  1. Early response seems to point to a nice turnout this year. They have repaved Thunderbolt and are finishing up the new curbing. They still have to let the concrete curbing cure before they can do the painting. Here is a drone video of the progress. Word from them is that the track is a lot more grippy and safer with the improved gravel traps, increased curbing and moving back tire walls in turn one. Going to be fun getting the Se7ens back on track after missing last year. The more the Merrier! Tom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIdri2LZMZs
  2. The rover K really comes on cam at 5500rpm and pulls like a freight train. Enjoy! Tom
  3. Well it’s still raining here and never really let up all day so, I guess we have to consider ourselves fortunate that we didn’t waste the entry fee today as I don’t think anyone would have taken their car on track. Except maybe Kitcat @Kitcat Never got much above 50 today either. We missed it by two days. Thursday and Friday were spectacular days 70s and not a cloud in the sky. Oh well. Tom
  4. Thanks guys. We have been extremely lucky to have them allow us to have our own run group. I don’t think they have ever even considered doing one for any other marque. In the past NJMP would never cancel a drivers club event for weather. It was supposedly a “learning Experience “. Our open and often slick shod cars don’t need that kind of experience 🤪. This year they started monitoring the sign up numbers and if they didn’t feel the numbers made economic sense, they would cancel the event. Most of our members realize that nothing good ever happens on track in the rain. So with so few signed up ahead of time, they made the decision to cancel. In the 12 or so years we have been doing this, we only had one wet morning, that left a few puddles on a furn or two. Which made for some good spins and great pictures 😜 Hopefully we will have better luck next year. And hope to see all those who had conflicts and car issues back with us next year. Maybe even Seb will find a way to take a couple of days off. 🙄 Stay Safe Tom
  5. Guys, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but NJMP just informed Croc that they are officially cancelling BOTH Saturday AND Sunday now. So officially the event is off. Croc just landed and besides being jet lagged, he’s very disappointed as am I. We will look to see if there are any possible other dates this year, but as the weather will be cooling off more and more, it’s most likely we will be looking at next year to try again. Tom
  6. Sorry I was on the road. Croc is heading home fro his SPA trip. Looks like Sunday is a go. Arrival on Saturday for those who want to come in. Drop trailers at Lightning paddock and head over to Croc’s garage to hang out for a bit. We hopefully can have dinner at the clubhouse if it’s open or if not head into Millville. Usual format. Breakfast at 7 am Sunday in the Clubhouse. Tech from 7:30 to 8:30 in the paddock. Drivers meeting at 8:30am track live at 9am for those coming please post here just to give us a rough count. too bad it wasn’t yesterday and today. Weather is perfect. Tom
  7. Ok CROC just heard from NJMP. They are going to do the Sunday track day. So Saturday is no but Sunday is a go for those that want to do it. Croc and I will be there.
  8. I hate to say it, but I think Vlad jinxed us by finally fixing his car. 😜 We will try to get next year’s date out as early as we can, once we get next year’s schedule, so you can all try to block it on your calendars. So those of you with mechanical issues or new builds or cars on order will have no excuse. Tom
  9. Congrats Vlad. I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. Glad you finally caught a break. Tom
  10. Don’t fret the weather this far out. They have no clue.
  11. Just about one week to go for the 7s at NJMP event. Hopefully everyone is just about ready. I went to the track today and corded my tires, after two runs. Well they were two seasons old so I can’t complain. Luckily it happened today. I have a spare set that I will take over tomorrow to get mounted. So at least I will be on fresh tires for the event . Excellent planning eh 😜 looking forward to a nice, fun event. see you next week. Tom
  12. You could go out in the green group for a couple sessions to give it some easy laps then move up with the rest of us if you think it’s ready
  13. Coming up on three weeks to go. Hopefully all of you have got your cars ready to go. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Tom
  14. The general store on sight does carry rental helmets. I’d seriously check the cost of an instructor vs the insurance cost. The key is to stay within your comfort zone. In the novice group there is no passing and they gradually increase the pace in the sessions thru the day. You can just do one day if that works better for you. If you can’t swing it, then just come for the day and hang out in the pits. We might be able to figure out how to get you a ride on track. But you do know the 620 was made for the track right? Plus it’s way safer that driving on the street.
  15. I believe a 5 or 6 point harness is required. They do sell them at the track and there is a local mechanic that has helped us out with the occasional mechanical issue. There is ample parking in the paddock and we usually all park together. Just bring a folding chair. Croc and I have a couple of tents that we set up. Overnight parking at the track is pretty secure. We all leave our cars and trailers in the paddock overnight. Yes there is a novice group with classroom sessions before each on track run. It’s a great way to learn the track and progressively build up your confidence and speed. It’s a lead follow format with the instructor leading the pace car. Definitely the way to get out o the track is controlled environment. Tom
  16. I don’t recall Hans devices being required but watch this video and decide if it’s a good investment.
  17. Jim we will miss you. Enjoy your trip. Hopefully you will have lots of free time with your retirement. Tom
  18. Paul, tires should be less than 7 years old, obviously brake pads should be in good Nick , they do look but I don’t remember anyone pulling out a set of calipers to measure them. Helmets 2015 or newer. Hans dates are not checked as far as I know. They do check the dates on the harnesses so they must be current. They look for leaks, they look tires over and do have a check list that they follow and they will check that your brake lights work. Nothing that you shouldn’t have checked yourselves before going out on track.
  19. We are now just 8 weeks away from our Sevens Gathering at NJMP. Hopefully everyone has made lodging reservations. And have the parts necessary to get their cars ready. I know one of our members needs a new Caterham six speed if anyone has a spare one lying around. This is a great opportunity to get your Seven on track with just Sevens, so no dodging 3300 pound vettes and porkers. It’s also a good opportunity if you are thinking about a Seven, to try on one or two to see how you fit. The social hours in the paddock and by the pool are fun too. So get your cars ready. See you soon. Tom
  20. Looks like it got loose every time he lifted in a turn.
  21. Another K series.👍. We can form our own club soon 😝. Welcome aboard.
  22. I removed the standard headrest from my seat as it pushed my helmet and HANS device too far forward. Here is the Caterham parts I used to make the headrest.
