@The Fuselage Welcome to USA7s! Thank you for sharing your story. I love that part of Vermont. In the late 1990s, I lived in Portland ME and every second week would have to spend a few days in the Burlington VT office - backroads all the way. I would move up to that part of northern VT if it was not for needing to work near a major international airport. The CSR still lives and yours was not the last. There have been at least 4 kits since 2016 - you can still order a CSR. Its an off-list option that Bruce is very much aware of. May you keep on motoring - enthusiasm like yours needs a Caterham in your life.

@Alaskossie Thanks for confirming Tom. You can have two yellow Caterham SVs in Alaska - who would have thought! My old yellow car was bought by Jude L who drove it himself from NYC to Juneau (including ferry). Looks identical to Jim's Caterham except that mine had a wink mirror and a green nose band. I know Jude takes it on the ferry up to Anchorage - he was sighted up there by a friend. Thank you for sharing the photo.

Not that I am aware of - its always 1 to 1 6th with the same standard set ratios on all gears. The only upgrade parts that I have seen exist are an upgraded layshaft (Tracsport) and upgraded shifter springs (Road & Race Transmissions and Westerman). The usual method is to alter final drive via a new diff ratio. Anyway, if you were starting from scratch today, given Caterham no longer supports the gearbox and there are very few independent places that support the gearbox, you would be better off looking at other alternatives such as an upgraded T-9 or the Mazda 5 speed (as currently used by Caterham - assuming it will fit in the chassis you have) or sequentials such as Sadev or Quaife.

@Bartman Always good to have a supplier recommended when a se7en owner has had a good experience. Radtec has been around for a long time and is a good go to resource for radiators for se7ens.

Great story @Ted E. BAyer. I did it in 1997 in a production Subaru Outback (cue the Paul Hogan jokes now...). That road was awful. Heavily crowned. Frost heaves. Surprise dips. Lots of rocks on the uphill side that had fallen on the road. And then there was the breathtaking view at which point you realize that if you went off you would land in Canada, pre-packaged in a metal coffin. Your video shows the only way for amateurs to drive the course - by sight and conservatively - none of this on the limit apexing and tracking out. Interestingly the video made it look flatter, not as steep as I know it to be. It also flattened out the road crown and steep camber on corners. A tremendous achievement. Huge respect. Thank you for sharing.

Thats a pretty special Lotus 7. Very well preserved. Most are like "Grandpa's axe" with very little original left. Thank you for sharing the link to read that.

They are pretty rare but I see them come up on Ebay from time to time. They are rare enough that the Lotus 7 Club in the UK does not have one available on its website. Here is what I know of around the place - not solely S3 model. Series 4 Manual Lotus7-S4-Service-Manual-Searchable.pdf (barnblinker.com) Lotus 7A Manual - copy of original available for purchase SimpleSevens: Lotus Seven America Assembly Instructions This website shows a listing of what was published - if you contact them they may have a link to purchasing one. Lotus Seven manuals - Lotus Drivers Guide Otherwise monitor the specialist bookstores for when they come on sale or contact them and make a request. I use these two frequently when researching car restorations or maintenance. Nothing shown listed currently but contacting them by phone is the best way. The owners are excellent and I have been dealing with them for 30+ years. Chaters Motoring Books, Classic Car Books & Motorsport Booksellers Online UK and Automoto Bookshop If someone on USa7s surfaces with a copy, then I would pay for it to be scanned and have USA7s save a copy for download to assist as a resource for other owners.

Its hit or miss. You are not the first person to experience this. Depends on the individual/dealer advertising. If you can identify the dealer directly then you can call direct. But this car is being sold by someone in Houston who has no other ads. You could register with Hemmings and then try reporting the listing as stale and see if that gets a reaction.

Size of the fluid and oil leaks is about the same though....

Welcome to USA7s! Not only is there a Caterham in the garage but as a gentleman of style and substance, you also have a Mustang GT350 residing in there. Its good to get another Mustang enthusiast besides me on this forum.

@SENC Henry - Do you know when Arch Motors started stamping its own identifying number on the chassis? I assume it came on in the 1960s when replacement chassis started being needed after race day accidents?

Welcome to USA7s. You will want to try a Caterham SV with the regular S-type seats. No Tillet or bucket seats for you. Karl was 6'7", 300lbs and size 13/14 feet. Seat was all the way back, he could operate the pedals in bare feet and it was a bit of a squeeze. He ended up buying one. I have also had a 350lb 6'2" colleague in my CSR (SV sized) on track. Didn't help performance but he fitted! Not sure about the other brands wider chassis like Birkin XS or Stalker XL but they should have the same result.
