I have driven a lot of different cars over the years. I am very fortunate to know a lot of people who own lots of different things. My ownership of various automotive moneypits has brought me into contact with a lot of people in the car world. I know two owners of LM002s plus there was an LM002 resident at NJMP for a while up until recently. I love the styling - its quite a chunky looking thing, lots of character. Against today's crop of 4WDs it looks slightly small but compared to its period peers this was the Hummer of its age - it was huge. However, an F150 today would be bigger. Lamborghini started with the same drivetrain as an Espada - I prefer my Espada thanks - but with a transfer box and front diff bolted on. The interior is the usual classic Italian ergonomic vomit of unlabelled buttons and switches across acres of peeled cow. Its not quick for something that had 300+ hp when new. Obviously the gearing is borrowed from the sports cars and it is very heavy but even so it is amazingly slow. I much much prefer the original Range Rover - which is why I have one as a project. The LM002s are insanely expensive to run. Parts are non-existent and a pain to find. For a long time you could not get replacement tires. Why would you own one? Lets face it, we all have our little foibles, some character failings, and its only natural that we enjoy different types of cars.. Some people love these just because they are mad. I cannot criticize - my own car history is quirky to say the least. Unless you are worth a LOT of money you do not - repeat do not - want to own one. Just lock up the wallet and observe with a smile from a distance. For reference an LM002 is big compared to a Caterham. Photo taken at Exoticars in Frenchtown NJ. And yes a Caterham SV is wider than a Jaguar E-type.

I'd forgotten that was the Rotus hub mount of choice. Still at least there are plenty of JDM options that will work. Isn't 4.5" 4x114.3? This is a website that I use to find wheels from time to time on other moneypits. Its good for searching a broad range of options. https://www.fitmentindustries.com/store/wheels?sort=instock&dia=15&width=8&bolt=4x4.5%2C4x114.3&saleToggle=0&qdToggle=0&suspension=Stock&modification=No Modification&rubbing=No rubbing or scrubbing Didn't know your offset but Enkei and G-Line have some wheels that give an old school "Minilite" vibe. Plenty of more modern looks but they would not suit your classic British style look.

No. I have driven both. The LM002 has a bigger pedal box than an S3 Caterham. Its about SV sized but a better shaped box. I can drive an LM002 in Hoka sneakers - something I cannot do in a Caterham. However, the LM002 is like driving a cruise ship which is decidedly not Caterham like.

Its probably a pop up setting on your browser or something similarly arcane. One workaround. If you have other UK payment needs then open a Wise bank account online. Set up a CAD and a GBP account. Link to your normal personal bank account. Transfers are very cheap - cheaper than the Paypal fees. FX conversion is done at wholesale rates with cheap fees. Cheaper than anything else I have found for consumers and the fees are not that much higher than what I pay for commercial transfers in the business. You can then use the Wise UK account for direct debit at no fee - its very common in the UK for payments.

I think this the answer for @theDreamer This has happened with a number of special edition Caterhams over the years - HPC, Superlights, even a JPE. The L7&C folks and the Caterham historian only classify them as true specials if they were UK delivered car. This is despite some cars having numbered plaques, factory documentation, and the like to validate. I have even seen them argue this on anniversary kits with number plaques where if they were ignored then they do not match numbers produced per Caterham press releases. Supporting them are Caterham VIN records which generally do not classify US market cars as specials (with the possible exception of some of the Superlights). Joining the L7&C is not going to change anything on this. You will just find the vocal naysayers are mostly a bunch of narrow minded strict constructionists. My view has always been if you have the spec for one of the specials and you have documentation that supports that (e.g. special name, correct option boxes ticked on order/build documents, etc), then you have a US market special, in this case HPC. I've said as much on BringaTrailer in the past. But thats just my view and what would I know. I'm also not convinced it adds as much value to the car as other people might think. Se7ens are so uniquely customisable they are are very individual and that different people value different attributes or spec more than others. You can prove that in the auction sale results.

I'm really happy that experiment worked. It really helps you to decide on next steps. Given tramlining is primarily a front end driven problem, I am not convinced you need to prioritize the rear end first. I would look to finding the better front end tire solution then work backwards to what the options are on the rear. Fortunately this is the cheapest way too. It makes no sense to me to reduce the rear width with your HP and you seem to agree as you think it works well. Memory escapes me but I think you said you had 7 inch wide on the front and 8 inch wide on the rear? Shifting from 7" to 7.5" is a waste - too little a change to make it worthwhile. This is the point where a solution starts to cost money. Trying to do the minimal for cost plus leverage what you have for R888s now, and keeping in mind your statement that you want same rubber front and rear, then I am thinking your only options are: 1) Move to a 205 in R888 on the existing front. Leave rear untouched. 2) Consider an 8" square set up all round so two new front wheels. This preserves the current rear tire solution which works well and probably adds enough to the 225 on the front to stretch the R888 for a better profile cross section. Both of these preserve the current gearing which is ideal. If cost was no object then you could change all wheels and all new rubber but I recognize that has potential divorce proceedings or a new kitchen renovation attached to it which you would like to avoid. So I leaned to the cheapest options first. Both of these are still working on the presumption you will be running street temps at 15-17psi cold. Once a thoroughbred, always a thoroughbred. Its why I like se7ens. You can tinker with it and make it your own to suit you.

Hagerty used to have kit insurance and trailer contents insurance but I guess that is no longer around? Once the kit is at home, you should itemize it on your home contents policy, just like any individual valuable item (jewellry, watches, antiques, etc). I know for certain that the Chubb Insurance Masterpiece personal lines product will do that. For the transport home, ask your broker about cargo insurance. Cargo does not need to be in a truck to be covered. The issue is that it may be too small a value to justify anyone doing it. But I would have thought any good broker would have something standardized on the shelf that would work.

Ask to see the policy wordings. Some of the classic car policies have garage restrictions (e.g. type of construction, locks, etc) which you need to meet. Hagerty usually has the most flexible wordings.

Oh dear, I seem to have made some comments which were unappreciated for their location? I will move the tire related content when (a) this thread has petered out and (b) I am good and ready and not when someone is doing the forum equivalent of yelling (i.e. all caps). I type up variations of this tire commentary every two or three years so its easy enough to find with the search function if someone else needs it. No urgency - it can wait.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Its not surprising you have to do some work to make the Birkin meet your needs. They all do for some reason. A lot of people just never get around to dialing cars in. I assume you will be mostly road use with forays into autoX and track?
