  1. In a bit of a festive mood this morning.
  2. Bob, Glad to here you had a blast. Did you get any video?
  3. Paul, Longitudinally, the engine sits in the center of the car. Maybe that means we all drive mid engine Sevens. 😀
  4. papak, Welcome aboard from a non-retired corporate pilot. Great bunch of guys here, and a fun, knowledgeable group at that. I've built/owned a few cars over the years and currently have a Stalker that I enjoy tracking. It doesn't have anything shiny on it because I hate the thought of having to polish anything that doesn't add getty up and go. . . . . .
  5. Steve, Remembering the dash layout of Croc's Stang, you'll need a pilot's license. :jester:

  7. Mark, Welcome to the club! When I purchased my Brunton Stalker in kit form (Stalkers are also referred to as Storkers . . for fun), I had found the add in the back of a kit car magazine. I immediately called Dennis Brunton and ordered a kit, knowing nothing more about it than that I could stuff a super charged V6 under the hood. Talk about impulsive! That was close to eight years ago . . . . . no regrets.

And this! Like trying to thread a needle.

Tom, that's exactly the kind of insane 'run amuck' stuff I'm talking about (insert cringing smilie here 😁 ).

Paul, We are spoiled with our big, wide tracks. Every time I watch a video of a Seven running a narrow course, 'what ifs' run amuck in my mind.

  12. It's worth a chuckle.
  13. I spoke with Mark Hicks this morning (general manager for Chin Motorsports). He said, in short, that we could piggy back with Chin at Barber, but becasue of cost and driver experience levels, he couldn't put together a 'cost-effective' Seven-only run group. Although we would be in different run groups, we could do the event together. Again, Chin dates for 2015 at Barber are: Apr 18-19, 2015 Barber MSP Jul 11-12, 2015 Barber MSP Sep 19-20, 2015 Barber MSP http://www.chinmotorsports.com/default.aspx?v=1 My vote would be for September.
  14. Steve, I'm running a lightened flywheel on the Storker. In short, the reduced rotrational mass helps the engine rev faster. Flywheels are basically energy absorbing/storage devices; the heavier the flywheel, the more of an engines energy (power output) it can store for longer periods or time. If an engine produces x lb-ft of torque, the time it takes that engine to produce (rev up) and deliver its available amount of torque can be altered (reduced) through the use of a lighter weight flywheel. This is great for high performance driving, but not so great for the street. Having said that, if an engine's torque output exceeds a transmission's torque rating, lightening the flywheel may very well result in exceeding the transmission's torque rating much sooner. However, I wouldn't recommend using a transmission that isn't rated for the engine's torque output regardless of flywheel application. These articles may be helpful:  http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywheel/how_a_lightweight_flywheel_works.htm http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywheel/there_is_no_torque_loss.htm http://www.torquecars.com/tuning/flywheel-lightening.php
  15. That's just wicked cool.
  16. Combining a Sevens-only run group with an HPDE host might be an option. I'll through it on the table for condsideration: Chin Motorsports Apr 18-19, 2015 Barber MSP Jul 11-12, 2015 Barber MSP Sep 19-20, 2015 Barber MSP http://www.chinmotorsports.com/default.aspx?v=1
  17. GAME!!!!!!!! And I'm certain Mario would join in with his Storker as he and I have plans for running together at Barber in 2015. A USA7's gathering would be icing on the cake.

  19. John, Wish I had known. Dang the luck. :banghead:
  20. The plaques outline each car’s specs (number produced, weight, engine, HP, suspension, top end speed, etc.) and a brief history of the car. Sorry, didn’t get photos.
  21. . . . . .
