  1. You will be missed Jeff. Good luck with the sale, hopefully it will bring the high price it deserves. Tom
  2. Great news John! I’m going to have an old fashioned to help you celebrate 🥃 Tom
  3. @Vovchandr Croc tells me that the pics he sent of my front suspension/ carbon are what you needed. Yesterday on track, the front wingstay that my mechanic warned me of, did fail. Luckily I saw it start to wobble on the front strait and backed off and crawled the whole lap babying it back to pit lane and at least didn’t lose the carbon wing. I just sent Westerman a request for new wingstays. I assume you could use the ones you got from him. Correct? Tom
  4. Wow! Great driving. So when are you going to set up a Caterham a Barber track day? 😜. Tom
  5. I’ll have Orange there. Still on old tires but I did find a new supply and ordered two sets as I think Michelin is discontinuing their 13 inch slicks. 😡
  6. Box, how the hell are you? About time you finally make one of these. You were there in Gettysburg with us way back then. Make it happen. You still have the 7?
  7. I built my yellow car in 2000. I bought the orange car around 2015. Both cars are fun to drive, one is easy to drive thee other is a beast. Strangely enough I was 45 when I bought Yellow. 😜
  8. I loved Barber. Would tow there again in a heartbeat if someone would set up a Sevens day there.
  9. Mike, I was towing yellow in my trailer with my cousin John’s Ram pick up. John was supposed to co drive. But as it turned out he had macro degeneration and is was an overcast sometimes rainy day and I found out that he really couldn’t see well enough to actually drive. That was when we made him give up driving. He could see somewhat but he described it like putting your arm out with Your fist closed in front of you. He could see the edges but not directly in front of him. That’s why I drove the whole way.
  10. I made the trip to Barber for Log for my first trackday and drove it in 17 hours straight doing the whole drive myself. Will admit that my legs were like rubber when I got there. But it wasn’t a bad drive. I left at 2 in the morning and got there at 7:30 pm. Fresh as a daisy the next day. Suck it up and come on up. It’s worth it. 😜 Tom.
  11. Vlad, when I had the car in the shop for its preseason tech the mechanic pointed out that the left stay had a little play in it versus the right one. He suspected that the inner tube may be cracked. I had the car on track last week and kept an eye on it down the straights and didn’t notice any flapping or movement. But I’m thinking that preventative replacement is the way to go. I don’t have any issues with the current tires as to clearance. But if I can’t get the same tires and have to go to another brand I’m concerned That the diameter won’t be the same and could cause an issue. My car is currently in the trailer and at the storage facility so I will have to take a ride to get your pictures. Can it wait until next Saturday? I’m planning on going to the track on Sunday and Monday next week.
  12. Vlad, I need to order a new set of wingstays from Westerman, as one of mine is a bit wobbly. I’m also having trouble finding the Michelin slicks I use and may have to find a substitute which may require some adjustment to the wingstays to provide clearance. Based on your experience is it possible to adjust them to get tire clearance? Tom
  13. Excellent John. Looking forward to running with you this year. We will have to see if Croc’s new car will make an appearance
  14. Steve, start polishing now so that if the Mallock does let’s you down you won’t be ashamed bringing a dull car. Tom
  15. I should also mention that wives and significant others are invited and welcome to join in on the fun. We usually have a good number attending.
  16. Sorry my proofreading skills have deteriorated sharply. That was not intentional.
  17. Croc will post a comprehensive tome on all the details once he comes up for air. He’s probably swamped at work since he’s been on vacation/traveling for the last couple months . Either that or he’s polishing his fleet of cars and that could take him into June or July.
  18. Croc can correct me if I’m wrong but I think this is 12th year we have had this event. We started with five or six cars and grew to at one point to twenty four I think. I was told we will be given our own Se7ens only run group if we have at least ten cars participating so I’m pretty hopeful we can get to at least that number. And they did not limit us this year as they did the last two years. We are looking forward to seeing the regular attendees and hopefully a lot more first timers. This is a friendly event. It’s not a race, it’s an HPDE. If you have never been on track before it’s the ideal chance as there is a dedicated Green group with classroom and in car instruction available, which gives you the opportunity to learn the track and your car’s capabilities without the stress of passing. And if your progress warrants, you may be allowed to join in on the Sevens only run group. So start getting your car ready, tires ordered or asking for permission from your better half if necessary. Croc and I look forward to seeing you all . Tom
  19. Hi, Jeff. It’s simple. Your car needs to be driven like it was meant to. Bring it back up to NJMP and get it back on track where it belongs. I’ll drive at half throttle so your R500 can keep up.. either that or the smoke has come out of your wiring. And you need to replace it. Electrical issues suck. Hope you are doing well otherwise. We miss you. Tom
  20. Hi Seb. I’ve used the sunoco gt 100 in my yellow car. 12.4:1 CR and VP race fuel MS 109 in my orange car. 13:1 CR. Then again I don’t bear the crap out of my cars like you and Simon do. Tom.
  21. Mike, George Alderman’s nephew, who I Believe George said built Cages for Nascar, built it. He started with my Caterham FIA tall roll bar and added the D hoops, front and side impact bars.
  22. Before you install the knee trim panels, if your car didn’t come with them, you should consider getting the fixed nut windscreen brackets. That way if you decide to take the screen off and put a brooklands screen or aero screen in you won’t have to drill out the rivets to get to the nuts. Nice build. BTW. Tom
  23. Well the event has wrapped up and most have packed up and headed back home. The hardcore award goes to Justin @DatsunRBZAnd Paul @wemtd who hung in there and were the last two on track as the day ended. thanks to all who made the effort to drive significant distances to be part of this fun event and persevere to overcome some mechanical issues just before the event. Hopefully some video and more pictures will be posted once everyone gets some rest. And a special thanks to the spouses who came and cheered us on. And to the ones that didn’t but still allowed us to come out and play. Croc is still on the road but I assume he will chime in once he gets home and opens a good bottle of wine.
