  1. Peter those seats fit in great in your Birkin and look really comfy, also sorry I haven't contacted you yet but I have been a little busy
  2. Mike glad to hear you are keeping the Birkin hope you can find a seat so you can make use of it. My mate has a 98 Elise and I find it hard to get in than in my Birkin at least my Birkin has places for me to put my hands and help push me up and out of the car.
  3. Hank that looks like it would have hurt, hope you managed to escape ok ?

  12. Hi guys this weekend we decided to head up to one of the alpine passes that connect the East Coast to the West Coast of NZ a place called Arthurs Pass, the snow had fallen right to see level so we knew once the roads had been give a week to clear of the grit it would be a fantastic drive if we could get a real clear day. What follows is my day out on Sunday with 2 fellow mates who own Seven replicas. I headed up to Arthus Pass with Clive who drives a McGregor Mach 7 powered by a MX5 motor, we were also hooking up with his brother Don and his V8 McGregor at Sheffield the day was perfect no wind quite warm on the Canterbury plains and also quite warm in the alps too, we coverd just on 330kms all up and had one of the best driving days I have had in Grace since owning her. Started off heading up South Eyre Rd following my mate Clive too hook up with his brother on the way to Arthurs Pass http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/Snow-run-August-201111.jpg Came across a rather large heard of cows. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/Snow-run-August-201112.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/Snow-run-August-201113.jpg
  13. Sorry to hear about the troubles with the new Birkin Kitkat. 742 miles isn't really enough miles for the old owner to even give the car a full shake down and full service after its build there could be a loose bolt somewhere holding a earth strap or anything like that causing issues. Just thought I would let you know my Birkin VDO fuel gauge seems to read pretty accurate in use, at least the fuel tank is easy to get too and pull out to check the sender is working right though. Hope it's all sorted soon looking forward to seeing pictures the IRS Birkin models are awesome the rear end was designed by the ARROWS racing team engineers for Birkin which is a interesting fact I found out a little while ago. Good luck
  14. Croc I didn't take the opportunity to drift as it was damm cold -10 windchill. They only grit the roads here with very fine stone chips no salt is used at all in NZ.
  15. Last time the snow fell in Christchurch NZ was in 1992 this year we have had 2 dumps of about 8-12 inches so far, it doesn't last long and is mostly gone within 2 days. So with the snow melting away it was out with the car for a photo opportunity, pictures were taken on the day before a bigger 8" dump arrived overnight. I know you guys in the US get some really cold snowy weather here in NZ we expect it to stay up the mountains on the ski fields. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/P1030398.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/P1030386.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/P1030381.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Christchurch%20Snow/P1030395.jpg
  16. That's just to keep any water that may come in from the bonnet louvers coming into the drivers footwell. The other Ali box next to it covers the small heater that Birkin's have in them.
  17. Couple more. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/BirkinRebuild20011_003.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/BirkinRebuild20011_005-1.jpg
  18. Cars home which is great, new gearbox feels nice and the new remote shifter has a much better feel than the last setup the extra length in the passengers footwell is going to please a lot of friends. Anyway some updated pics. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/BirkinRebuild20011.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/BirkinRebuild20011_001.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/BirkinRebuild20011_002-1.jpg
  19. Nice car Aidan nice to see a Caterham with clamshells and I also like the color combo as I'm a bit bias towards the paint/Ali combo. Good luck on importing your car and welcome to the forums.
  20. Hi peter I will contact you by email soon with some more info.
  21. Hi Peter nice Birkin oh and welcome to the USA7s forum. Birkin South Africa will ship parts too you but are a bit slow to respond to emails, your next option is Dick Brink who runs Texas Motor Works which sell Birkin in the US ( use google to search). Paul Hill I have done the passenger side footwell extension, pics on how it was done are in the members rides section under my car in all took me about 4 hrs with the engine out but could have been done with the engine in as well.
  22. Thanks guys thats great I will Pm you later on if I decided to go ahead.
  23. Hi guys with the NZ $$ being so strong against your US $$ it makes it very attractive to buy some stuff from the US, im looking to do a full upgrade on my PC and the parts from Newegg.com work out about NZ $500 cheaper than if I purchased here, would some one be willing if I was to go ahead with the upgrade buy parts for me (I will pay you via Paypal first) and then send the parts to me via the US Postal service as the delivery from Newegg kills the deal as they want to use Fedex or UPS. Cheers Stephen
  24. Test fit http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension7.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension2.jpg Final rivet in place and silicon sealed so its water tight. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension6.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension2.jpg Now some one who just over 6" tall could sit in my car as a passenger really comfortable.
  25. Car went back into the workshop that did my engine swap on Monday for the new gearbox to be fitted so while it was there I took the opportunity while the engine was out to fix up the real big issue with pre 1999 Birkins.....the short passenger foot-well. This has been the one major thing that has bugged me since owning the car and I could see it being a real issue when ever I come to sell the car as anyone over 5"5 has real issues sitting in the passengers side of my car. First things first I had to move the battrie box which was located at the end of the foot-well I did this last week and have moved it up on the ali in front of the scuttle. So de-riveted the plate at the end of the foot-well. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension10.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension12.jpg Fabricated up a new ali box http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension13.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu326/Hotdognz/Engine%20Swap/FootwellExtension14.jpg
