  1. FYI Sears has a gun that develops just over 600 ftlb. My Corvair had a heating problem, in about 2 blocks the water temp was pegged. Inspection showed no bubbles in the radiator. I had to get a kit to test for exhaust gasses in radiator, it is a realy good idea if this used to lower the water level a bit. The fluid finally turned yellow the second time around. There was an almost imperceptible track between two cyls. New gaskets and a BIG radiator and it was my dd for 2 years with no further problems.
  2. Given the miles while you are under the hood you might want to throw a timing chain on it and never put back an old water pump.
  3. You need to use http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/ This site seems much faster no time to play solitare.
  4. Yes. I generaly play a game of Solitare waiting for loads.
  5. That sounds like it was worth the trouble/cost.
  6. Sometimes the balast is a resistor wire.
  7. Another solution is a steering quickner available in 1,5:1 and 2:1. This is a case for using joints that are way over the needed specs, this is not an area to save weight on.
  8. Now that there are a few miles on the car do you think the Lizard skin helped with temps?
  9. When I lived in San Francisco I had a 1.3L Alfa which didn't like the hills at slow speeds let alone being dumb enough to stop on one. The 7 L Dodge disn't care either way.
  10. Probably wouldn't take FTOD at autox but shure looks like fun.
  11. Got out of hospital Mon late. I had one stent installed just after the attack which is the 4th in 12 years. Doing well but have to have another stent within a couple of months. Thanks for the kind wishes. Jim
  12. Hi from the hospital. Had a stent inserted and will sooon need another. Think this will slow things down a bit. Thanks for the wishes. They lied about the release date.
  13. I'm currently in the hospital due to a 4 th heart attack. Intervention nearly complete though will need a second cathretization soon. Think this will slow things down a bit for now. Jim
  14. Rob Did you strip the paint on the fenders and other fiberglass? When stripping Mazda's fenders I found the rears had a HEAVY coat of what almost appeard to be clay, when it was all off the fenders semed to be about a third lighter there was no jell coat on rears. I will fix with light coat of jell coat then sand.
  15. Being frugal/cheap I would look to see if I gould braze a sleve over the broken piece which could be then brazed to the cable.

    have a good/safe trip.
  17. My mother never drove, that is probably why she si still able to take the bus to SF and walk around shopping at 84. Many years ago I was giving her a ride in my Alfa I pulled over to a bus stop and handed her bus fare, her squaeals were distracting and I was afraid I would run into something. She promised to be quiet and we continued. I neither borrow or loan a car. I had a D Gas 55 Chevy my brother borrowed, it had a shift point of a bit over 10 k. T had warned him I didn't trust the clutch, it blew breaking the back of the block off and bending and breaking an Ansen cast steel scatershield, the car never got put back together.
  18. The wife accuses me of second childhood, I mutter never left first.
  19. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery2/d/9737-4/DSC00812.JPG Here is the shop which I am sneaking up on equiping. Today I picked up the bolts to install a Hunter alignment lift which has had added a two post lift. It is not nearly as pretty as the other shown but only cosy 1k, and paint will make a big difference. It will be installed soon as the gib crane can be freed up. The other addition is a frame jig that weighs nearly as much as a 7, 10' x 4'. Pics will follow. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery2/d/10136-4/DSC00906small.jpg

    Gas Attack!

I believe that a cost of opening up other oil fields should be a Large tarrif on exported oil to insure that domestic oil is used first to solve domestic oil needs.
  23. Is this similar to the programmer test I used to use? S R U O Y

    Gas Attack!

Keep in m ind that at least 60% of the oil comes from this country.
  25. I would believe you would want to register in VA. VA just passed a component car law that is very good. The car is registered as what it most looks like followed by (replica). I bought a folder off Ebay showing the 57 7 which will be used at registration and inspection time. The advantage is that smog and equipment follow the year of the replica, I plan on using 58 since that was the start of the 7 America. I doubt any state inspector would have any knowledge as to what was required on a 58 Lotus kit car and no smog. The only downside is that mileage is limited to 5k per year according to your odometer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LOTUS-7-SEVEN-SPEC-SHEET-Brochure-1957-1958-1959-1960_W0QQitemZ200203318612QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
