I always thought having the valve covers protruding from the side of the body would be kind of a cool look assuming the engine would fit past the chassis tubes. I've been meaning to measure the width of the engine in my STI for comparative purposes - no way I'd ever pay the street price of an STI drivetrain but its always interesting to look. I would figure this new engine wouldn't be much wider especially since it still has to fit between the production car's strut towers and there isn't exactly a lot of extra space with the current EJ family. If there was a decent RWD transmission option the current SOHC 2.5Ls at ~175 hp would be a fun choice. Wonder if the EJ and the new engine will share the same bellhousing pattern?

Great looking car. I just looked through my policy and didn't see anything that specifically forbid track days. I just see where they tell you should you race/do track days and something happens, you won't be covered.

Any chance a ground loosened or a vacuum line developed a leak? How do the plugs look?

You mentioned refilling the fuel cell- does this cell have foam by any chance?

I hit a doe with the Locost earlier this year. Between the sound of my car skidding and me probably yelling the doe tried to pull a 180, slid on the pavement, and basically ended up head level with the right front tire. The Locost was undamaged aside from some puke. Can't say as much for the deer. The thoughts of even a doe going over the hood makes me cringe.....a full cage is going in this winter. Glad to hear your experienced ended better.

Don't forget the Taurus - truly a great car........... if you know nothing about cars.

I hear ya. PA has no lenience on windshields either yet other states don't even require a windshield. Its AS1 safety glass at least 12" tall (or 7" for street rods) or no car. The worst part is 12" is a little too tall for a 7 and looks kind of disproportional compared to the rest of the car.

This is what I love the 7 community - very few people seem to care about pedigree or see it as a dividing factor. Its all about the experience of driving and ownership.

Went autocrossing on Saturday - the weatherman said we were supposed to get thunderstorms and rain all day (just like he had said we were getting for the past week). I called his bluff; it sprinkled for about 15 minutes and it was an otherwise fantastic day of driving.

Sorry I'm still not used to having a drivable car...I guess that logic explains why I've taken a liking to assembling my own ECU when I've never enjoyed electronics before. I tried the whole "drive on a nice winter day" thing and ended up with a hole in the oil pan (stupid PA roads). I guess thats a sign to park it for the winter.

Videos like this are some form of cruel and unusual punishment for us northerners...I envy those of you who are able to drive right now. Its been below freezing for several weeks and now everything is covered in salt.
