1. X2 on the fix-a-flat! I have a can duct taped to the frame! I think the 'tire plug kit' is a great idea too.
2. I trust our Super Stalker! I drive it around town all the time, autocross it and park it. I had some crap in the gas tank and some missing jam nuts when I first got the car, but once I cleaned that out and added the nuts, it has been maint. free. We have not driven farther than 3 to four hours at a time, but would not hesitate to drive further. I don't carry tools around. If I was taking a long trip I would bring a few wrenches, screw driver and small socket set..... not sure why. I've never needed them, but like to be prepared. If I am working on it, it is because I want to piddle around with it. I know a Stalker owner (actually, I think there were three of them) just drove from Fl. to Texas for an event last month. I don't think they had any issues. It won't be like driving a door banger as far as comfort, but a lot more fun!
3. I have a couple wind wings hooked to my Stalker windshield that does help with the highway wind. It really is no worse than it was in our Solstice with the top down. The wings also help with the pebbles that wide race tires tend to chuck at your head! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/DSC00328.jpg I'm not sure what my rear end gearing is, but I'm around 70 mph at 3000 rpm. Which also means I am smack into the middle of a huge torque band in case I decide to pass/play/whatever.....! Scott
4. I almost hate to share this. It seems my sweet, loving wife has a side straight from the seedy side of town. An in-car camera video from this past weekend's Sebring Autocross enlightened me to the vile language that has been flying around during some unexpected autocross maneuvers... Shame Mary..... shame. :smilielol5:
5. Hi Bryce, Got your message on Utube. As you know, I own a Super Stalker. My completely biased opinion is that you should go for the Stalker! I am a hair under 6' and fit fine. The amazing thing about the Stalker is the huge amount of torque. I usually launch in second, get into third and drive it from there. The torque kicks in early and pulls HARD up to red-line. You don't have to be at 5-6K RPM for the power. Both are good cars. I recommend test driving an S2000. You have to be well into the rpm range to get the power to roll on. You do not have to work the Stalker engine as hard. In my opinion, the Stalker has a much more usable power band. Parts are cheap and readily available. We did add power steering because with the 10" wide race slicks we use when autocrossing, my wife had a difficult time in the tight stuff. (OK... I like it too). Either car will be a blast. The looks of the Stalker, the readily available power and cheap parts sold me. I have not regretted my decision. The bottom line is you would have a great time with both. Try to get a ride in each and go with what works for you. Scott http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/200905011455401.jpg Scott
6. Great vids. I loved the "WHOAA's" too. looks like you were having a blast.
7. Beautiful car!! The second big win for you is that your wife loves it too! That makes the whole thing work out real well! Congrats.:hurray:
8. We got seven runs each. Plus 2 extra.... a course worker missed a down cone and a timing issue gave a couple spares!! I never get re-runs... so I took 'em! There was some off set cones at the end to slow things down at the finish. Here's a video from outside that shows them a little better. We run in Emod classwith SCCA. This club just has a open wheel race car class they put me, my wife and the AC Cobra's in. We are heading to Daytona next weekend for another event. They have a mini road course set up at the speedway. Should be a good time. Scott
9. My wife and I attended an Autocross last Sunday at Brooksville Hernando Airport. A good concrete surface. I missed FTD by a few 10ths, but came in second out of 59 and my wife came in 5th. There were a couple nice AC Cobra there too. Beautiful cars. me Mary
10. There was a new driver for the Sesame Street bus. His first day on the job, he awoke bright and early, went to the garage, got the bus, and set off on his route. At the first stop there was an enormous woman waiting for the bus. She climbed the step and got on, and said, "Hi. My name is Patty. And I'm obese!" The driver just smiled and replied,"Hi, Patty. Please take a seat." At the second stop there was another enormous woman, even larger than the first. She got on and said, "Good morning! My name's Patty, and I'm obese!" While the driver thought it was odd, all he said was "Good morning. Please sit down." At the third stop there was a tall skinny man with coke bottle glasses, greased back hair a pocket protector stuffed full of pencils. The skinny man bounded into the bus and said, "Hi. My name is Ross, and I'm special!" By now, the driver was starting to wonder what he had gotten himself into.., but he managed a smile and said, "Please sit down, Ross." The fourth stop rewarded the driver with a grubby little man with dirty jeans and torn sneakers and filthy yellow teeth. He got on the bus and said, "My name is Lester, Lester Teeth."The driver replied, "Please take a seat, Lester." And Lester sits down right behind him. Well, pretty soon, the driver smells a horrible stench wafting up from behind his seat. He looks in his rear-view mirror and sees that Lester Teeth has taken off his sneakers and is picking at some huge bunions on his filthy feet. It was the last straw... The driver pulls the bus over to the side of the rode, stops it, and cries out, "I can't take this any longer! I've got.... * * * oh this is baaaadddd * * * * * * two obese Patties, special Ross, Lester Teeth picking bunions on a Sesame Street bus! :smilielol5:
11. David S will be there tomorrow. I'm not sure about Dennis. I have to turn up the Talent Knob tomorrow. I can't let Mary do that twice in a row!!!! The event is in Sarasota. The rain is supposed to move out tonight, should be a fun day. Scott
12. Way to showcase the Stalker Jack! Beautiful car. I am going to put a copy upin the Race Trailer! Scott
13. It took her about a year of watching before she jumped in. But now she is addicted. We have another AutoX this coming Sunday.... I need to turn up the talent control for this one! Scott
14. Your build / restoration story is a good read! It must have been tough to part with it after doing all that. Enjoyed it.Thanks. Scott
15. Thanks for the 'heads-up' Martin. It should work now. Maybe better if it didn't.... dang, she is really getting fast. It does make it fun having her enthused about AutoX!
16. Sigh.... it happened yesterday at an AutoX held at the Brooksville/Hernando Airport. She has zero respect for my delicate male ego....:driving: Scott
17. Very cool video! What kind of car / engine? Looks like an SAE? I have a Solo Vee that is a blast for autocross. You wear it more so than drive it! It does not get used that much anymore now that the Stalker has found a home in the garage. The Solo was an FTD car fairly often. http://www.youtube.com/user/snookwheel#p/u/27/QvOuntblgGk Scott
18. Great stuff. I'm a sailor at heart. Retirement will be cruising. Any telecast of the races?
19. Crap, looks like the DOT is on the Hysteria bandwagon! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/Tundrasign3.jpg
20. BWAAAAAHAHAHAH! That is going to make the rounds! Thanks!
21. That is very cool!

23. I went to the Toyota Dealership and asked about the recall. They did not have any of the replacement parts in just yet, but the service department did set us up with a temporary fix. I'm not too crazy about it, but went with it anyway so my wife didn't have to worry when she drove her truck. At the slightest indication of 'runaway acceleration' I can instantly launch the supplemental braking system. I hope the regular parts get here soon. I hate riding in back..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/RunawayToyota2.jpg
24. That does look like an absolute BLAST!!! Scott
25. Blami makes a valid point that there would certainly be a lot less of an issue with track use vs. Autocross. But even though with the street tires running around town, after adding power steering.. I would not want to go back. The race tires really made power steering shine for us. I have a switch on the dash that lets me turn the electric pump off if I want. The system would then steer like a manual set up. I haven't felt the need to use it yet! 7" street tires vs. 10" race slicks really does make a difference in the effort you experience! It is certainly doable with or without PS. But for us, PS made it more enjoyable... and faster for AutoX!!:driving: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/P1040555.jpg Best of luck with your decision! Scott
