  1. "Come into a gas station for a fill-up and jaws drop, eyes bug out and grown men walk into lamp posts." Rob
  2. Finally got around to attacking that Supra rear end that I yanked and bought at the junkyard this past Sunday. I dismantled the disks while my friend attacked all the existing brackets with a metal saw and chisel. Then I grinded all the rough edges to make a clean solid rear axle. It's not LSD .. but I'm keeping an eye out for one from an '80-'81 Supra. Now to drop the Corolla rear end .. make cardboard templates of the Rotus Brackets and then ask my friend to fabricate and weld. Rob
  3. Dang .. I need to go get me a Ford Focus! Rob
  4. It's been 25 years since I have explored those forts .. and about 12 years since I've been back to Savannah ... usually on my way back home from Cumberland Island National Seashore (sorry no cars allowed!) Rob
  5. Website for Toyota Axles: http://www.norbie.net/toyotaaxle/ As an example of how to decipher Toyota axle codes: The '80 Supra from which I grabbed the solid rear axle has code "F312" which corresponds to: a 7.5" Ring Gear, a 3.909 gear ratio, and 2 pinions with no LSD. MA47 Solid Axle (coils) F312: 7.5", 3.90:1, 2 pinions, Open 4x114.3 1410mm Solid disc, 1 piston calipers, integrated drum handbrake Corolla: TE71 Solid Axle (coils) S312: 6.4", 3.90:1, 2 pinions, Open 4x114.3 1410mm Drum Rob Copied from celicasupra.com: check the firewall vin plate. ----------------------------------------------------- First Digit: (Ring Gear Diameter) Second & Third Digits: (Gear Ratio) Fourth Digit: (# of Pinion Gears ... 6. Well you know the saying .. one in the hand is worth two in the bush .. (12 hours drive away) ... I'm still surprised that Robert did not grab yours .. Now that I know how to interpret the Toyota axle codes .. it's just a matter of time before I find an LSD in the junkyards. Sure .. I'll take the pads and rotors .. Send them to me with the Corona ball joint ... Rob
  7. Great pics! Is that Fort Polaski or Jackson?? What is that yellow monster doing beside your Seven? Rob
  8. Then you end up with racoon eyes tan lines! Actually I need some Rec Specs ... My side doors are required for interstate drives of 55-60+ (mph). Hat stays on because of chin strap. Ear plugs .. always!! Rob
  9. celicasupra.com is great! I found and printed the Toyota axle codes .. so I was able to verify that the 1980 Supra axle is indeed the heavier F axle .. and the diff is not limited slip. I see that you have posted there .. Rotus8. Then this morning I went back to Pullapart Recyclers and pulled the two rear hub assemblies for my '87 Celica and grabbed the rear axle. Now all deposited at the mechanic's shop. Next to call autozone and get some new rotors .. and see if the calipers are any good. Plus I gotta trim all that metal off the axle and get ready for some Rotus brackets. I wonder if Dennis Hedges can supply the brackets? My mechancs can probably fabricate metal if he cannot. Rob
  10. I'll have to check on that .. Thanks! Rob
  11. On the way home from work this morning .. the weather was just right for a stop at my favorite junkyard .. Pullapart Recyclers .. So I was determined to look and pull the rear axle from the 1979 Supra that is there. Well with a little determination I finally "grounded" it from the car .. and then discovered that it does not have a LSD diff. So now my question is whether a later Supra LSD will fit this axle. If so .. I will go back and get it maybe tomorrow. The goal is to replace the rear axle of my Rotus with this new one which features disk brakes. Then I found a 1987 Corolla with rear disk brakes. :hurray: I've been waiting and searching Pullapart for months just waiting for one of these cars to show up! So I began the process of yanking the brackets so that I can replace the drums on my '87 Celica Convertible with disk brakes. This afternoon I rented a puller so I can get the rusty disks off. I have lived with drums on many cars .. but now it is time to replace the drums with disks! Rob
  12. I didn't know that she is 30??? Rob http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/784011603_silverstone.jpg
  13. Do you know the Christopher Columbus method of typing? That's where you 'discover' it .. and 'land upon' it. Rob
  14. Mazda: How does your car feel as compared before you modified the front suspension ?? for me .. I really liked my mid '70s Celicas .. manual steering through pitman / idler arms setup .. through which I could feel the bumps ... Rob
  15. Or let your unregistered Windoze time run out .. :leaving: Now Andrew .. you are getting a southern accent .......... destroyed?? How about some Seven demolition driving? :iagree: Rob
  16. Good thing! .. although we are right above "Daisy the Clown" Rob
  17. Those headlights sure are positioned low .. Rob
  18. FWIW: Lucas Wiper Motor Wiring Lucas Wiring with Relays Lucas Wiper Diagrams .. Other resources on google .. search for "Lucas Wiper Wiring" Rob
  19. The only thing that I talked about was this thread .. just a general discussion of the Lucas Wiper Systems ... I had mentioned that I have a delay circuit kit ($7) which can be used to make an intermittent delay wiper work .. but that requires a motor with a park capability .. which mine does not have. I thought to upgrade to a 2 speed Lucas Wiper Motor .. but really .. who wants to drive in the rain ?? Rob
  20. I think frappr is great! This is how I learned that eVox (Andrew) is local to me .. at Georgia Tech. Rob
  21. I like this idea! A mobile meet / cruise! Rob
  22. Blat, blat. blat... the feeling that the passenger gets when slung around while riding in a Seven. Rob
  23. That was a strange look at the end! Rob
  24. Yeah .. the new Grant parts bolted right in place .. with minimal effort. I was at the Tashtanov's shop again Sunday .. where the guys honked the horns of two of the cars .. well I then honked my seven's horn .. Those Hella Supertones are the loudest by far! 118 dB. Rob
